ALTHOUGH ELECTION DAY WAS NOV.
6, IT TOOK 10 DAYS FOR REPUBLICAN
BRIAN KEMP TO OFFICIALLY BE
DECLARED THE GOVERNOR-ELECT OF
GEORGIA. DESPITE RECEIVING ONLY
48 PERCENT OF THE OVERALL VOTE,
DEMOCRAT STACEY ABRAMS
REFUSED TO CONCEDE UNTIL ALL
VOTES WERE COUNTED.

Georgia is just within reach, but we cannot
seize it until all voices are heard.”
IN THE WEEKS LEADING UP TO THE
ELECTION, KEMP WAS CRITICIZED
FOR ABUSING HIS POWER AS
GEORGIA’S SECRETARY OF STATE BY
IMPLEMENTING STRINGENT VOTING
LAWS AND REGULATIONS THAT
TARGETED BLACK RESIDENTS. ON
ELECTION DAY, MANY BLACK
VOTERS IN METRO ATLANTA FACED
CHALLENGES AT THE POLLS.
:12 “They had lines around the wall, but the
guy said it would move pretty fast. They were
moving when I first got there, then suddenly
 everything stopped. They came out and told
us the machines were down and that we’d
have to get paper ballots.”

Willie Phifer :10 “I got there, and they had a long line this
Georgia Voter morning. There was a thing going on with the
lights in there. They were flashing off and
on.”
