FOOTING CONNECTION BETWEEN

OLD CONCRETE TO NEW CONCRETE

FOOTINGS REFERENCE DRAWING:

1. DESIGN CODES & REFERENCES

The following Code of Practice and Standards are appropriate for the proposed plate design.
· BS 6399 Part – 1: Design Loading for Buildings: Code of practice for Dead and Imposed
load.
· BS 5950; Code of Practice of structural use of steel.
· QCS Standard (2014): Qatar Construction Specification.

2. MATERIALS

Materials in general are considered to be in accordance with British Standard Code of Practices. Concrete
grade for all reinforced concrete structure shall be in complying with the BS 8110.

Structural Steel:
Steel Grade : 355 N /mm2
Density of Steel : 78.50 KN /m3
Modulus of Elasticity of Steel Es : 200 x 106 KN /m2
Poisson Ratio µ : 0.3

ATTACHEMENT-3
WELD DESIGN
Max. Span of “L” winkel (150*100*10 mm) = 1.80 m

Height between L Winkel = 2.20m

Therefore, wind load contributed area to L winkel = 1.80* 2.20/2 =1.98 m2

Wind load on structure 2.0 kN/m2 (Assumed conservatively)

Live load on structure 0.740 kN/m (or) 1.10 kN

Factored combined load on L Winkel =1.2WL+1.2LL

=1.2 (1.98 *2) +1.2 (1.8*0.740) =4.752+1.60

= 6.17 kN. Say 7.00 kN.

(Or)
=1.2 (1.98 *2) +1.2 (1.10) = 4.752+1.32

=5.89 say 7.00 kN (Shear load)

Max. Span of “Hohlprofil” = 50*30*2.6 mm

Same load consider for weld design = 7.00 kN. (Shear load)
