Stable Palatal Swellings: Differential Diagnosis and report of a rare

case

Disease of the palate may be local in nature or may reflect a systemic condition. As
palatal swellings pose problems to clinicians, dentists must be conscious of the
palate as the site of much possible pathosis. Clinically benign lesions can be
histologically malignant. This case report describes an uncommon benign tumor
that occurred in a rare intraoral location and suggests different lesions be included
as a possibility in the differential diagnosis of swellings of the palate.
The purpose of this paper/poster is to elaborate different palatal swellings and a
clinical classification of palatal masses is suggested to ease the clinical diagnosis
and to inform on the nature of these kinds of lesions.
