Overview & Purpose Education Standards Addressed

Mathematics: Data, Sorting and Categorizing. Seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.
Students will be able to differentiate between the four seasons. Students will be able to complete
a word chart to describe each season. The student will then be able to complete a sorting and
categorizing activity with pictures that represent seasonal items. The student will create a
seasonal poster with shapes and words to describe the seasons.
Mathematics- Grade 1.6.A
(6)- The student applies mathematical process standards to analyze
attributes of two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional solids to
develop generalizations about their properties.
(A)- Classify and sort regular and irregular two-dimensional shapes
based on attributes using informal geometric language.
