B. MOTIVATION
Before we go on to our next lesson. I prepared a sort of activity-
a motivation. I have here a set of words that all covered. What
you need to do is to guess the word/s by means of the picture
above the word/s that serves as your clue. The one who will
guess the word will identify by means of passing the ball and
when the music’s stop the one who holding the ball will guess
the word. Yes Sir!

Are we clear class? Yes Sir!

Are you ready class?
(When the music stop the student that
holding the ball will be the one who guess
the word)
1.

Student 1: Needle-nose Plier

______-____ _____
2.

Student 2: Head screwdriver

____ ___________
3.

Student 3: Loopback adapter

________ _______

4.

Student 4: Flashlight
________ _______

5.

Student 5: Cable Ties

_____ ____

Are you familiar with those word you guessed? Yes Sir!
No Sir!

For, those who said yes, It is good for you that you have a
background about that words. It can be a good help for you later
on.
And for those, who said they not familiar. Later on class we will
OK Sir!
discuss all about this

C. ACTIVITY (Part of discussion)

Class I will be group you in to five (5). Each group have there on
pictures need to be complete. After you completed the puzzle
you may paste this on the board. I will give you 1 minute 30
seconds to do the activity. After that, the student is to share and
give their insight about the pictures. I will be given you 2 Yes Sir
minutes to do the task. I want you to be active and be
cooperative to our activity. Is that clear class?

Picture to be include in the puzzle:

The student will be group into 5 groups.

And each group need to complete a
puzzle picture.
D. ANALYSIS
Sir the picture is all about the tools and
1. What can you say about the pictures? devices and Personal protective
equipment.

2. Can you name each tools and devices?

(The student who want to answer will
raise their right hand) Sir the first tools is
what we called flat head screwdriver, the
next one is the Phillip screwdriver, torx
screwdriver, needle nose plier, wire
cutter, cable ties, part retriever, anti-static
mat, flashlight and multi meter.

3. Where do you think we used this tools and devices? I think we use that tools and devices in
diagnosing or repairing computer.
OK thank you class!
It seems that you are all ready to our next lesson. Let’s go on.
Our topic for today is hand tools and safety devices use in
diagnosing computer.

E. DISCUSSION
HARDWARE TOOLS
To complete hardware repairs, it is important to have a toolkit
that should contain all of the necessary tools. As you gain
experience, you will learn which tools to have available for
different types of jobs. Hardware tools are grouped into these
four categories:

 ELECTRO-STATIC DISCHARGE (ESD) TOOLS

Static electricity is easily generated by friction on carpets,
tile flooring, clothing, hair, fabric, and etc. The friction of
moving air alone will charge suspended particles and cause
the buildup of static electrical charges on people and objects
in the environment. Grounded antistatic work mats used with
antistatic wrist straps provide the most basic means for the
controlled discharge of electrostatic electricity. Examples of
ESD Tools:

Anti-static wrist strap – used to

prevent ESD damage to computer
equipment.
Anti-static mat – used to stand on
or place hardware on to prevent
static electricity from building up.

 HAND TOOLS
A hand tool is a device for
performing work on a material or a physical system using only
hands. The hand tools can be manually used employing force,
or electrically powered, using electrical current. Examples of
Hand Tools:

Flat Head screwdriver – used to

loosen or tighten slotted screws.

Philips head screwdriver – used to

loosen or tighten crosshead screws.

Torx screwdriver - used to loosen

or tighten screws that have a star-like
depression on the top, a feature that
is mainly found on laptop.

Hex driver – sometimes called a nut

driver, is used to tighten nuts in the
same way that a screwdriver tightens
screws.

Needle-nose plier – used to hold

small parts.
Wire cutter – used to strip and cut
wires.

Tweezers – used to manipulate

small parts.

Part retriever – used to retrieve

parts from location that are to small
for your hand to fit.

Flashlight – used to light up areas

that you cannot see well.

 CLEANING TOOLS
Having the appropriate cleaning tools is essential when
maintaining or repairing computers. Using these tools ensures
that computer components are not damaged during cleaning.
Examples:

Lint-free cloth – used to clean

different computer components
without scratching or
leaving debris.

Compressed air – used to blow

away dust and debris from different
computer parts without touching the
components.
Cable ties – used to bundle cables
neatly inside and outside of a
computer.

Parts organizer – used to hold

screw, jumpers, fasteners and other
small parts and prevents them from
getting mixed together.

 DIAGNOSTIC TOOLS
Computers are easier to use and more dependable with each
new generation of hardware and operating system update, but
that doesn't mean they're problem-free. Here's the most popular
tools for diagnosing your computer problems:

Multimeter – used to test the

integrity of circuits and the quality of
electricity in computer components.

Loopback Adapter – used to test

the functionality of computer ports.

F. GENERALIZATION
1. Who can synthesize our discussion for today? We discussed today the different hand
tools and safety devices used in
diagnosing computer.

2. What are the 4 categories of hardware tools use in The four categories of hardware tools we
diagnosing computer? discussed are:
Diagnostic tools
Hand tools
Electro-static discharge (esd) tools
include PPE)
Cleaning devices

3. Can you give example for each categories? Sir, In Diagnostic tools we have multi-
meter, Loopback adapter.
For Hand tools we have-Pliers,
screwdrivers, part retriever.
For Electro-static discharge (esd) tools
(includes PPE) we have anti-static mat
And last for Cleaning devices we have
free lint cloth and cable ties.
Ok class very Good. It seems that you learned a lot I prepared
an application of what you learned.
G. APPLICATION
Same group as in the previous activity. What you need to do is
you act like a computer technician at DO IT COMPANY. You
are tasked by your supervisor to repair a desktop computer in
the shop, but you must wear proper PPE and safety devices for
you to perform your duties and minimize injury and damage in
your computer parts. Here are some of the typical situations you
may encounter when working to shop. Provide an appropriate
PPE, Safety devices, and Hand tools that you should use to
each situation. And you need to demonstrate by means of short Yes Sir.
