Reception Fund
To maximise children’s learning is very important that we make things real. We aim to provide the
opportunity to cook, make play dough and experiment with a wide range of materials. We kindly ask
that you make a voluntary contribution of 50 pence a week to buy ingredients. Look out for the
class collection jar or alternatively speak to any of the staff members.
Please ensure that you bring your child’s bag everyday a nd that the uniform is clearly labelled.
It is very important that your child has a spare change of clothes (not necessarily uniform) in
his/her book bag incase of accidents or as a change after water play. Donations of old clothes
including pants, socks and trousers are needed and very welcome.
Children have access to junk modelling everyday so we constantly need supplies of lids, egg
cartons (great for exploring mathematical concepts), small clean boxes , bottles, corks, containers,
plastic milk bottles, old flour to make playdough etc and any other creative resources. We would
also welcome any possible donations of old furniture, pots, pans or other items such as toys etc.
Children’s diary
Each child in Reception will have a diary in which they choose a piece of work each week that they
are proud of to stick in and share with you. They will bring the diary home with them each Friday.
They may also add a drawing/photo/account of something they did during the weekend that will be
shared with the class over the course of the week. You can expect diaries to start going home in the
next few weeks.
Parent/carer-volunteers
If you would like to help out in reception, we will gladly welcome volunteers once the children have
settled. If you are interested please come and talk to the class teacher.
Health & Hygiene Issues
If your child suffers from allergies or other health issues, could you please let the staff know and
provide medication/epipen or asthma pumps. A medical form must also be completed.
Information Meeting
Reception will be having an information meeting for parents on Thursday 13th September 2018 at
1:15pm in the classroom. This will be an opportunity for you to meet us and find out a little more
about Reception and the exciting plans for our curriculum and parents’ involvement.
We hope that you will be able to attend.
As always, If you have anything you would like to discuss at other times of the term please make an
appointment. Alternatively, you can email us at the addresses below.
We look forward to an exciting term.
