Why didn't the queen fit in the bed the first time?
The kings feet were bigger than the apprentices feet. So, the bed was too small.
When the apprentice made a model of the King's foot, the measurement was the
correct length. This is why the queen fit in the bed the second time.
It is important to make sure the items you are measuring with are the same length. In
the story, both characters measured using feet, but their feet were different sizes.

Why did it take more paper clips to measure the second caterpillar?
The smaller the item you are measuring with, the more of
those items you will need. The larger the item you are
measuring with, the less of those items you will need.
