INSIDE A CAFÉ – DAYTIME

Marta (18) is sat with a cup of tea in front of her. She doesn´t stop staring at her phone.
SOUND of an incoming message.
CRISTINA (OVERLAY)
Marta, look up!
Marta lifts up her head.
CRISTINA (18) and ALBA (18) greet her, each with a coffee in one hand and their mobile in the
other. They sit down next to her.
Alba takes a selfie and types something.
SOUNDS OF INCOMING MESSAGES. The other two check their phones.
A “selfie” pops up on the screen of one of the girl's phones with the title “COFFEE WITH FRIENDS”.
They laugh and type hearts.
Each one continues on their phones, enjoying their drinks without breaking eye contact with the
screen for a single second.
Cristina is surprised and types something.
CRISTINA (OVERLAY)
Attention girls, incredible photo of Maria on Facebook.
The other girls check their phones. They smile malevolently.
MARTA (OVERLAY)
So, what are we doing today?
ALBA (OVERLAY)
Shall we meet up tonight to do something?
CRISTINA (OVERLAY)
Shall we go to the cinema?
ALBA (OVERLAY)
But in the cinema we can´t talk. What do you think about going for a walk and looking for pokemons?
Emojis expressing approval pop up.
CAROL (18) appears.
CAROL
Hi guys!
The others raise their heads and wave without looking away from their phones.
CAROL
How are you all? Shall we go to the theatre today…
The other girls ignore her. They carry on texting or whatever it is they’re doing.
CAROL
Ok then, shall we try out that new pizzeria that has just opened?
Carol´s vibrating phone interrupts her. She looks at it.
MARTA (OVERLAY)
Carol, please can you grab me some sugar from the bar?
Carol looks towards Marta, who smiles and non-verbally pleads with her.
Carol goes towards the bar, somewhat disgruntled. When she gets to the bar she shakes her head.
CAROL
It's incredible. Social media is so ........
Her phone vibrates again.
WAITER (OVERLAY)
Hello, what can I get you?
Carol, astonished, looks towards the bar in the café. In front of her is the WAITER (30) smiling with a
phone in his hand.
Carol can´t believe it.
INT. CAFETERÍA - DÍA
MARTA (18) está sentada con un té delante. No deja de mirar su móvil.
SONIDO de un mensaje.
CRISTINA (SOBREIMPRESO)
Marta, mira hacia arriba.
Marta levanta la cabeza.
CRISTINA (18) y ALBA (18) la saludan, cada una con un café en la mano y con su móvil en la otra.
Se sientan a su lado.
Alba se hace un "selfie" y teclea algo.
SONIDOS DE MENSAJE, y las otras dos consultan su móvil.
En la pantalla del de uno de ellas aparece el "selfie" con el título CAFECITO CON LAS AMIGAS.
Se ríen y teclean corazones.
Sigue cada una con su móvil tomando su bebida sin apartar los ojos ni un segundo de la pantalla.
Cristina se sorprende y teclea algo.
CRISTINA (SOBREIMPRESO)
Atención chicas, increíble foto de María en facebook...
Las otras consultan su móvil. Sonríen malignas.
MARTA (SOBREIMPRESO)
Bueno, ¿Qué hacemos hoy?
ALBA (SOBREIMPRESO)
¿Quedamos esta noche para hacer algo?
CRISTINA (SOBREIMPRESO)
¿Y si vamos al cine?
ALBA (SOBREIMPRESO)
Es que en el cine no podemos hablar. ¿Que os parece si damos una vuelta y buscamos pokemons?
aparecen emoticonos de aprobación.
Aparece CAROL (18).
CAROL
Hola.
Las otras levantan la cabeza y la saludan sin apartar los ojos del móvil.
CAROL
¿Cómo estáis, chicas? ¿Qué tal si hoy vamos al teatro...
Las otras no hacen ni caso. Siguen chateando o lo que sea que hagan.
CAROL
Esto... ¿por que no vamos a la pizzería nueva que han abierto?
VIBRA el teléfono de Carol. Lo mira.
MARTA (SOBREIMPRESO)
Carol, por favor, ¿Puedes pasarme el azúcar que está en la barra?
Carol mira hacia Marta, que sonríe y suplica con la cara.
Carol va hacia la barra, algo contrariada. Cuando llega a la barra niega con la cabeza.
CAROL
Es increible, las redes sociales son...
De nuevo VIBRA su móvil.
CAMARARERO (SOBREIMPRESO)
Hola ¿Qué te pongo?
Carol, asombrada, mira hacia la barra de la cafetería.
Frente a ella está el CAMARERO (30) sonriendo con el móvil en la mano.
