Classroom Aiding Reflection Journal

What was my assignment this week while working in the classroom?

This week I had my final observation of me teaching my lesson plan that I

designed. There was a lot of stress going into that so I am glad to have it done with.

Other than my lesson that I had been working on, I have also been put in charge of

organizing the material that I should be teaching to my students. This has been stressful

because I don’t necessarily know the structure and direction I should be going.

However, my mentor teacher has continued to affirm me that whatever I do with it is

probably fine as long as I continue to work towards the students’ goals.

What is my analysis of my work effort and participation?

This week I have felt myself putting in a lot of work into my students. Each week I

feel that I am gaining more and more control of what the students are learning and how

it should be taught to them. Especially with organizing the content I am teaching them, it

gives me a feel of what it will be like to be a teacher. This will be my life everyday. At this

point in the semester, my students respect me as a teacher so it is easier for me to put

on my “teacher hat” at this school. I tend to play the role better especially when

everyone is treating me like that role.

What is something I learned this week that I won’t forget?

This week I learned that positive relationships between the students really do

work! My student that always refused to come with me and hid from me, now comes

willingly into the resource room. Every day before we start the lesson, I explain my

expectations and we work through the student’s goals for the day together. This student

is starting to trust me and allow me to work with him. This week has been progress and

it is encouraging for me!
