Good afternoon everyone, so today, Ivan and I will be reporting about a sculptor, a

painter and most of all, a national artist, Arturo Luz. At the end of the report you will be able to learn
when he was awarded as a National Artist. His brief biography. Where he practiced and hone his
skills in art and painting. His greatest contributions in Philippine art and lastly, our photos with his
paintings at the National Museum.

Arturo Luz received his National Artist Award in 1997 in the time of our late president Fidel V.
Ramos or FVR. As you can see the symbol, it is a token given to the awardees and they call it
emblem of order of national artist. Its first induction was in the year 1972 administered by our late
president Ferdinand Marcos proclamation 1001 April 2, 1972.

Ivan:

Arturo Luz studied painting in School of Fine Arts in University of Santo Tomas. He also
studied in School of Brooklyn Museum, California, USA. Next is in the Academie Grande Chaumiere.
And he received his first diploma in California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland.

Bagong Taon. His travels around the archipelago and living with different urban, rural and
tribal communities. In these travels, he has searched for the Filipino spirit, which he tries to share in
all his activities. In his paintings, he reflects a soulful connection with the various traditional
indigenous cultures and the sensibilities of the people.
