I would like both my grandparents and grandchildren to have a balanced diet as the body needs the
right nutrients at their age. To get the proper nutrition from your diet, you should consume the
majority of your daily calories through fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and
lean proteins.
Fora child the food intake may vary based on their growth patterns.
Healthy food is required so that it helps the child to concentrate,
learn, stay energised and grow. A balanced diet is required so that
the child doesnt develop deficiencies. They should have enough
fluid intake especially water and limited cold drinks. Kids are active
and require a lot of energy throughout the day,
Food with high energy should be given such as nuts,
seeds, yogurt, cream and milk. Fruit and vegies give your
child energy, vitamins, anti-oxidants, fiber and water.
They help protect your child's body against all kinds of
diseases. Grain foods such as cereal. rice. is required to
give the child the energy to grow and learn, Foods with
lots of protein include meat. fish, chicken eggs, beans,
lentils, chickpeas, tofu and nuts is important for your
child's growth and muscle development. These foods
also contain other useful vitamins and minerals
Children become picky and sometimes feeding them healthy
food can be a task, hence the food needs to be disguised with
something that tastes and looks good, Food such as multigrain
baked chips, bread with cream spread, favored yogurt, fruit cake
fried vegetable with dips and cheese, veg/ non-veg atta rolls,
favored milk, badam/ almond tadoo. Sweets and junk food such
as cake, chips, and fizzy drinks should be given on occasions
In the case of my grandparents, with old age they have begun to eat less so | would make sure your
diet has enough variety to include all the nutrition you need. | would encourage them to eat foods
that are nutrient dense rather than energy dense, including eggs, lean meats, fish, liver, low-fat dairy
foods, nuts and seeds, legumes, fruit and vegetables, wholegrain breads, porridge and cereals. As
their bones start to become weak, spending time outside and having yogurt would increase their
vitamin D intake. They should have foods that are naturally high in fiber to encourage bowel health.
Food should be prepared such that are soft and easy to digest. Plenty of fruits should be eaten as
they are antioxidants like vitamin C and vitamin € - can help keep your cells healthy.
