e Learning Objective The student will solve multistep linear and quadratic equations in two
n variables, including
t a) solving literal equations (formulas) for a given variable;
b) justifying steps used in simplifying expressions and solving
equations, using field properties and axioms of equality that are valid
for the set of real numbers and its subsets;
P Activity After this lesson students will be able to solve linear equations with
e two variables by simplifying their equation. First the teacher will show
d an example on the board of the type of equations the student will be
a handling. The teacher will do about 3 examples on the board with the
g students and walking them through each step. Once the students
o have the hang of the examples the teacher will ask if more is needed
g or if they are ready to do it on their own. Once ready the teacher
y would use SMART EXCHANGE powerpoint. The teacher would give
out scrap paper to each student and individually they would complete
the question on the board which they would be allowed to work on
for 5 minutes. Then the teacher will ask for a volunteer to go up and
show their work by selecting on the pencil icon on the top to write
out what they did they will also explaining each step that they took.
Then we would ask if anyone in the class had something different and
if they would like to share. As a group the class will determine which
of the answers are correct or not. As a group we will continue to
move on till all the questions have been answered.
