Style N0.520 is a top till and seven drawer unit which provides 1407 cu. in. of
storage area. Top till and all drawers are felt lined for maximum protection of
precision tools and instruments. All drawers operate on Kennedy heavy gauge
plated steel compound slides which will not stick, bind or break down. Even when
drawers are fully extended, one-half of the drawer remains on the slides for full
support 0f the contents. Positive drawer stops prevent accidental spillage and
resulting tool damage. N0.520 is strongly rein{orced with double wall body end
c0nstructi0n for increased load capacity. Drop-front panel, which slides under
drawers when open, and cylinder type lock completely secure entire chest when
not in use. Lid stay holds lid upright when chest is open. Full width piano hinge
with stainless steel staked hinge pin prevents removal of lid. Adjustable partitions
furnished ior all but lower drawer. Additional partitions may be purchased. Nickel

Style No.526 is a top till and seven drawer tool storage unit with an additional
convenient top center drawer for machinists'handbook storage. Storage capacity
provides 1768 cu. in. of usable tool space. N0. 526 has the same sturdy and lasting
construction as the fam0us Kennedy 520. Top till and drawers are felt lined to
protect precision tools. Chest is equipped with a quality cyiinder type lock, supple-
mented with two sturdy side catches. Heavy-duty plated handles 0n each end 0f
chest for easy handling. Drawers are equipped with Kennedy heavy-duty compound
slides with positive drawer stops, which allow drawers t0 open fully, but will not
permit spilling of contents. Adjustable partitions are furnished the same as in

Style No. 620 Machinist's Chest

Style No.620 is a top till three drawer unit for the machinist who doesn't need
or use the smaller drawers such as furnished in No. 520. The N0. 620 provides
1468 cu. in. of tool storage area and all drawers are felt lined t0 protect valuable
precision tools and instruments. All drawers slide on Kennedy heavy-duty steel
compound slides that will not stick, bind or break down under hard usage. When
fully extended, drawers offer a clear view of the contents and are sturdily sup-
ported by the male slide. This feature together with the positive drawer stops,
prevent drawers being accidentally pulled out of the case and spilling of the
contents. The male slide is plated to prevent rust and to give years of free and
easy operation. Lid stay holds lid in upright position when chest is in use. Drop-
front panel, which stores under drawers when chest is open, fits against drawers,
locking them with lid lock. Four adjustable partiti0ns are furnished with the N0.

Style No. 270 is a heavy-duty unit containing three drawers with an aggregate of
4284 cu. in. of usable tool storage space. ln addition, it features a large lower

and equipment or repair parts. Double wall body end construction plus wide top
and bottom pan flanges give this unit additional load carrying capacity. All Ken'
nedy roller cabinets have bodies welded to inside of bottom pans for increased
strength and safety-an exclusive leature with KENNEDY. Drawers work smoothly
with little effort. Slides will not stick, bind or break down under heavy loading and

No. 1017 General Mechanics' Kit
Style No. 1017 is the smallest of Kennedy hip-roof hand carry cases,
yet it contains a large 1256 cu. in. area of usable space. lt is
equipped with four cantilever trays, two with six compartments each
and two without partitions.
No. 1018 General Mechanics' Kit
Style No. 1018 is the same as No. 1017 except that it is 1" longer
2" wider and 2%" higher. This intermediate size case contains 2056
cu. in. of tool storage space. Tray arrangement is two divided into
six compartments each, and two open without partitions.

Case ends are double wall and double seamed construction with
vertical and horizontal end reinforcements welded in for greatest
rigidity. An additional horizontal reinforcement serves as a hinge
bar for the cantilever trays and forms a ledge on which the trays
rest when case is closed. Trays may be loaded to capacity without
distorting the box since they rest on this ledge and do not hang
from the tid. Trays work easily and tray levers ride on shoulder rivets
that act as solid bushings. Three strips welded on bottom provide
double protection for the bottom of the case, since these strips
take all the scuffing and wear. Two full length piano type hinges
support the hip-roof lids. Hinges are equipped with full length stain-
less steel hinge pins that are staked so that it is impossible to
remove them. Each case is equipped with a comfortable vinyl coated
full-grip steel shell handle, two nickel plated heavy-duty side catches
and a center draw bolt hasp and staple for locking. Furnished
/.4 in dark brown ripple baked enamel with contrasting green enameled
trays.

Style S-19 is a handy all-purpose tool kit with convenient lift out
tote tray. Tray has full-grip formed steel handle that is shaped to
fit the hand and prevents tipping and spilling while being carried
to the iob. Body is double seamed construction, with steel welded
on corner irons for extra protection and long service. Full length
piano hinge and sturdy hardware. Capacity is 931 cu. in.

KENNEDY-since
From a humble beginning in a back yard shed to a spa-
cious, modern and streamlined manufacturing plant of
over 80,000 square feet, this is the background history of
Kennedy Manufacturing Company and its progress since
the world's first all-metal tool box took shape in 1911'
It all started in Fort Wayne, lndiana when the late
Howard Kennedy, then an engineer on the Pennsylvania
Railroad, made a metal suitcase to protect the clothes
he carried on his engine. Being handy with tools and
having access to galvanized sheet metal at a nearby fac-
tory, Howard proceeded to design and hand make a metal
suitcase that would stand the rigors of engine bounce
and bumps, and would also resist the sparks, water and
steam of the coal burning iron horse.
Other trainmen saw the new metal case-wanted it
and Howard was in business making suitcases and va-
lises of sheet metal in a shed in his own back yard.
Charles Kennedy, a brother, then an advertising and mar-
keting executive in Chicago, visited Howard and found
him hard at work on this second love-he was an iron
1911
horseman at heart. Charles Kennedy, being naturally ob-
servant and curious, recognized the possibilities of new
horizons-and wider markets than just suitcases for
railroad men. Thus from a simple and humble beginning,
a new unit of commerce was conceived and born-the
"all-steel tool box industry." A new company, incorpo-
rated on December 1, 1911 by the two brothers, was then
and still is known as Kennedy Manufacturing Company,
and the first metal tool boxes were put on the market.
Since that memorable December 1st, Kennedy Manu-
facturing Company has steadily grown and their prod-
ucts, Kennedy Kits "all-steel" tool boxes, chests and
roller cabinets have become recognized as industry's
f inest in quality, workmanship and long life. Since mov-
ing into a three story building in Van Wert in 1915, Ken-
nedy Manufacturing Company has progressed through
four expansion programs increasing the original 14,100
square foot facility to over 80,000 square feet of mod-
ern manufacturing area. Kennedy has served industry
successfully for more than f ifty-six years.

The new Kennedy mini-size roller cabinets give you
a choice o'f two 2OYz" Lxl3Ve" D x 29" H units. No.
202-D at left is equipped with two sturdy easy open-
ing drawers and an open compartment at the bot-
tom. A center hinged full front cover locks to protect
tools when not in use. No. 203-5 at right, provides a
full open compartment, fitted with three generous
size shelves. Both units are made from heavy gauge
steel, the same that is used in building the stand-
ard line of Kennedy roller cabinets. All-welded con-
struction assures strength and rigidity. Either style
may be Versa-Cart or caster mounted.

No. 430 Versa-Cart, 43/gz" Lx2Or3/te" W, provides 896 square

inches of rugged heavy gauge steel platform space, mounted
on extra heavy load rated 10" wheels and 5" casters, swivel
