The Clarification of Calculation for Falsework of BRI -04(P15 and P16 Pier Head)

The internal force value caused bydead load that quoted in the Enginee r's letter is from the
Contractor's previous submitted ca lculation. Th is value was inputted through Midas/civil, which
in cludes the total internal force caused by dead load of th e superstructure, such as self-weight of
I beam, diaphragm, bridge deck and pavement, etc. In the combination of 1+2+4a, it should only
consider the load of the bridge erection machine and the dead load of superstructure, such as
se lf-weight of I beam.
After checking calculation by Contractor, the bending moment caused by the self-weight of beam
is shown as follows (maximum value is 2938kN.m}:

During the construction process: tensioning three steel strand ---+ erecting five I beam ---+ bridge
erection machine, t he stress of the bridge margin is shown as follows (compressive stress at the
bridge margin is O.lMPa}:

To sum up, the internal force of combination 1+2+4a meets th e requ irements of the Specification,
so the structure is safe.
