The Prince’s Sparrow

Once there was a prince who had a sparrow that was so intelligent that it could also
talk. The sparrow loved the prince so much but it was so naughty. It always played tricks on
the prince.
One day, as the prince was sleeping, he smelled something bad on his face. He turned
around to see who did it. He saw the sparrow by the window pecking grains. So the prince
cleaned his face and went to sleep again. The same thing happened so he cleaned his face,
went back to bed half closed his eyes but did not sleep. The he saw the bird flying quite low
above his face.
“Aha! So you are the one who has been playing tricks on me, ha? I will punish you. I
will remove all your feathers so the people will laugh at you.
The bird pleaded with the prince. But do you think he was forgiven?

PASSAGE B
News Report

Two bottlenose dolphins were found dead at the Tondaligan Beach here and
on the shores of neighboring Binmaley town in Pangasinan province, in what has
turned out to be a series of beaching in Lingayen Gulf since Monday.

Dagupan Mayor Belen Fernandez informed the NIFTDC Office that on


Tuesday four dolphins have beached in Pugaro. He said the dolphins had fresh
wounds. The chief of the NIFTDC, Westly Rosario, said four of the dolphins were
released back to the sea. But the other one was reportedly taken by a fisherman from
Agoo for food.

Informational Text

Dolphins come in different sizes. Some are smaller than the average
person. Others, such as the Orca, can be 30 feet long, or more than five times
as long as the average person. Dolphins are thought to be very intelligent.
They communicate with each other using clicks and whistles. All dolphins ar e
powerful swimmers.
