pressure jet burner, shall give a minimum net efficiency at full load of 93%.
6. The Boiler shall have a 3 pass design with a cylindrical water shell and a cylindrical
combustion chamber, which shall be completely surrounded by a water jacket. The large
combustion chamber shall provide a minimum primary heat release rate of 1.5 MW/m 2 to
achieve long life and reduce NOX formation. The second pass shall be a nest of
cylindrical tubes. The heating surface of the third pass shall also be the nest of dimpled
high quality boiler tubes.
7. Hot water flow shall be from the top front of the shell with return to the bottom rear end
plate. System design should ensure that the return temperature does not fall below 50 º C
for the use of heating oil (EL) and 55 º C for the use of natural Gas.
To prevent corrosion the heating surface (second and third pass) is located in the upper
part of the boiler.
8. To reduce standing losses the boiler has a fully enclosed casing with a total of 80 mm of
insulation around the main boiler shell and 30 mm insulation on the boiler door front and
around the rear insulated smoke box.
9. For easy maintenance and cleaning, the boiler door is full face opening (by 90º) and be
capable of being handed right or left. The direction of the swivel for the door can be
changed from left to right in a few minutes. The wide cleaning opening provides
maintenance personnel with easy access to the combustion chambers as well as to the
pipe for the 2nd and 3rd flue. It should have a central flame inspection sight glass to
assist with correct burner combustion setting.
10. The boiler is supplied with a control panel containing all the required safety controls and
provides the option for additional volt free contacts for connections to a B.M.S. system.
The insulated casing is supplied separately for easy assembly at site after local boiler
housework has been completed.

5.10.2 Chimney

1. The Contractor shall supply, deliver and erect in the position shown on drawing a self-
supported chimney with flue connections, rain. caps and clean out openings as shown or
drawings

2. Each chimney shall be of twin wall construction, manufactured in accordance with the
latest edition of BS. 5750 part 2 and EN 29002 and shall be connected to the boilers
breaching.
3. The internal wall shall be fabricated of stainless steel 316 sheet of thickness 1 mm,
fabricated under the quality control of factory conditions with a continuous vertical seam
weld of the inner liner and flanged by 12 mm to form a connection end with other pieces
on site and shall be provided with exit nozzles as necessary to maintain a minimum efflux
velocity of 6 m/s at full load on each flue independently of the other flues being
operational.
4. The inner wall of the chimney shall be insulated with 75 mm thick mineral wool then
embossed by 0.7 mm with aluminized steel cladding where chimney run in shafts and of
0.7 mm and stainless steel 316 cladding in all surface exposed areas with a suitable
capping plate at the top of the chimney.
5. The construction of the chimney shall allow for the necessary differential extension
movement between the internal flue and the external thermal wall. Such extension shall
be compensated by stainless steel expansion bellows.
6. Each chimney shall be complete with access doors for clean out purposes, drain
connections and lightning conductor fitted in a boss welded of the top of the stack
7. The chimney shall be fastened by Vee bands over all matting flanges of adjacent
components, throughout its length, as it shall be sealed internally and on all flanges by
appropriate thermal resistant sealant specially manufactured for such purposes
8. The chimney shall also be provided with 2 No brass earthing bolts located on the base
plate.

9. The chimney and flue shall be provided with suitable foundations, base plates, gussets
and holding down bolts all to the Engineers requirements.
10. The chimney shall be manufactured from sections which shall be externally flanged , the
flanges shall be fastened by channel bands fitted in grooves in the outer casings
11. The stack section joints shall be sealed be use of containment bands with captive
fasteners and high temperature joint sealant.
12. The chimney stacks shall be supported to structure by galvanized steel and wall guides,
which shall be fastened on two sides of the slab of each floor, or at 3.0 meters intervals
(whichever is smaller).
