Dear Ms. Smith:

I am a representative with Feeding America Southwest Virginia and my organization is

partnering with Virginia Tech to help local families that do not have the means to afford a
Thanksgiving spread. This year, we will be collecting donations for Thanksgiving baskets for
local families in need of food for their Thanksgiving meal until Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. Donations can
be dropped off at Burruss Hall.

The holiday season is a time to come together and give to the people around you to help them
celebrate like you can. Sweet potatoes, canned goods, rolls, vegetables and other Thanksgiving
meal classics will be a great addition to our baskets. Donating items for the baskets is a great
way for students to give back to the community that hosts them nine months out of the year.
