 The purpose and anticipated end result of this event

 The type and amount of support involved (volunteers, etc.)

 The total anticipated budget

 Other information you deem pertinent

I, as a Course Registration Assistant, am working with the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Student Success

Coordinators to create an event on April 12, the first day that most freshmen will be able to register, called Midnight

Madness. The purpose of this event is to get as many freshman students as possible registered for classes. Many

freshman will procrastinate when it comes to getting together with their advisor and registering for their classes, so this

event will hopefully get students excited to get advised and register for their fall semester classes. There will be an

evaluation after this event to see how many freshman students are registered, and the goal is to have more students

registered than last year. There are four other Course Registration Assistants that have just been hired who will be

helping plan this event, and Kacie Ellis, a Student Success Coordinator, will be assisting with this process. Kacie and I

have come up with all the plans thus far. There will be no volunteers, but only CRAs, RAs, and Student Success

Coordinators. The anticipated budget is about $2,000. That includes like 60 pizzas and 20 2-liters, buying “I registered”

stickers, printing fliers and handouts, CRA t-shirts, and other promotional handouts like sunglasses, water bottles, and

keychains. The event will be held from 10 pm to 1 am in the Castle Heights Lobby.

Goals/Objectives
State the desired goals and objectives of this event.

Also, include key benefits of reaching goals/objectives. Use whatever space you need.

 The main goal of this event is to get students excited to get advised and register. There will also be tabling

involved to help students find who their advisors are, and see if they have any holds on their accounts so

that there are no obstacles in their way to get advised and register for fall classes.

Evaluation
Discuss how progress will be evaluated throughout and at the end of the project.

The event will be evaluated by seeing the number of freshman students who register. We will compare

these numbers to the amount of freshman who were registered at the same time the year prior. The event

will be considered successful if that number goes up. We hope to get students excited to register and

continue in their majors.

Post Evaluation and ROI
Evaluate your event based on your insider perspective. Was it successful? What could you have done
better? Will there be another event, and what will you change after this experience, etc.

I believe that Midnight Madness went well. It was not super busy, but I feel like we helped a lot of students.

There should have been more students involved, but the ones that were involved definitely benefitted from

the event. We could use some more advisors from the different colleges. Only the college of business

advisors attended. We had too much pizza for the amount of students who came. I think that making a

Center for Teaching and Learning Facebook page with an event might be something we could do next

year. We took pictures this year, just in case that happened. So, we could have promoted it more

efficiently by using social media. I think that we will be doing it again next semester during the registration

period, and market to our key public, APSU freshmen, a little better. In regards to the return on investment, I

believe it was worth it because we did get a lot of students registered, but we should have had more. If we

do the event again and still do not get a lot of freshmen to come, then we might have to reconsider the

event entirely.
