1. What is a Research? Explain the significance of research in social and business
sciences.
2. Explain the main points of difference between a Schedule and a Questionnaire.
Draw up a schedule of about
15 questions designed to collect information about the decline in the sale of
milk of a company in Karaikudi district.
3. Explain the term hypothesis. Bring out the characteristics and types of
hypothesis.
4. How would you differentiate between simple random sampling and complex
random sampling design? Explain clearly giving examples.
5. Explain different research designs commonly applied in business studies.
6. “Experimental method of research is not suitable in management field”. Discuss
what are problems in adopting this research design in business organizations.
7. Explain the significance of a research report and describe the various steps
involved in writing such a report.
8. Write short notes on the following :
(a) Cross tabulation
(b) Factor analysis
(c) Chisquare test

Test the significance of difference between mean marks at 0.05 level of

6. (a) What is ANOVA? Describe briefly the technique of analysis of variance
for oneway and twoway classifications. (10)
(b) Below are given the yields per acre of wheat for six plots entering a crop
competition, there of the plots being sown with wheat of variety A and
three with B. (10)

Set up a table of analysis of variance and calculate F. State whether the
difference between the yields of two varieties is significant taking 7.71 as
the table value of F at 5% level for V1 1 and V2 4 .
7. (a) Discuss the advantages and limitations of a Likert Scale.

(b) A certain manure was used on four plots of land A, B, C and D. Four beds were
prepared in each plot and the manure used. The output of the crop in the
beds of Plots A, B, C and D is given below : (10)

4. What are the exchange rate systems in vogue? Discuss the pros and cons of such
systems.
5. Describe the various strategies adopted by MNCs for entering into multinational
markets.
6. Discuss the IRR and NPV models in assessing investment decisions. Are they
one and the same? How?
7. Critically examine the trends in international trade in India. Do you consider it
positively towards the contribution of India’s economic development?
