Background
• If untreated waste water enter into the surface & ground water
resources, it leads to a great human health risk.

* Waste water drainages are significant sources of phosphorus (P) into


water bodies. These P promotes an abnormal growth of algae and
aquatic plants. As plants die, they decay by reducing the
concentration of dissolved oxygen. This can cause the death of fish
and aquatic species. This leads to a serious environmental risk.
Objectives

1. To assess the performance of slag for wastewater treatment.

2. To assess organic compound removal efficiency by slag.


WHY SLAG???

1. It is a byproduct of steel.

2. It is inexpensive.

3. According to EUROSLAG statics, more than 45 million tons of


iron & steel slag was produced only in Europe in 2016. 10% of them
were deposited in land. So it is easily getable.
