Plight of Indian Villages- Part 21

“Har-Har Gange, Bolo Ganga Mata Ki Jai.” Sanjay Singh uttered these slogans in
Haridwar.

After worshiping almighty God in several temples like Maya Devi, Mansa Devi, Chandi
Devi, Anjani Devi etc and Rishikesh city of Uttarakhand state of India. Sanjay Singh and
his wife reached Doon School, Dehradoon. Their youngest son Shyam did not come to
hostel till 11 PM on that day.

Sanjay Singh made complete enquiry regarding daily routine of Shyam. After a long
time, Ram explained every activity of Shyam. Shyam came at 1 PM.

Suddenly Shyam entered in to the room and was astonished to see his parents there
without any prior intimation. Sanjay Singh asked Shyam the reason of coming late. But,
he could not give satisfactory reply. After some time he knew that, his parents are already
aware about his ill habits.

When Sanjay Singh knew that Shyam would not take keen interest in his studies
anymore, Sanjay Singh took him to his village. He asked him to look after agriculture
work.

He happily started working on fields and also looking after other domestic work. One-day
village Panchayat constituted a committee to construct a temple in the village. The
committee would try to get subscription for this temple from the habitants of this village
and nearby villages. A majority of villagers tried their level best to donate generously and
also collected a Hugh amount of donation from nearby villages.

The Purohit of the village Kali Shankar Shukla was called by village Pradhan and was
requested to make arrangements of starting construction by doing Pran Pratishtha Pooja.

After a long time the very auspicious day came when the temple was made and Pran
Pratishtha Pooja was performed in the presence of MLA of the area.

“Our son Laxman has been posted as a doctor in Primary Health Centre of our village and
he is coming within a week to join his duties. His class mate in M.B.B.S in Medical
Collage, Neetu Agarwal has also been posted the Lady Doctor in P.H.C”. Fakire’s wife
Vidya who was educated, red the letter of her son Laxman.
She had her education up to high school. Her husband Fakire was uneducated. He
belonged to Kori cast, which comes under scheduled cast category.
On the day already fixed by the state medical department, both had joined in P.H.C of the
village. There was a festival like atmosphere in the village. The poor villagers had seen a
ray of hope in the form of medical facilities for which they had to go too far of place in
the city. Before the arriving of Laxman and Neetu, there was not a single doctor who had
worked there for a long time at the P.H.C. Doctors who were posted at the P.H.C, got
cancelled their transfer orders by hook or crook.
“Pradhan Ji! Head Master of the village primary school Maiku Yadav was telling that our
state government has been kind enough to post two new teachers who have been recently
appointed on the basis of new recruitment. They belong to near by villages.” Ram
Bharose social worker of the village happily told village Pradhan GurPrashad.

“Can anyone recognize the dead body of this girl?” sub-inspector of Nagram Police
Station, Ram Singh inquired from the villagers present there, after receiving F.I.R on
recovering a dead body.
“Daroga Saheb! This dead body is of my daughter Rajjo. She was missing from the
village since last 15 days. This is work of Raju and none other. He has murdered my
lovely daughter.” Bhagvan Deen told Sub-Inspector Ram Singh.
After primary investigation, Sub-Inspector Ram Singh went to the resident of Thakur
Pradeep Singh. He enquired about his son Raju. Pradeep Singh told S.I Ram Singh that
he has gone somewhere. He has no knowledge of whereabouts of Raju.
After two months, Raju was arrested from a relative’s house in Faizabad, UP. A case has
been filed in session court, Lucknow and decision of the court is still pending.

The UP Government has decided to improve the present bad conditions of village
medical service. The government has failed to serve the villagers through primary health
centers (P.H.C's). Till now, the doctors who were ordered to work in P.H.Cs have shown
their unwillingness to serve in rural areas.
The state government is thinking to make responsible the private sector for village
medical service under the proposed scheme, after making responsible private sector for
these services. The government staff posted in these hospitals that is i.e. P.H.Cs will be
transferred to somewhere else.
The government would bear 80% of the cost of the maintenance expended by private
sector. In spite this N.G.Os would also be given a number of facilities to establish these
hospitals.
How ever, it is a fact to be mentioned that we have received encouraging results from
Bihar. Due to poor medical facilities, the poor villagers have to pay a heavy price.
According to survey of World Bank, it is seen that about 46% doctors and 41% of other
paramedical workers are generally absent from their duties. Even, junior doctors are not
willing to serve in villages in these hospitals.
The youth of our country have decided to drive corruption, terrorism, unemployment etc
out to make our India a better place to live in. They think that they should get inspired
and work for the best of our country. We are proud to be an Indian and part of its success
story. We can see a potential for growth that is more than extra ordinary and only a few
countries can compete with the level of progress in each and every sphere of our society.
