Title; SOUTHEAST ASIA MALAY ARTS FESTIVAL

Background
Southeast Asia is the center of the development of Malay civilization, a culture born from the
dynamics of Malay family life spreading across various land areas and islands of several countries,
Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore and Indonesia. The heritage of Malay culture
can be traced from the relics of various Malay sultanates that once became the center of life and the
development of Malay cultural art in the form of literature, music, dance, theater of nobility, and
innumerable regalia. Today, however, the discourse about Malayness has often undermined the role
and importance of Malay civilization. Therefore, efforts should be made to explore, map and redefine
Malay in the real scope. This is the basis for the International Seminar of the Asian Malay Art Festival
