INDUSTRIAL WATER

Industrial water that we are taking from the FFBL is utilized at our plant FPCL at multiple
locations. This industrial water is separated from the water treatment section after the clarifier
and no further treatment is done on it, because of the fact that it is being used in process directly.
Its major use is as coolant or service water.

Different points at which this industrial water line is utilized are following:

1. The industrial water line comes from the FFBL plant on RACK 34.1 and then it divides
into two different lines when it reaches RACK 34.2.
2. One line goes towards the boiler and STG hall, and the second line goes to the left side
towards cooling tower and sorbent handling section.
3. The line that goes to the right side on RACK 34.2 is further divided into multiple lines.
 A service water of 1” line is extracted from the main IW supply header that comes
to the ground level near IA,PA compressor CIK-1011A.
 Then two lines are taken from the main supply header of IW and both these lines
go towards the boiler # 1 on RACK 34.3. One line that is of large diameter is
utilized as service water line and it is further divided into six lines (One line goes
towards the bag house and other five lines are utilized at boiler section). The
second line that is of 2” goes to the blowdown tank and here the industrial water
is used as the quenching water to cool down the blowdown water to a temperature
about 60oC. This line has a valve TCV-1013-11 with gate walls at its upstream
and downstream and a drain line after the TCV, and also has a bypass line of 2”
with a normally closed globe valve.
 Then a service line is taken from the main supply header and that comes near the
ground near BFW pump CSP-5011A. This line has a globe wall.
 Then two lines separate from the main supply line and go towards the boiler unit
# 2 on RACK 34.4. Their purpose is same as that of the IW lines going towards
the boiler unit #1 (Second bullet point).
 Next along the Rack 34.2, a line separates from the main supply header and goes
into the STG hall on RACK 34.5 towards STG-III. This line is of 2” dia. A 1”
service water line with a globe wall NC is separated from the main 2” line.. Then
a half inch line is separated from this 2’ line and goes to the lube oil dirt separator
CES-3052 having a gate valve and then a ball valve before entering the dirt
separator. The main 2” line then goes into the atmospheric startup tank of STG-
III. This main line has a control valve with gate valves installed at its upstream
and downstream, and also has a bypass line with a globe valve.
 Next along the Rack 34.2, another line separates from the main supply header and
goes into the STG hall on RACK 34.6 towards STG-II. This line is of 2” dia. A 1”
service water line with a globe wall NC is separated from the main 2” line. The
main 2” line then goes into the atmospheric startup tank CET 2060 of STG-II.
This main line has a control valve with gate valves installed at its upstream and
downstream, and also has a bypass line with a globe valve.
 Next along the Rack 34.2, another line separates from the main supply header and
goes into the STG hall on RACK 34.7 towards STG-I. This line is of 2” dia. A 1”
service water line with a globe wall NC is separated from the main 2” line. The
main 2” line then goes into the atmospheric startup tank CET 1060 of STG-I. This
main line has a control valve with gate valves installed at its upstream and
downstream, and also has a bypass line with a globe valve.
 Next along the Rack 34.2, a line separates from the main supply header and goes
into the STG hall on RACK 34.8 towards STG-IV. This line is of 2” dia. A 1”
service water line with a globe wall NC is separated from the main 2” line. Then a
half inch line is separated from this 2’ line and goes to the lube oil dirt separator
CES-4052 having a gate valve and then a ball valve before entering the dirt
separator. The main 2” line then goes into the atmospheric startup tank CET 4060
of STG-IV. This main line has a control valve with gate valves installed at its
upstream and downstream, and also has a bypass line with a globe valve.
SERVICE WATER LINE TOWARDS BOILER UNIT #1

The service water line that is actually industrial water line going towards the boiler unit is
divided into multiple lines that are utilized at different points.

 Going along the line at RACK 34.3 a 1” line separates from the main header and comes
on the ground level near the closed loop cooling tower FIT (FE-CX-1265-01). This line
reduces into 0.5” from 1” and then has a NC globe valve.
 Then a drain line is separated from the main line and the condensate is drained in the pit
near blowdown tank.
 Then going along the supply line, a line is separated and it divides into two lines 1” each.
 One line goes near the loop seal blower
 And the other line goes near the limestone blower
 The main line goes towards the top floor of the boiler section up to the drum. At second
floor a line separates from the main line and goes towards the left and right side of the
burners and both lines have a reducer 1” * 0.5” and then a globe valve NC.
 The final line goes to the drum level and on the left side of the steam drum the service
water line is installed with a reducer and a NC globe valve.
 Another line from the second floor separates from the main supply service water line and
goes towards the baghouse.
 On the second floor a line separates from this main line and it divides into three
service lines at different points near the bag house compartments lower section.
 And then the main line goes on the top of the bag house and here again the line
divides into three different service lines with globe valves on it.
