INTRODUCTION

The best part about spiritual war is “revenge”. All of the following Brazilian Quimbanda
spells and rituals are real and authentic. I have personally used all of them over the past
years to defeat and triumph over my occult enemies. All of the following spells and rituals
should be followed exactly as they are presented here in this book if you want to see fast
magical results and success. I hope that you enjoy them as I have over the past years of
working in the world of Brazilian black magic in the “world of colored darkness”.

Lately, I have received a number of requests asking for help and guidance in relation to
psychic or spiritual attacks. When I start to receive multiple requests on the same subject,
it is time to write up what I know so that I can, I hope, help as many people as possible.

RELIGIOUS TRADITIONS OF THE AMERICAN CANDOMBLE CHURCH

The following religious book was written for the initiates of the Congregation of the
American Candomble Church. In the year 2003, the Casa Montenegro Spiritual Temple was
formally organized into the American Candomble Church to preserve the unique and
historical religious traditions of the mysteries of the Afro-Brazilian Candomble De Congo
religious tradition and the Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda religious tradition that have been
uniquely practiced by the De Bourbon-Montenegro Family of Brazil and have successfully
survived for more than 148 years. All books written and published by the American
Candomble Church for its religious clergy and religious Congregation are considered sacred
and holy and that the religious doctrine and religious theology have only been made
possible through the Divine Intercession of Nzambi and the Holy Quimbanda Trinity. In our
sacred teachings and religious doctrines, the American Candomble Church recognizes that
we are not the only religious group of practitioners of the Quimbanda religious tradition.
The American Candomble Church also acknowledges that there are many religious
variations of the Quimbanda religious tradition that presently exist and that are practiced
throughout the world, but we believe that we are Nzambi’s chosen people. The American
Candomble Church believes that our particular historical religious traditions have been
ordained by Nzambi are unique and it has evolved into the most orthodox Congo derived
gnostic religious tradition in its truest and purest form of the Quimbanda religious practice
as brought to Earth by Nzambi, the “God of Heaven”. The initiates and religious
Congregation of the American Candomble Church believe that Nzambi has chosen our
“Church” and our particular Quimbanda religious tradition to speak directly through our
Prophets of our Church and to the religious clergy of the American Candomble Church to
deliver the “Divine Word of Nzambi” to his children here on Earth. The American
Candomble Church believes that there is no God but Nzambi, the “Divine Heavenly Creator
of the Heavens and the Earth”, the “Sacred Breath” which gave the Universe life. Let all on
Earth bow down to Him for He is the “Lord our God”, and the “Lord of Lords” and there is
no other. For all of these historical reasons, the religious clergy and the religious
Congregation of the American Candomble Church believe that our sacred and holy
religious traditions have been ordained by Nzambi (God) and our "Church" will continue to
grow old and survive into the 21st Century and even beyond. The religious theology and
religious doctrine of the Prophets of the American Candomble Church has been confirmed
by divine religious law that we are Nzambi’s chosen people.

AN INTRODUCTION TO BRAZILIAN QUIMBANDA

The historical roots of the present day Quimbanda religious tradition are distinctly African.
The great African slave trade that lasted from 1514 - 1866 brought a lasting African
cultural presence to Brazil and to the Americas. Quimbanda is an Afro-Brazilian religion
practiced primarily in the urban city centers of Brazil. Quimbanda practices are typically
associated with prayers and rituals associated with a mixture of various forms of
spirituality. Before and even after the African diaspora, the present day religious faith of
Quimbanda merged with other religious traditions and it is a mixture of ancient European
Necromancy and Sorcery, Congo religious traditions, indigenous native Indian beliefs from
the Amazon Rain Forest, European Spiritualism and the Jewish Kabbalistic magical religious
tradition.

Over the course of 500 years of shaping in the New World, the Quimbanda faith, through
spiritual evolution has emerged and become a very distinct religious belief that is widely
accepted as a legitimate religious tradition.Although distinctly different from its original
religious practice which had its roots in the African Congo, the religious concept is identical
in terms of religious structure and ritual practice.

The word Quimbanda (Kimbanda) actually comes from the African Bantu word meaning
“healer” or “shaman.” Quimbanda also refers to "the one who communicates with the
beyond".

“The Quimbanda magico-religious tradition is the most powerful Congo magical practice
found in the New World and is also known and revered as perhaps being the most
dynamic, complicated and the most powerful forms of African magico-religious practices
found in Latin America”. Quimbanda was originally contained under the Afro-Brazilian
religious tradition of Macumba. In the Mid-20th Century, Macumba split into two religions:
Quimbanda and Umbanda. Umbanda represented the more popular with many Christian
elements of Macumba, while Quimbanda retained the distinctively African traits.
Quimbanda has continued to distinguish itself as a religion, while resisting many, but not
all of the Catholic and French Spiritism influences that have penetrated Umbanda and
other Afro-Brazilian religions.

The Quimbanda religion was first brought to the United States in the 1920’s by the De
Bourbon-Montenegro Family who have a long history and involvement with traditional
Afro-Brazilian religions since the year 1864. The Quimbanda religion has been increasing in
popularity in recent years with new converts and practitioners from all around the world
and from every socio-economic and ethnic walk of life. The reason for its rise in popularity
is that the religious philosophy and spiritual practice of the Quimbanda religion answers
questions to the meaning of life and it also quickly resolves through spirituality the
problems associated with our everyday life. The rituals of Quimbanda spiritualism gives
individuals a sense of control over their lives through spiritual self-empowerment to
believe in themselves and their spiritual birth destiny.

Religious practitioners of the Quimbanda religion become aware of the great power and
mysteries found within nature and their spiritual surroundings. Through a series of
progressive initiation rites associated with the Quimbanda religious faith, individuals
become responsible individuals and have a greater respect for the environment and the
Universal Mysteries of God.

In the year 2003, Carlos Antonio De Bourbon-Galdiano-Montenegro founded the first legal
church of Afro-Brazilian religious traditions in the United States, the American Candomble
Church. The American Candomble Church was founded to establish a religious community
and cultural center for the practice of the Afro-Brazilian religious faiths of Candomble De
Congo and Quimbanda.

The Quimbanda religious tradition and its powerful spiritual philosophy are no longer
confined to Brazil and religious practitioners can be found in just about every country of
the World.

THE QUIMBANDA RELIGIOUS PHILOSOPHY

The Quimbanda religious tradition is monotheistic. Monotheism is the belief in the


existence of one Supreme God. Religious initiates of the Quimbanda religion refer to him
as Nzambi or Nzambi Mpungu, "Almighty God of the Great Celestial Mysteries and the
Creator of the Heavens and the Earth". In the Quimbanda religious tradition, God is also
referred to as Nzambi Ntoto. In the religious context of our theology, the word Nzambi
Ntoto means "God Who touched and walked the Earth". The religious initiates of
Quimbanda also refer to God as Ndala Karitanga (God who created Himself) and Sa
Kalunga (Lord Endless, Infinite and Supreme God), after having created the world and
everything in it. Although many religious practitioners of Quimbanda would consider its
religious philosophy as monotheistic, there are many elements of pantheism which have
been incorporated within the confines of the belief of one true God.

Pantheism is the view that the Universe (Nature) and God are identical and that the
essence of God is found within the Cosmos as an all-encompassing unity and the
sacredness of Nature.

There has been in recent years much debate and confusion about the Quimbanda religion
as being polytheistic, but it is not. It is difficult to delineate from notions such as pantheism
and monotheism. The confusion comes from the lack of understanding between the
concepts of the term “worship” and the term “veneration.”

Worship is an act of religious devotion usually directed to one or more deities.

Veneration is a special act of honoring a saint: a dead person who has been identified as
singular in the traditions of the religion.

In the world of Quimbanda, we worship God and venerate the deities or spirits (Nkisi).
Catholics venerate the saints, (among them Mary), as human beings who had remarkable
qualities, lived their faith in God to the extreme and are believed to be capable of
interceding in the process of salvation for others; however, Catholics do not worship them
as gods.

There are other examples of monotheistic religions such as Christianity which embrace the
concepts of a plurality of the divine; for example, the Trinity, in which God is one being in
three eternal persons (the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit). Additionally, most Christian
churches teach Jesus to be two natures (divine and human), each possessing the full
attributes of that nature, without mixture or intermingling of those attributes.

Although there can be found in the African continent as well as many other places of the
world the belief in polytheistic religious beliefs and practices, the concept of monotheism
in the ancient African continent has existed for over 8500 years and its concept is not new.
The practice of monotheism in Africa predates the birth of Christianity.

Most of the fear and misunderstanding about the Quimbanda and Candomble religious
traditions come from individuals who have a lack of understanding about the religious
philosophy of African cultures and their sacred traditions.

Although we often define those spiritual entities venerated and associated with the
Quimbanda religious tradition as deities, they are not. The word deity for those practicing
traditional Quimbanda at the American Candomble Church simply means and refers to an
elevated spirit which can be petitioned to intercede on our behalf directly to God and
assist us in the process of the spiritual elevation and the evolution of our soul. This
concept is the same as the veneration of the Saints by Roman Catholics.

There is only one true God in the Quimbanda religious philosophy and we call him Nzambi,
the "Father and Creator of the Heavens and the Earth", the "Creator of all that is “Seen”
and “Unseen".

THE DEITIES AND THE SPIRITS OF THE QUIMBANDA PANTHEON

If you are going to have success in using the spiritual principles of this book as well as
many of my other books written about Quimbanda and Candomble De Congo religious
traditions, it is important for you to understand the religious concept and spiritual function
of the deities and the spirits of the powerful Quimbanda pantheon. By understanding the
spiritual concept of the Quimbanda magico-religious system you will be able see very fast
and spectacular results in your spiritual requests.

Although there are various forms of traditional Brazilian Quimbanda practiced throughout
Brazil and the world, and each with its own religious views about how the religion should
be practiced and how the Quimbanda deities and spirits should be organized, I will present
to you in this book the magico-religious system and religious philosophy as practiced by
the members of the American Candomble Church.

It has been estimated that there are over 65,000 Quimbanda religious temples in present
day Brazil. Quimbanda temples are called Terreiro (backyard) or Tenda (tent). In Brazil each
of the Quimbanda temples are autonomous religious organizations that focus around a
central spiritual leader.

The spiritual leader of the traditional Quimbanda temple is called “Tata Nganga” or “Pai
De Santo”. Both words meaning “Father of the Mysteries of the Spirits”.

The American Candomble Church is the first and only known legal religious organization in
the United States that exists in the world that has been formally organized and structured
with members from all around the world and from every walk of life.

This book will only explore the spiritual mysteries of The Seven Lesser Quimbanda
Kingdoms of the deity more commonly known as Exu.

The Quimbanda religious philosophy believes that the Universe and Earth are divided into
Seven Kingdoms or spiritual realms. Each of these spiritual realms has been appointed with
spiritual guardians by Nzambi. These deities were placed there by Nzambi to govern over
these realms where these spirits reside.

Each of the Seven Quimbanda kingdoms deals with various aspects of how mankind
relates to the spirits as found in nature.

The Quimbanda concept is very complex, but I will try to explain it in a simple
comprehendible manner for the purpose of this book the spiritual principles and sacred
theology of the Quimbanda religious tradition of the American Candomble Church.

The Quimbanda pantheon of deities and spirits is composed of seven (7) outer Quimbanda
Kingdoms and seven (7) inner Quimbanda Kingdoms. These sacred kingdoms are known
as, The Greater Quimbanda Kingdoms and The Lesser Kingdoms.

The realm of Heaven where Nzambi resides is not considered a category of one of the
Quimbanda Kingdoms because he is the “Creator” and it is only through his “Divine Grace”
that all of the outer and inner kingdoms exist.

In the Quimbanda religious system, Nzambi is considered masculine but can create duality
in his work and in his sacred creations.

The first three (3) Kingdoms of the Quimbanda deities are more commonly known as the
Quimbanda Trinity. The Quimbanda Trinity is composed of the three deities, Exu Maioral,
Exu Rei and Maria Padilla Reina. Together these three powerful spiritual forces govern the
great cosmos and the universal laws of the Earth for Nzambi. That is why the religious
practitioners of the Quimbanda religion venerate these three deities. The veneration of
the Quimbanda Trinity is a central spiritual belief of our faith. Religious practitioners of
Quimbanda believe that the deities of the Quimbanda pantheon were placed there by
Nzambi to watch over the Universe and over the actions of mankind.

Within the realm of the outer confines of the Kingdoms of the Quimbanda Trinity there are
found the mysteries of the inner The Seven Greater Quimbanda Kingdoms and The Seven
Lesser Quimbanda Kingdoms.

The Seven Lesser Quimbanda Kingdoms are governed by and ruled over by the Quimbanda
deities of King, Exu Rei and the Queen, Maria Padilla Reina. The deity Queen, Maria Padilla
Reina is also known as Pomba Gira by the religious practitioners of the Quimbanda
religious faith.

The deities King, Exu Rei and the Queen, Maria Padilla Reina are believed to have seven
different spiritual paths which are split among The Seven Lesser Quimbanda Kingdoms.

Each of The Seven Lesser Quimbanda Kingdoms is governed over by a distinct spiritual path
of the deities, King Exu Rei and the Queen, Maria Padilla Reina.

Within each of The Seven Lesser Quimbanda Kingdoms, there are 9 Chief Guardian Spirits
of Exu and Pombagiras. These Chief Guardian Spirits of Exu and Pombagiras are there to
assist the king and the queen of each one of The Seven Lesser Quimbanda Kingdoms. Each
one of these Chief Guardian Spirits of Exu and Pombagiras are associated with a specific
spiritual task and assignment to spiritually assist mankind.

These Exu and Pombagira spirits operate under the direct command of the King (EXU) and
Queen (REINA) that govern a particular Quimbanda Kingdom.

Although there are many different individual Exus and Pombagira spirits represented
within the confines of the The Seven Lesser Quimbanda Kingdoms, it is believed that there
exist 121 different distinct Exus and 121 different distinct Pombagiras also found within
the confines of The Seven Lesser Quimbanda Kingdoms. This belief is not shared by all
traditional Quimbanda temples, but this is the religious philosophy of the American
Candomble Church.

In the following explanation of The Seven Greater Quimbanda Kingdoms and The Seven
Lesser Quimbanda Kingdoms, the word deity refers to a highly evolved spiritual force that
Nzambi placed in charge of a particular Quimbanda Kingdom and the word spirit (Nkisi)
refers to a spiritual force that is submissive to the deity spirits. In both cases, both forces
dominate and have a powerful control and influence over the destiny of human beings.

Although the Quimbanda religious tradition believes that these spiritual entities have a
great impact and influence on the lives and destiny of all human beings, we also believe
that Nzambi at the moment of the “Divine Act of Creation” gave human beings the
ultimate divine gift which is “freedom of choice” and the freedom to decide what path we
should take in this life. This important concept is one of the Seven Principles of the
Quimbanda Universal Cosmic Laws.

In the Quimbanda religious tradition there is no “right” and there is no “wrong.” There are
only consequences that result because of our choices and from our decisions.

The Quimbanda spirits and deities were placed here by Nzambi to assist mankind with
whatever decisions that we may chose and to spiritually assist us in manifesting our
desires. That is why the Quimbanda religious tradition is centered on the veneration of the
spiritual deity known as Exu. Exu is the Divine Messenger of the Crossroads of life. When
we decide to make a decision, Exu is always there present reminding us that there will be
consequences to our actions because we have “freedom of choice”. The crossroads of life
represent the many consequences or paths that may come our way because of our choices
and because we have “freedom of choice”. The religious practitioners of the Quimbanda
religious tradition believe that the spiritual concept of “freedom of choice” is a “Divine
Privilege” bestowed upon mankind by Nzambi. “Freedom of choice” is not a right; it is a
gift from God.

Ruled over by the deity, EXU MAIORAL - Governs the Astral World, the Archangel
Metatron, the Seven Archangels (Archangel Michael, Archangel Raphael, Archangel
Gabriel, Archangel Uriel, Archangel Anael, Archangel Zerachiel, Archangel Raziel) & the
Astral Spirits of the Cosmos.

THE 72 ASTRAL SPIRITS OF EXU:

Exu Bael, Exu Agares, Exu Vassago, Exu Samigina, Exu Marbas, Exu Valefor, Exu Amon, Exu

THE SECOND GREATER QUIMBANDA KINGDOM

Ruled over by the deity, EXU REI - Governs the Earth & the Underworld with Maria Padilla
Reina. Exu manifests and encompasses male sexuality, fertility and strength. The deity of
the Crossroads and the Emperor of the Constellations.

THE THIRD GREATER QUIMBANDA KINGDOM

Ruled over by the deity, MARIA PADILLA REINA (POMBA GIRA) - Governs over human
emotions and desires with Exu Rei. Pomba Gira is viewed as the consort of Exu Rei. Pomba
Gira represents female beauty, sexuality, and desire. Pomba Gira is viewed as a beautiful
woman who is insatiable. She is venerated with great respect and care, as her worshippers
concede that her wrath can be firm and strong. Pomba Gira is often invoked by those who
seek aid in matters of the heart and love. The deity of the Crossroads,T-Roads and Empress
of the Seven Planets. Within the Third Greater Quimbanda Kingdom there are also many
paths of the female spirit known as Pomba Gira which can also manifest within the realms
of the Seven Lesser Quimbanda Kingdoms.

THE FOURTH GREATER QUIMBANDA KINGDOM

Ruled over by the AJE SPIRITS - The four (4) Elements (Air, Fire, Earth, Water) & the fifth
(5) Element of Void (Spirit). The Fourth Greater Quimbanda Kingdom is also ruled over by
Iyami Oxorongá, a powerful witch and the Aje Spirits. The Aje spirits are the daughters of
Iyami Oxorongá. The Aje Spirits are invisible spiritual entities that coexist with humans
here on Earth. It is believed that the Aje Spirits are powerful "witches" that control all
aspects of human destiny including such things as happiness, wealth, love, health and
personal relationships. It is also believed that if an individual does not make a spiritual
peace and truce with the powerful Aje Spirits that they can cause great harm and bring
about great tragedy to all human beings. The Aje Spirits were here before the first man
and first woman appeared on this Earth. Since the time that man and woman first
appeared here on Earth, the Aje Spirits have been in spiritual competition with humans
and historically have many of times tried to eliminate all life of mankind through such
negative acts as causing famines, disease and even natural catastrophes and disasters such
as floods, tornadoes and earthquakes.

Ruled over by the EGGUN SPIRITS - (Ancestors) & Spirit Guides (Preto Velhos)

The Eggun Spirits are our blood related ancestors. Practitioners of the Quimbanda
religious tradition venerate the ancestors. The veneration of these ancestor spirits is not a
religion in and of itself, but a facet of Quimbanda religious expression which recognizes an
element beyond human control. This form of veneration is at the core of all of the religious
practices in Afro-Brazilian spiritualism. The basis of ancestor verneration seems to stem
from two principle spiritual ideas: (1) that "those who have gone before" have a continual
and beneficent interest in the affairs of the living; and (2) more widespread, uneasiness,
fear of the dead, with practices to placate them. The Eggun Spirits are a part of the
Quimbanda pantheon of divinities. In the African Congo they are referred to as the
Egungun. The Egungun represents the "collective spirit" of the ancestors. Through
veneration of the ancestors, they assure a place for the dead among the living. It is their
responsibility to compel the living to uphold the ethical standards of past generations.

The spirits of the“Preto Velhos” (Old Black Ones) are spirits that represent the elders of
the first African slaves to work on the sugarcane and coffee plantations of Brazil. These
spirits are believed to assist the followers of the Quimbanda religious tradition with such
things as spiritual protection and healing. These powerful entities are also venerated as
powerful spirit guides for practitioners from various religious traditions of Afro-Brazilian
Spiritualism.

THE SIXTH GREATER QUIMBANDA KINGDOM

Ruled over by the CONGO SPIRITS (NKISI) - Govern the Physical World of Mankind &
Spiritual World of the Dead. It must also be noted here that the nkisi spirits of the Afro-
Caribbean Congo religious practices of Palo Mayombe, Palo Monte and Kimbisa would be
found within the sixth Quimbanda Kingdom. This information is important to know as
there are many initiates from these Afro-Caribbean religious traditions that are currently
being initiated into the mysteries of Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda. These spirits as found in
the Caribbean would be; Kobayende - King of the dead, god of diseases. Centella Ndoki -
Gatekeeper between life and death. Gurunfinda - God of forest and herbs. Nkuyu - Deity
of woods and roads, guidance and balance. Madre de Agua - Goddess of water and
fertility. Mama Sholan Guengue - Goddess of richness and pleasures. Tiempo Viejo- God
of divination and winds. Cabo Rondo - God of hunt and war. Siete Rayos - God of thunder
and fire. Tiembla Tierra - Spirit of wisdom and justice. Zarabanda - Deity of work and
strength. The American Candomble Church also houses the spiritual mysteries of the Afro-
Caribbean religious tradition of Palo Mayombe. Members of the American Candomble
Church are given the opportunity to also initiate into the Afro-Caribbean Congo mysteries
as part of their religious educational experience and are able to receive the Nkisi spirit
mysteries (Traditional Palo Mayombe Ngangas) of Palo Mayombe. Although the two
religious beliefs are distinctly different, they both share the same Congo regional and
historical roots. It should also be noted that each of the Nkisi spirits has been assigned
with a specific spiritual path of the spirit Exu (Lucero). The Exu spirits (Luceros) found
within both religious traditions are submissive to the Nkisi spirits which govern the Sixth
Greater Quimbanda Kingdom. It should also be noted that the religious practitioners of
Quimbanda only venerate the Nkisi spirits while many times the religious practitioners of
Afro-Caribbean derived Congo religious traditions such as Palo Mayombe, Palo Monte and
Kimbisa worship the Nkisi spirits as gods. This is just one example of the difference
between the two Congo derived religious beliefs.

line of Quimbanda Congo spirits;

Aluvaiá - Intermediary between humans and the other nkisis

Nkosi Mukumbe (Roxi Mukumbe) - Nkisi of war and roads.

Lembá Dilê (Lembarenganga, Jakatamba, Kassuté Lembá, Gangaiobanda) - Connected to


the creation of the world.

The mysteries of the Orixas from the Candomble De Congo (Candomble De Angola)
religious tradition are also found within the confines of the Sixth Quimbanda Kingdom. In
the Candomble De Congo religious tradition, the Orixas are also considered Nkisi spirits.
This is the primary difference between the Santeria religion and the Candomble De Congo
religious tradition.

AN INTRODUCTION TO BRAZILIAN QUIMBANDA RITUALS

The magical spiritual offerings and sacred rituals of the Brazilian Quimbanda religious
tradition are known for their fast results. Spiritual offerings and rituals are collectively
known in the Portuguese language as “trabalhos” or in the English language as “works”.
Spiritual offerings are also known in the African language as "Ebo". Because of the
historical richness of the Quimbanda religion, the religious practitioners of this magico-
religious system draw on the energy found in nature as well as from the powers of the
spirits and the deities of the Quimbanda pantheon. Rituals of Quimbanda are usually
dedicated to one or more spirits. The rituals usually consist of drawing a symbolic spirit
signature on the ground at a sacred location where the ritual offering will be left at. The
location of the ritual offering will be determined by what type of Ebo is being cast and for
what spirit is being invoked. It is believed that every location has a specific set of spiritual
entities that govern that place. A typical Quimbanda ebo would be done at the crossroads
when summoning the spirit Exu Tranca Ruas to close the roads of your enemies. The ebo
usually consists of candles, cigars, cigarettes, a food offering, a liquor offering and other
items that are sacred to the spirit that is being invoked to do the spiritual work. The
majority of the ebo's of Quimbanda are performed during the late night hours because it is
believed that the spirits manifest here on earth during those hours. After the ebo has been
brought to the desired magical location, the religious practitioner will recite a prayer to the
spirits making a spiritual petition to grant their requests. Rituals such as those for cleansing
are usually also done at specific locations depending on the desired intent of the
individual. Cleansing rituals usually involve the individual taking a series of herbal spiritual
baths known as "amaci" and often times a ritual performed at the shrine of a particular
spirit or deity at the Quimbanda Terreiro, Tenda or Munanzo. The word, Terreiro in the
Portuguese language refers to a traditional Afro-Brazilian temple and the word, Munanzo
is an African Congo word that refers to a house of worship.The priest or religious
practitioner who performs these ebo's and rituals is called “Quimbandeiro”. The word
Quimbandeiro is an African Congo word meaning “healer” or “shaman”.Because the
Quimbanda religion believes in spiritual communication, often times an individual seeking
spiritual advice will visit a Quimbandeiro to find out the answer of their questions. This is
usually performed using a divination system known as "Buzios". The buzios are an Afro-
Brazilian divination system which uses a set of 16 cowrie shells to consult with the
Quimbanda spirits. This divination method is also known as the “chamalongo”. An
individual may also seek advice from a spiritual medium that can incorporate a specific
spirit guide or Quimbanda spirit to receive spiritual remedies and spiritual solutions to
their problems. The spiritual process by which an individual medium becomes possessed
by the spirits is referred to as “incorporating the spirit”. The spirits and deities of the
Quimbanda religious pantheon are divided into seven categories. These seven categories

are known as the THE SEVEN GREATER QUIMBANDA KINGDOMS and THE SEVEN LESSER
QUIMBANDA KINGDOMS. Each one of the Seven Quimbanda Kingdoms is ruled over by a
specific set of deities and spirits. Each of the Seven Quimbanda Kingdoms is associated
with a specific location, such as the crossroads, cemetery, oceans, forest, mountains and
churches. Within the Seven Quimbanda, the first three (3) Kingdoms of Quimbanda deities
are more commonly known as the QUIMBANDA TRINITY. The Quimbanda Trinity is
composed of the three deities, Exu Maioral, Exu Rei and Maria Padilla Reina. Together
these three powerful spiritual forces govern the cosmos and the Earth for Nzambi. That is
why the religious practitioners of the Quimbanda religion venerate these three deities. The
veneration of the Quimbanda Trinity is a central spiritual belief of our faith. Religious
practitioners of Quimbanda believe that the deities of the Quimbanda pantheon were
placed there by Nzambi to watch over the Universe and over the actions of mankind.
Within the realm of the outer confines of the Kingdoms of the Quimbanda Trinity there are
found the mysteries of the inner Seven Lesser Quimbanda Kingdoms of the spirit Exu Rei
and the spirit Maria Padilla Reina. THE SEVEN LESSER QUIMBANDA KINGDOMS are
collectively ruled over by the deity Exu Rei and the female deity, Maria Padilla Reina. The
deity Maria Padilla Reina is also known as Pomba Gira by the religious practitioners of the
Quimbanda religious faith. The deity Exu Rei and the deity Maria Padilla Reina are believed
to have seven different spiritual paths which are split among THE SEVEN LESSER
QUIMBANDA KINGDOMS. Each of THE SEVEN LESSER QUIMBANDA KINGDOMS is
governed over by a distinct spiritual path of the deity Exu Rei and the deity Maria Padilla
Reina. Within each of the THE SEVEN LESSER QUIMBANDA KINGDOMS, there are 9
specific Chief Guardian Spirits of Exu and Pombagiras that are associated with a specific
spiritual task and assignment to spiritually assist mankind. These Exu and Pombagira spirits
operate under the direct command of the King (EXU) and Queen (REINA) that govern a
particular Quimbanda Kingdom. Although there are many different individual Exus and
Pombagira spirits represented within the confines of THE SEVEN LESSER QUIMBANDA
KINGDOMS, it is believed that there exist only 121 different distinct Exus and 121 different
distinct Pombagiras. This belief is not shared by all traditional Quimbanda temples and in
some temples there could be hundreds.

THE SEVEN QUIMBANDA PRINCIPLES OF SPIRITUAL WAR

The following rules of engagement of spiritual war are known as “THE SEVEN QUIMBANDA
PRINCIPLES OF SPIRITUAL WAR”. Before beginning any type of spiritual war it is important
that you read all of the following spiritual recommendations. If you follow all of the
following spiritual recommendations you will always triumph over your occult enemies.

The most important factor about engaging in a spiritual war is that it is time consuming
and many of times require lots of money to purchase magical supplies.

Spiritual war also requires that the individual medium or spiritualists that will be leading
the war against their enemies be a powerful medium with clear body, mind and soul.

NEVER ATTACK YOUR ENEMY FIRST:

In the art of spiritual war you should always be prepared for an attack from your occult
enemies, but you should never attack first. Always let your enemy’s attack you first and
then spiritually access the situation and then go from there. Because of the Quimbanda
spiritual law of “Divine Justice” we believe that if you allow your enemy to attack first you
will be able to attack them without receiving any Karmic retributions whatsoever because
the spirit Exu says, “that it is right and it is just.” If you allow your occult enemies to attack
first, the battle is already half way won in your favor.

ALWAYS CONSULT WITH THE SPIRITS FIRST THROUGH DIVINATION BEFORE PROCEEDING:

In the art of spiritual war you should always consult with the Quimbanda spirits first before
embarking on any type of spiritual attack against your enemies. This can be done using the
Quimbanda Chamalongo Divination 16 Shell method sacred to the Spirit Exu, or through
the traditional four (4) coconut shell Chamalongo Divination method, or through using a
Quimbanda Scrying Mirror to see exactly what your enemies are doing. Throughout the
entire time of the spiritual war, divinations must be constantly done in order to see what
your enemies are plotting and planning. Spiritual consultations are also necessary to find
out what kind of spiritual recommendations and spiritual offerings that are required by the
spirits before embarking on any type of spiritual battle against your enemies.

MAKE SURE THAT THE SPIRITS OF YOUR TEMPLE ARE APPEASED AND RITUALLY FED
BEFORE ANY TYPE OF SPIRITUAL WAR.

ATTACK YOUR ENEMY FIRST WHERE THEY ARE MOST VULNERABLE:

Always attack your occult enemies where they are most vulnerable. “REMEMBER IN THE
ART OF WAR EVERYTHING AND EVERYBODY IS FAIR GAME & A TARGET” - THAT’S JUST
HOW IT IS.

ATTACK YOUR ENEMY WITH BLINDING SPEED:

Speed is the essence of spiritual war. Take advantage of the enemy's unpreparedness.
Spiritually attack them and strike him where he has taken no precautions. To move with
such speed does not mean to do things hastily. In reality, speed requires much
preparation. Reducing the time it takes to make decisions, develop new spiritual weapons,
implement strategies and respond to the enemy's moves is crucial. To think through and
understand the opponent's reaction to one's possible moves also is essential.

ALWAYS USE STRATEGIC AND STRUCTURED PLANNING:

Plan your spiritual attack strategically using deception and structured planning. Don’t stop
attacking your enemy until you render them spiritually disabled. One must be able to
“shape” the enemy. Therefore those skilled in the art of spiritual war bring the enemy to
the field of battle and are not brought there by him. To achieve everything discussed so far
takes a special kind of leader; one who can see the correct course of action and take it
immediately, who can relate to the members of your temple.

DON’T STOP UNTIL YOU RENDER YOUR ENEMY SPIRITUALLY DISABLED:

Shaping the enemy means changing the rules of the contest and making one's opponent
conform to one's desires and actions. It means taking control of the situation away from
the enemy and putting it into one's own hands. One way of shaping the enemy is by the
skillful use of alliances. By building a strong web of alliances, the moves of the opponent
can be limited. Also, by eliminating its alliances, one can weaken the enemy. Look into the
matter of his alliances and cause them to be severed and dissolved. If an enemy has
alliances, the problem is grave and the enemy's position strong; if he has no alliances the
problem is minor and the enemy's position weak.

PRACTICE THE SPIRITUAL LAW OF DIRECT & INDIRECT:

By keeping plans and strategy closely held and using tactics to deceive the enemy about
one's true intentions, one can continue to shape them by employing direct and indirect
approaches. He who knows the art of the direct and the indirect approach will be
victorious. A direct attack is one that occurs in an expected place at an expected time. An
indirect assault is one that comes as a surprise, both in location and timing. By combining
direct attacks on the enemy to fix their leaders' attention and deceive them, one can then
use indirect attacks to win complete victory. By utilizing the indirect and direct approaches
and skillfully crafting alliances the opponent can be put on the defensive and made more
vulnerable to future attacks.

HOW TO DETERMINE IF YOU HAVE BEEN SPIRITUALLY ATTACKED

Unless you are as experienced and seasoned as I am in the “Art of Spiritual War,” psychic
or spiritual attacks aren't always easy to spot. For some people, the attacks are so subtle,
or have been going on for so long, that the person isn't aware of the attack.

The more obvious and overt spiritual attacks will be left at your front door in the form of a
bundled package, sprinkled dirt, scattered oils on your front porch & door knob, a dead
chicken or animal.

Here is a list of some more symptoms of a spiritual attack:

- Your candles on your spiritual altar are burning black.


- The candles on your spiritual altar explode or the glass cracks.
- You start to dream about your enemies.
- You start to have conflict with people around you for no apparent reason.
- Individuals around you start to have conflict with you for no apparent reason.
- You start to have problems at your job for no apparent reason.
- You lose your job for no apparent reason.
- People don’t want to be around you.
- You start to have constant legal problems or problems with the police.
- You start to have nightmares.
- You start to feel sick.
- The doctors can’t find out what is wrong with you.
- You start to feel depressed.
- You start to have low self- esteem about yourself.
- You are constantly involved in accidents of any kind.
- You feel suicidal.
- You lose your job for no apparent reason.
- People start to become hostile towards you.
- You start to have irrational fears.
- You start to have panic attacks.
- You start to have phobias.
- You start to have addictive behavior.
- You start to have visible bruises on your body.
- Your mate leaves you.
- You leave start to fight with or just leave your mate for no apparent reason.
- You start to have abnormal medical problems.
- You start to have seizures, pain, blackouts, sudden severe headaches, numbness in
arms or legs, temporary paralysis, stomach aches and asthma attacks.

- You start to hear buzzing in your ears.
- You start to feel extremely hot or cold.
- You hear voices of people that you can’t see or that are not there.
- You feel an invisible unseen presence around you.
- You feel an invisible unseen presence get on top of you at night and hold’s your
mouth shut.
- You see shadows of figures and unseen people in and around your house.
- Things start getting moved and misplaced in your house.
- Your animals, birds or fish start to die mysteriously.
- Animals start to fear you or get aggressive with you for no apparent reason.

THERE ARE MANY MORE SYMPTOMS OF A SPIRITUAL ATTACK, BUT THESE ARE THE MOST
COMMON.

It would be my advice that if you are not experienced in the realm of black magic and the
“art of spiritual warfare” that you seek out the spiritual advice of a qualified Quimbandeiro
Priest.

HOW TO PROTECT THE FOUR (4) CORNERS OF THE OUTSIDE OF YOUR HOUSE

It is a common mistake among individuals to leave their homes vulnerable to spiritual


attacks. By doing the following spiritual ritual you will be able to protect any type of
negative energy from crossing over and onto your property. The following is a simple
method that is used by initiates of the Quimbanda religion to protect their properties
against witchcraft attacks. Although it requires that certain items be buried outside at each
one of the four (4) corners it can however be done by burying the items in a large flower
pot that can be covered over by the following distinct dirt and then a plant is planted in
the center of the flower pot. The type of magical plant that should be planted is called in
Portuguese, “Espada De São Jorge”. Or in English, the “Sword of Saint George” plant. This
very hardy indoor and outdoor plant is very popular and can be found at most well stocked
garden centers or Botanicas. The scientific name is called, Sansevieria trifasciata is a
species of Sansevieria, native to tropical West Africa from Nigeria east to the Democratic
Republic of the Congo. It is an evergreen herbaceous perennial plant forming dense
stands, spreading by way of its creeping rhizome, which is sometimes above ground,
sometimes underground. Its stiff leaves grow vertically from a basal rosette. Mature leaves
are dark green with light gray-green cross-banding and usually range between 70–90 cm in
length and 5–6 cm in width. It is commonly called the snake plant because of the shape of
its leaves, or mother-in-law's tongue because of their sharpness. In Japan it is also called
“Tiger's Tail.” In Brazil it is commonly known as Espada De São Jorge (Sword of Saint
George). Due to its bladelike shape, it is commonly associated with Ogun, the Orixa of war
(usually associated with Saint George), and is used in rituals to remove the evil eye. In the
Quimbanda religion this spirit is known by the name of Mukumbe. A yellow-tipped variant
is known as “Espada De Santa Barbara” (Sword of Saint Barbara), and is associated with
Iansan/Oya, the female Orixa of storms (usually associated with the sword-bearing image
of Saint Barbara). In Africa as well as in Latin America, the plant is used as a protective
charm against evil or bewitchment. Although the following formula is traditionally used
outside your home at the four corners, it can also be done inside of a flower pot and
placed at either side of your front and back doors to your house and even at the four
corners of the inside of your house.

HOW TO PREPARE THE PROTECTION RITUAL

- Paint the Quimbanda Spirit Signature of MUKOMBE at the bottom of the flower
pot using the red paint and allow it to dry.

- After the paint has dried, do the following.

- In a large mixing bowl add all of the following ingredients: Dirt from 7 crossroads,
Dirt from 7 churches, Dirt from a hospital, Dirt from the railroad tracks, Dirt from a
jail, Dirt from a courthouse, Dirt from a police station, Dirt from a bank, Dirt from a
mountain and the Pemba powder (cascarilla/eggshell powder). Mix well.

- Next add all of the following dried herbs in powdered form to the above mixed
dirts: Rue, Basil, Rosemary, Crushed Dragon’s Blood Powder and Bay Leaf. Mix well.

- Next add a generous amount of fresh beef blood and a small amount of palm oil to
the above mixture. Mix well.

- Next add a small amount of the above mixture to the bottom of the flower pot.

- Next place all of the following items into the flower pot: A small metal sword or
new knife, One small quartz crystal, One stone from a railroad crossing, Coins from
7 different countries from around the world, Twenty-one peonia seeds, The metal
tools (ferramentas) of the Orixa Oggun, Three used railroad spikes, Crushed glass,
mouse trap, Twenty-one rusty nails and One rattlesnake rattle. The iron metal tools
(ferramentas) of the Orixa Oggun and the railroad spikes should be placed in good
positions into the flower pot.

- Next place some more of the moist dirt mixture into the flower pot directly on top
of all of the above items.

- Next place the Sword of St. George Plant into the center of the flower pot and then
cover the roots and the base of the plant all the way to the top of the flower pot to
firmly anchor the plant into the flower pot.

- Next place the plant(s) in the desired location and water them generously using
Holy Water from a Catholic Church.

- Next light a red candle next to each of the plants and say the following prayer to
Saint George in front of each of the potted plants.

SPIRITUAL INSTRUCTIONS

- Pray the following prayer for nine consecutive Fridays at 12 midnight in front of a
red candle.

- Give your plants Holy Water from a Catholic Church for nine consecutive Fridays at
12 midnight.

- Give and feed your plants beefs blood once a year.

- Place an image picture or statue of Saint George in your home with a red candle

HOW TO CLEANSE YOUR HOUSE AFTER A SPIRITUAL ATTACK

This is a two (2) part ritual. The first part of the ritual requires that you make and prepare a
very strong spiritual floor wash to spray or mop the inside of your house. The same floor
wash will also be used to dress your yard or to sprinkle around the outside four corners of
your property. The second part of this ritual requires you to make and prepare powerful

HOW TO PREPARE THE QUIMBANDA 9 DAY CANDLE CLEANSING SPELL

- One clear drinking glass


- Holy Water
- One green lime
- Kosher rock salt
- Nine (9) Red small (4 - 6 inch) stick candles
- One white ceramic plate

PREPARATION

- Cut a lime in the form of a cross and place it into a clear drinking glass. Make sure to not
completely pull the lime apart.

- Add the Holy Water to the glass cup

- Mix the Kosher Rock Salt into the Holy water into the glass cup.

- Add the lime to the liquid mixture into the glass cup.

- Place a small white ceramic plate over the top of the glass cup.

- Make sure that the liquid of the glass cup comes all the way to the top rim of the cup.

- Flip the glass and the plate over. Do not allow the water to come out.

THE HOUSE CLEANSING RITUAL

The Quimbanda House Cleansing Ritual creates a completely cleansed and spiritually
positive atmosphere by purifying the home from any negative energy.

STEP ONE

Place the glass with the lime on a flat table surface into the center of the spirit signature of
the Quimbanda Cross. After you have placed the filled glass with the liquids into the center
of the Quimbanda Cross then light the first red candle and say - SARAVA.

STEP TWO

Light the Quimbanda Ritual Incense and allow the smoke to permeate the entire house.
Take the incense and pass it around the entire house beginning at the area furthest from

After reciting the above prayer to the spirit Exu, start to walk through the entire front yard
while ringing the bell while speaking your intentions aloud.

After walking thoroughly the entire yard with the bell, then start to pour generous
amounts of the Quimbanda Ritual Floor Wash at the four corners of your front yard and
also at the outside four corners of your house.

STEP SEVEN

Allow the incense to completely finish burning and the fumes to diminish completely
before reentering into your house.

Once inside the house then once again start to ring the brass bell and walk around the
entire house and every room.

When you have completed this step then take a Quimbanda Spiritual Cleansing Bath. The
Quimbanda Spiritual Cleansing Bath should be taken for nine (9) consecutive nights before
going to bed.

STEP EIGHT

Light one new red candle on top of the glass containing the liquid and the the lime for nine
(9) consecutive nights at 12 midnight.

Each night that you place a new red candle and light it, recite the RITUAL PRAYER TO EXU
TO CLEANSE YOUR HOUSE AFTER A SPIRITUAL ATTACK and walk around the house while
ringing the bell.

THIS VERY POWERFUL BRAZILIAN QUIMBANDA CLEANSING RITUAL WILL REMOVE AND

HOW TO INTERPRET THE BURNING OF CANDLES IN SPIRITUAL WAR

The interpretation or reading candles burning on your spiritual altar is an important factor
when trying to determine the vibration of energy in your home. By reading the candles as
they burn, you will be able to determine if the energy in your home is spiritually clean or if
it may have negativity coming to it from a negative source. When you are in a spiritual war,
it is important to pay close attention to how your candles are burning so you will be able
to determine how to magically approach the situation. The following is a list of some of the
most common candle burning interpretations on how to accurately read your candles.
There are many more, but these are the most common.

WHAT IF THE CANDLE EXPLOADS WHILE IT IS BURING?

This usually refers to candles that are housed in glass jars or containers, but I have also
seen pillar candles explode. There are two different ways to interpret this. If it is a
protection or reversing candle it means that the candle protected something from
attacking you and/or a lot of negative energy has been directed towards you. If the candle
is being used to dominate or cause conflict to someone, it means that the person is being
protected spiritually. If this is the case, you are to light another candle of the same type to
break their protection to allow the spell to work correctly.

If the candle is a prosperity or protection candle, this means that other type of spiritual

spirits of the other individual will then have time to prepare and reverse it back on to you.

Placing a plate over the flame thus allowing the flame to extinguish itself naturally or use a

This means that your guardian spirits do not want you to turn the candle off because they
are detecting something good or bad for you. If the candle is turned off they cannot assist

This means that the spell is working fast and another candle must be lit immediately.
Money is coming in regards to prosperity spells, a lot of negativity in regards to reversing
spells and in spells of harm, that the individual’s spirit is fighting it off but it will soon be
successful.

THE PREPARATION OF THE CEREMONIAL ALTAR OF THE QUIMBANDA TRINITY

Ritually preparing the altar of the Quimbanda Trinity is an important aspect of performing
this very powerful ritual. I have provided in the following pages various examples of how
to correctly prepare an altar for the spirits of the Quimbanda Trinity. All Quimbanda altars
should be set up facing the direction of the East. Altars can be set up in outside garden
patios, balconies or in a designated ritual temple area in your home. Altars can also be
temporaily set up for the purpose of performing this sacred ritual in remote locations such
as the forest, fields, mountain, near the rivers or beaches.

In the Quimbanda magico-religious tradition, having an altar set up in your temple or


home is mandatory. An altar is any structure upon which offerings such as sacrifices and
votive offerings are made for religious purposes, or some other sacred place where
ceremonies take place. Altars are usually found at shrines, and they can be located in
temples, churches and other places of worship.

If you will be using the spells and sacred rituals from this book and from any other of my
books written about the Quimbanda religious tradition you will need to first prepare an
altar to their mysteries. I have included four methods of instructions for preparing simple
altars for the deities of the Quimbanda Trinity.

The first three instructions for preparing the Quimbanda altar will be for individuals who
have not been initiated into the Quimbanda Mysteries.

The fourth instruction for preparing the Quimbanda altar will be for those individuals who
have gone through the first degree of initiation process of receiving the Quimbanda
Baptism more commonly known as the MASSANGUÀ.

When an individual becomes baptized into the Mysteries of Quimbanda, they will receive a
set of initiation beads that represent the Quimbanda Trinity. The initiated individual will
also receive the actual spiritual mysteries of the Quimbanda Trinity. These three mysteries
are received in the form of the actually Quimbanda spirit ngangas. There are three
Quimbanda spirit ngangas that the new initiate will receive during the Quimbanda
baptismal process. Each of the three ngangas represents each of the three Quimbanda
dieties. (EXU MAIORAL, EXU REI & MARIA PADILLA REINA).

The Quimbanda spirit nganga is usually constructed inside of a cast iron caldron or even
inside of a clay pot. The nganga is a miniature world and a doorway to the supernatural.
The Quimbanda spirit nganga is a place where the deities and spirits can symbolically
reside inside the container waiting until summoned by the religious practitioner.
Quimbanda spirit ngangas can’t be spiritually prepared by a non-initiate. Quimbanda spirit

ngangas can only be prepared by a Quimbandeiro priest who is knowledgeable about the
sacred mysteries of the Quimbanda spirits. A Quimbanda spirit nganga can only be
received by an individual who has been initiated or baptized into the religious mysteries of
the Quimbanda Trinity.

The spirit mysteries of the Quimbanda Trinity can be received by both men and women.

The Quimbanda religious altar made and prepared for the deities of the Quimbanda Trinity
must always be above the ground. The standard height for the Quimbanda Trinity altar is
usually the same height as a regular table, but the altar can also be taller than this height.

Many individuals build their own altars using wood and other materials. The following is a
plan for instructions on how to build a traditional altar to the Quimbanda Trinity. The
following altar plans follow the regulation standards for all altars made and prepared at
the American Candomble Church. The measurements and dimensions of the altar follow a
pattern of sacred geometry.

Sacred geometry is the geometry used in the planning and construction of religious
structures such as churches, temples, mosques, religious monuments, altars, tabernacles;
as well as for sacred spaces such as sacred groves and the creation of religious art. In
sacred geometry, symbolic and sacred meanings are ascribed to certain geometric shapes
and certain geometric proportions.

Because the sacred numbers ascribed to the Quimbanda Trinity is 777, everything in our
temple is composed of numbers of seven (7).

The sacred number of Exu Maioral is 7, the sacred number of Exu Rei is 7 and the sacred
number of Maria Padilla Reina is 7. Together the sacred numbers of these three deities
that make up the Holy Quimbanda Trinity is 777.

The number 777 is believed to also represent Nzambi as he is the Center of the Universe
just as the Quimbanda Trinity are believed to represent the Center of our Quimbanda
faith.

Once the Quimbanda Trinity altar has been built, it can be painted with red, black and
white paint. These three colors represent the colors of the Quimbanda Trinity.

The color red represents the Quimbanda deity, Exu Maioral.

The color black represents the Quimbanda deity, Exu Rei.

The color white represents the Quimbanda deity, Maria Padilla Reina.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONSTRUCTING THE QUIMBANDA TRINITY ALTAR

MATERIALS NEEDED:

Wood, Nails, Red paint, Black paint, White paint

PREPARING THE WOOD QUIMBANDA ALTAR:

Prepare an altar table using the wood.

The dimensions of the Quimbanda altar top will be 49 inches length x 21 inches width.

The four legs of the Quimbanda altar will 49 inches in height.

PAINTING THE WOOD QUIMBANDA ALTAR:

The legs of the Quimbanda altar should be painted in solid red paint.

The altar top should be divided into three even sections and each section painted in the
following colors and in the following order: Red, Black and White. The section of the left
side of the altar is painted in solid red paint, the middle section of the altar is painted in
solid black paint and the right section of the right side of the altar is painted in white paint.

After the paint on the altar top has completely dried then paint the sacred spirit symbols
(Pontos Riscados / Sigils) of the Quimbanda deities on each of the different colored
sections that represent each one of the deities.

Many individuals also use red, black and white tiles to cover and to decorate the top of
their Quimbanda altars instead of painting them because tile will not burn just in case if
your candles that you will be burning on top the altar happen to fall over. The tile covered
area will not burn.

The spirit signatures should be painted in the following colors in each of the sections on
the altar top.

RED SECTION: Paint spirit signature using black paint.

BLACK SECTION: Paint spirit signature using red paint.

WHITE SECTION: Paint spirit signature using black paint.

This method of setting up a spiritual Quimbanda altar uses only the spiritual spirit
signatures (Pontos Riscados / Sigils) of the deities of the Quimbanda Trinity.

INSTRUCTIONS

The altar can be left uncovered or covered in an altar cloth.

Cover the altar with an altar cloth made in the following colors: Red, Black and White.

The altar cloth can be made in a combination of these three colors or you can make your
own by sewing cloth material of the three separate colors together. If you will be doing
this method, remember to always follow the sequence pattern of deity colors in the
following order: Red cloth on the left side, Black cloth in the middle and White cloth on the
right side.

Draw and then paint each one of the three spiritual spirit signatures of the Quimbanda
Trinity on a wood, cardboard or framed canvas. The dimensions of the wood, cardboard or
framed canvas must be 21 inches x 21 inches in length and width.

Following the color patterns as

RED BACKGROUND COLORED CANVAS: Paint spirit signature using black paint.

BLACK BACKGROUND COLORED CANVAS: Paint spirit signature using red paint.

After you have finished painting the spirit signature images on the canvas and they have
dried then place them up on the wall directly behind the Quimbanda Trinity altar.

When you have completed your altar, place the following colored candles and metal
drinking chalices on each of the spirit signatures of the Quimbanda Trinity deities.

EXU MAIORAL: A red candle and a gold colored metal drinking chalice.

EXU REI: A black candle and a silver colored metal drinking chalice.

MARIA PADILLA REINA: A white candle and a silver colored metal drinking chalice.

The chalices of Exu Maioral and Exu Rei should always have fresh “Cachaça” liquor in it.
The chalice of Maria Padilla Reina should always have fresh red wine or champagne in it.
Cachaça is a Brazilian liquor made from fermented sugarcane.

This method of setting up a spiritual Quimbanda altar uses traditional statues of the deities
of the Quimbanda Trinity.

INSTRUCTIONS

The altar can be left uncovered or covered in an altar cloth.

Place each one of the three statues of the deities in their sacred area on the altar. The
statues should be placed directly on top of their corresponding spirit signatures.

When you have completed your altar, place the following colored candles and metal
drinking chalices directly in front of each of the spirit deity statues of the Quimbanda.

EXU MAIORAL: A red candle and a gold colored metal drinking chalice.

EXU REI: A black candle and a silver colored metal drinking chalice.

MARIA PADILLA REINA: A white candle and a silver colored metal drinking chalice.

Place the traditional iron metal spirit symbols (Ferramentas) that represent the spirit
signatures of the Quimbanda Trinity deities directly on top of their corresponding spirit
signatures.

When you have completed your altar, place the following colored candles and metal
drinking chalices directly in front of each of the iron metal spirit symbols (Ferramentas) of
the Quimbanda Trinity deities.

EXU REI: A black candle and a silver colored metal drinking chalice.

The following method of setting up a traditional Orthodox Quimbanda altar to the


Quimbanda Trinity can only be done by initiates of the Quimbanda religion who have
received the actual spirit mysteries (ngangas / nkisi) of the Quimbanda Trinity.

INSTRUCTIONS

The altar can be left uncovered or covered in an altar cloth.

Cover the altar with an altar cloth made in the following colors: Red, Black and White.

The altar cloth can be made in a combination of these three colors or you can make your
own by sewing cloth material of the three separate colors together. If you will be doing

metal ferramentas directly in front of the spirit mysteries.

When you have completed your altar, place the following colored candles and metal
drinking chalices on each of the spirit signatures of the Quimbanda Trinity deities.

The following Brazilian Quimbanda Spiritual Bath should be taken before you begin any
ritual of spiritual war against your enemies. This particular spiritual bath will cleanse your
aura and reinforce it with supernatural powers of protection. By taking this spiritual bath
you will also be ensured that your powers will be maximized and allow you to focus on
your rituals of spiritual battle. This bath should be taken before beginning each and every

(Eau De Portugal Cologne) to it. Mix the liquid bath well. Take a spiritual bath using the
liquid and wash your entire body, including your head. Use the Brazilian Quimbanda Ritual
Black Soap while taking your spiritual bath.

HOW TO PREPARE A SPIRITUAL CLEANSING BATH (BANHO DE DESCARGA)

The following Brazilian Quimbanda Spiritual Cleansing Bath should be taken when you feel
that you have been spiritually attacked by your enemies. It should also be taken after
every magical ritual that you wage spiritual war against your enemies so that the negative
vibration that you may attract to your aura will be cleansed and you will be spiritually
clean and free from harm and negative vibration.

HOW TO DRESS A CANDLE FOR SPIRITUAL BATTLE

The magical power of the Quimbanda Spirits is more than just saying a few ritual words
over a lit candle. The real magic is in your ability to raise the energy before and during any
ritual. Experienced Quimbandeiros know that magical spells are never something to rush
through. Every step of the magical ritual, from the moment you begin planning the spell,
lends and gives energy to it. One important step in candle magic is dressing a candle,
which helps to charge and consecrate the candle to match your intent. The following
Quimbanda ritual candle formulas can be used when preparing for or during a spiritual
battle.

RITUAL NOTES FOR A SUCCESSFUL CANDLE RITUAL:

When preparing and dressing a candle to banish away negative vibrations or to reverse
and return a spell back to your enemies always dress the candle using your hands by
starting to rub the prepared candle dressing oil from the middle of the candle, rub oil from
middle to top for to "Banish" energy away from you.

If you are preparing and dressing a candle to bring a good vibration back to your house
after a spiritual attack then always the dress the candle using your hands by starting to rub
the prepared candle dressing oil from middle to bottom to "Attract" energy to you.

Remember both glass encased candles, pull out candles, image candles, pillar candles and
taper candles are all ritually dressed and prepared in the same magical manner. The type
of candle will depend on the individual’s preference. I always prefer to use the old
standard pillar or taper candles in my magical rituals. The choice is up to you.

The only difference between using a glass encased candle for magical rituals as opposed to
the other candles is that when you carve your intentions on the pull out candles, image
candles, pillar candles and taper candles it is much easier. When using glass encased
candles you can carve your intentions on the open flat wax top of candle and also use a
permanent colored ink marker to write your intentions around the outside of the glass of
the candle.

THE GREAT QUIMBANDA RITUAL OF EXU TO DEFEAT YOUR ENEMIES

The following is a seven day ritual that is guaranteed to defeat any and all of your occult
enemies. This includes both known and unknown enemies. The ritual ceremony must be

At the conclusion of the last of the seven day rituals take a spiritual offering to the
crossroads for the Spirit Exu. The spiritual offering will include a bowl of roasted corn
covered in palm oil (dende) and honey, an open bottle of Cachaça (Sugar Cane Liquor), 21
pennies, one lighted red candle, one lighted black candle, one lighted white candle and
three lighted cigars.

DO THE FOLLOWING RITUAL IF YOU HAVE THE ACTUAL QUIMBANDA NGANGA SPIRIT
MYSTERIES:

At the conclusion of the last of the seven day rituals do a traditional ritual blood offering to
the Quimbanda spirits and then send them out with “Fula”. After you have done this then
wrap up the bodies of the three birds in black and red cloth along with roasted corn
covered in palm oil (dende), honey and 21 pennies and leave it at a crossroads on top of a
spirit signature (pontos riscados) of the spirit Exu Rei. Along with the bundle leave an open
bottle of Cachaça, one lighted red candle, one lighted black candle, one lighted white
candle and three lighted cigars.

RITUAL CEREMONY TO INVOKE THE POWERS OF THE SPIRIT EXU MEIA NOITE

The powerful Quimbanda Spirit, Exu Meia Noite is the patron spirit of black magicians.
This powerful spirit knows the secrets and rituals of how to cast powerful black magic
spells. Exu Meia Noite is also a powerful healer. He can be petitioned in both matters of
good and evil. This Quimbanda entity is capable of destroying a person in less than 24
hours, if summoned by someone who is experienced with doing this type of black magic
spiritual work. Exu Meia Noite should only be summoned and petitioned in “cases of

A RITUAL TO SUMMON THE SPIRIT EXU MEIA NOITE FOR ANY REQUEST

If you have been initiated into the Quimbanda religion and have the actual mysteries of
Exu Meia Noite then the ritual should be done directly in front of the nganga containing
his spiritual mysteries. If you are not initiated into the Quimbanda mysteries then you can
perform this ritual in front of your spiritual altar to the Quimbanda Trinity.

Burn Quimbanda Ritual Incense in the magical ritual area where you will be doing the
ceremony. Draw the Quimbanda spirit signature that represents the Spirit, Exu Meia Noite
on the floor using pemba (ritual chalk) directly in front of the altar of the Quimbanda
Trinity deities. White Pemba can be used for any type of spell or ritual. Red Pemba is used
in domination or control spells and rituals. Black Pemba is used in black magic spells and
rituals of harm. Place a black candle on top of the spirit signature that represents Exu Meia
Noite. Place a spiritual offering on a white plate next to the spirit signature. The spiritual
offering will consists of nine balls of cooked corn meal flour, red peppers, palm oil and
honey. Begin the Quimbanda ritual by lighting the black candle first, and then using your
hand, tap the ground in front of the altar three times.

Ferramentas are made of metal. The metal of choice is usually iron. The Ferramentas are
metal tools of the Quimbanda spirits that represent their sacred spirit signature symbols.
Each of the Quimbanda spirits has one that is unique and sacred to each one of them.
Ferramentas are usually placed into the spirit ngangas or placed on Quimbanda altars to
represent the spirits. Ferramentas can also be consecrated and empowered by a

can be kept by both initiated and non-initiated members of the Quimbanda religion.

THE QUIMBANDA SPIRIT SIGNATURES (PONTOS RISCADOS)

In the Quimbanda magico-religious tradition, spirit signature sigils (seals) are symbols
connected to a set of ideas by which spirits or deities may be summoned to awareness and
controlled. The spirit signature sigils connect the spirits to our earthly realm. In the
Portuguese language they are called “Pontos Riscados”. The spirit signature sigils when
used in the appropriate magical manner open up the doors to world of the supernatural.
They are used in divinatory practices. The spirit signature sigil itself when drawn out on the
ground or drawn on an object will call forth the spirit. The spirit signature sigil also serves
as a physical focus through which the Quimbanda Priest achieves the desired state of
mind. Spirit signature sigils represent the secret names of spirits and deities who manifest
themselves differently to each magic practitioner. Once the Quimbanda Priest has
summoned the spirit or deity he may control it, if necessary, by subjecting its sigil to fire or
the use of a magical sword or machete. Spirit signature sigils can also serve as amulets,
talismans, or meditation tools. Quimbanda spirit signature sigils may be of various signs,
such as crosses, tridents, stars associated with different deities. Quimbanda Priests often
times inscribe the spirit signature sigil on ceremonial ritual objects, candles or objects of
silver, brass, gold, or glass. Such spirit signatures sigils are considered to be magically
powerful. Quimbanda Priests also draw these very sacred and powerful spirit signature
sigils directly on the ground in front of the spirit ngangas of the Quimbanda Spirits to
invoke and to summon the deities to appear and to send them to do their bidding. The

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

The author, Carlos Antonio De Bourbon-Galdiano-Montenegro is a member of the famous


Montenegro Family originally from Eastern Europe who has been practitioners of Brazilian
Quimbanda and Candomble De Congo for 148 years. In 1806, the Montenegro Family
immigrated to Brazil fleeing the French invasion of Napoleon Bonaparte of the Iberian
Peninsula along with the Portuguese Royal Family. While living in Brazil, the Montenegro Family
became fascinated with the magical religious traditions of the Africans who were working on
the Portuguese sugar cane and coffee plantations. In the year 1864, a black woman who
worked on the Montenegro Family coffee plantation in the lush tropical mountains just outside
of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil by the name of Paola Fernandes initiated Matilda Andrade De Bourbon-
Montenegro into the Mysteries of the Congo Religion. In the 1920’s the Montenegro Family
immigrated to the United States of America and brought with them the sacred mysteries of the
Afro-Brazilian religious tradition of Quimbanda. In the 1920’s through the 1980’s, the "Casa De
Montenegro" was governed by the Montenegro Family Matriarch, Maria Miranda De Bourbon-
Montenegro until her death at the age of 98. In 1986, Carlos Antonio De Bourbon-Galdiano-
Montenegro inherited the hereditary position and became the Patriarch of the Casa
Montenegro Spiritual Temple. In 2003, the Casa Montenegro Spiritual Temple was organized
into the American Candomble Church to preserve the unique and historical Vititi Congo
Bizango religious tradition and the Brazilian Orixa Mysteries that have been uniquely practiced
by the Montenegro Family of Brazil and have survived successfully for more than 148 years.

The author, Carlos Antonio De Bourbon-Galdiano-Montenegro has been writing books for more

THE GRAND RITUAL OF EXU MEIA NOITE TO INVOKE THE POWERS OF THE DEAD

The following Quimbanda ceremonial ritual is how to invoke the powers of the
dead through the intercession of the Spirit, Exu Meia Noite. The Grand Ritual of
Exu Meia Noite To Invoke The Powers Of The Dead, is used to summon the
intranquil spirits to do your bidding for any spiritual request.

The ritual must be performed at 12 Midnight on a Full Moon when the spiritual
energies are at their most powerful and the spiritual portal is open from the Earth
directly into the World of the Spirits.

This magical spiritual portal is only open between 12 Midnight until 3 A.M.

This magical ritual can be done directly in front of the altar of the Quimbanda
Trinity or for the best results in the cemetery in front of a grave stone in the form
or shape of a cross.

If you will be doing this ritual at the cemetery, then use the grave stone in the
form or shape of a cross as your focus altar point.

All grave stones in the form or shape of a cross are the primary magical location in
the cemetery to manifest the powerful Quimbanda spirits.

STEP ONE

The Grand Ritual of Exu Meia Noite To Invoke The Powers Of The Dead, uses a
ritually prepared black pillar altar candle which must be prepared with the
following ingredients in order to summon and invoke the Spirit, Exu Meia Noite
and the intranquil spirits.

The ritual black candle must be blessed and dressed and then consecrated before
ritual use.

After the black altar pillar candle has been dressed and consecrated, set it into a
candle holder and then place it into and onto the spirit signature of Exu Meia
Noite.

The black altar pillar candle should be ritually consecrated and dressed by
preparing a sacred oil mixture consisting of the following magical items;

Blessed Olive Oil from a Catholic Church

Human Bone Powder

Magnetic Sand

Crushed Quartz Crystals

AFTER THE CANDLE HAS BEEN CONSECRATED THEN PLACE IT INTO RITUAL
POSITION BEFORE YOU BEGIN THE GRAND RITUAL OF EXU MEIA NOITE TO
INVOKE THE POWERS OF THE DEAD.

STEP TWO

Draw the spirit signature of Exu Meia Noite using pemba in front of the grave
stone in the form or shape of a cross at the foot of it.

Draw a circle around the spirit signature of Exu Meia Noite in a clockwise
position.

Draw a large magic circle using white pemba (chalk) (7 feet round in diameter) in
a clockwise position directly in front of the grave stone in the form or shape of a
cross.

Draw the spirit signature of the Quimbanda Cross inside of the magic circle. The
spirit signature of the Quimbanda Cross should be made large enough so as the
six points of the Quimbanda Cross touch the edges of the magic circle.

Place the Household candles on the cardinal points of the grave stone in the form
or shape of a cross by melting the bottoms of each candle and carefully attaching
them so that they stick to the grave stone.

Place the dressed black altar candle into a candle holder and then place it directly
into the center of the spirit signature of Exu Meia Noite.

Light the incense charcoal and then place it into the metal incense burner.

finger of the right hand. If you have been initiated into the Quimbanda mysteries

nganga for performing this ritual. The ceremonial sword of Exu Rei is used as a
powerful magical tool to command the spirits.

right hand do the following:

In silence, trace the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Quimbanda Cross before you in

After successfully performing the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Quimbanda Cross
and the Greater Invoking Ritual of the Quimbanda Cross then face the front of
the grave stone in the form or shape of a cross with the candles burning on it and
say and do the following;

Using your right hand, make the sign of the Quimbanda Trinity Cross over your
body. The Quimbanda Trinity sign of the Cross is made by touching the hand
sequentially to the forehead, lower chest or navel area, and right shoulder, then
left shoulder and then placing your hands together in a praying position and then
kissing your hands three times. This is how to say and do this: at the forehead, IN
THE NAME OF NZAMBI; at the naval, IN THE NAME OF EXU MAIORAL; across to
the right shoulder, IN THE NAME OF EXU REI; across to the right left shoulder, IN
THE NAME OF MARIA PADILLA REINA; and finally to the center of your heart
while placing your hands together in a praying position, SARAVA; afterwards kiss
your hands three times.

Using your right hand, tap the foot of the grave stone seven times.

THE LICENSE TO DEPARTURE CONJURATION RITUAL

A License to Depart is a simple banishing ritual that you will perform to rid the
area of any astral entities and spirits that might have been attracted to you from
the energies you are creating during these rituals. The License to Departure
Conjuration Ritual can be done in the following ritual by reciting the following:

O Mighty God Nzambi, you are the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth.

O Mighty God Nzambi you are the great force of all that is seen and unseen.

O Mighty God Nzambi, by the power invested in me through thy most sacred and
Holy of Holies, the Divine Sword of Exu, I do banish from this sacred ritual area
any and all spirits, beings and astral entities of any kind whom have been
summoned and gathered here today to assist me in this hloy ritual of Divine
Justice.

O Mighty God Nzambi, by the mighty Sword of Exu, the Divine Sword of the King
of Kings, I grant you the license to depart, so now return to the realm of God and
be on your way.

Lately, I have received a number of requests from individuals who are currently inmates in either the
State or Federal correctional institutions asking for help and guidance in relation to the magico-religious
spiritual tradition of Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda. When I start to receive multiple letters of requests on
the same subject, it is time to write up what I know so that I can, I hope, help as many people as
possible.

book if you want to experience the spiritual benefits of the Afro-Brazilian religious tradition known as
Quimbanda. I hope that your spiritual journey into the religious mysteries of Quimbanda will be as
enjoyable and positive as they have been for me over the past years.

to study and embark into the sacred world of the Afro-Brazilian religious tradition known as Quimbanda.

INTRODUCTION

The following partial manuscript was taken from the original magical Grimoire of my Great Uncle, Chico
Ita-Montenegro which is now in my possession. It is a translation from its original Portuguese version.
Although the following manuscript is only a partial selection of the original manuscript from this very
powerful book of shadows written by my uncle between 1880 and 1950, the magical formula on how to
construct the Montenegro Quimbanda Magic Mirror is an invaluable artifact of the history of the
occult, the supernatural and Latin American Spiritualism. If time permits and with the permission of the
Quimbanda Trinity and of course the Spirit of Chico Ita-Montenegro, I may sometime in the future
present the entire Grimoire to the occult world as a tribute and historical account of one man’s legacy in
the world of the Afro-Brazilian religious tradition known as Quimbanda and Latin American Sorcery. A
sacred world shrouded in mystery, rich folklore and forgotten ancient magical mysteries to invoke and
to awaken the power of the Universe.

The following magical formula of how to prepare the Montenegro Quimbanda Magic Mirror and to give
it life must be followed exactly how it was presented in the original Grimoire of Chico Ita-Montenegro. If
it is not followed exactly and correctly, the results can be detrimental to your physical, emotional and

In the year 1989, on a starry night, while silently meditating on the great mysteries in front of the altar
of the Most Holy Quimbanda Trinity, there did appear to me a bright and illuminated light. As my eyes
searched the brilliant light of the night, there did appear in front of me in full form and in full regalia the
Highest of all Angels, the King of Kings, Exu Maioral. Without fear, I gazed upon the spectacular and
amazing sight. As he stared into my eyes, He knew me. Exu Maioral, holding the “Holy Book of Secret
Truth and Knowledge” in his left hand and the “Divine Sword of Exu” in his right hand, he then did Knight
me and then placing upon my head the “Divine Crown of Glory”, the divine knowledge of the secret
celestial mysteries of invocation to unlock the forbidden doors to where the “Tree of Knowledge” grows
to deliver the “Sacred Word” of Nzambi and the Seven Quimbanda Kingdoms to His children here on
Earth.
