Dear Ms. Smith:

I am a member of Feeding America Southwest Virginia (FASWVA) and I work with FASWVA
in Blacksburg. This year, we are looking for help to create Thanksgiving baskets for families in
our area who may not be able to afford a Thanksgiving meal. In order to achieve this, I would
like student volunteers from Blacksburg High School to help pack the baskets for delivery. The
food packing will begin at 9 a.m. on Nov. 17 in the Blacksburg High School gym. This is a great
way for students to give back to their community around the holidays.

The holiday season is a time for our community to come together and support those who are
financially unable to support themselves. This program enables volunteers to directly impact the
local area. I am willing to sign off on volunteer hours for those who assist in packaging these
baskets. More often colleges are looking for service orientated students. This would be a great
opportunity for students put on college applications

Together, we can make a difference in our local community. Please do not hesitate to reach out
