SCALE [ BRANT : 20401 el n 30) List Nol HF- D TSUNEISHT SHIPBUILDING CO.,LTD. 20401 - 2 1. General I-1. Brands of Paints which are mentioned on “Page 8 & 9” shall be used. Surface preparation and painting works shall be carried out in accordance with Builder’s standard practice and the Maker's recommendations. . Pinhole test shall not be carried out. 1-4, Builder's standard paint shall be used for outfittings except specially mentioned, 1-5. Machines, electric equipment and etc. which are made by manufacture shall be coated by manufacture in accordance with their standard except specially mentioned. Finishing colour shall depend on manufacture's standard, except specially mentioned. 1-6. Generally followings shall not be coated with paint. 1) Stainless steel and non ferrous material such as brass, bronze, aluminum, ete. 2) Galvanized fittings which are accommodated in invisible space such as inside of lining, void space, ete. 3) Steel decks which are coated with deck composition or cement. 4) Wooden fittings in store or locker. 5) Insulation and insulation cover surface. 6) Inside surface which is totally enclosed water~ / air- tight spaces, void spaces, mooring fittings, mast, post and etc.. 7) Enclosed surface under doubling plate. 1-7. Time schedule of painting of each coat shall be decided according to the Builder's: construction schedule and paint maker's requirement, but shall not disturb the Builder’s construction schedule. 1-8. Painting works shal! be performed by “Airless” spray as far as possible, and roller and/or hand brush shall be used where the use of airless spray is restricted due to the lack of working spaces or the marking of border line, ete. 1-9. Painting specification shall be changed in accordance with the paint maker's recommendation. 20401 - 3 2. Surface preparation 2-1, Shot blast 1) Following steel plates and sections shall be shot-blast at raw material stage. a) All steel plates and sections of 5.5 m and above in thickness for hull Structural member which are coated with paint. b) Steel plates and sections in hull structural tanks for fuel oil, diesel oil, Jubricating oil and other oil for machinery use which are no coated with paint. c) Funnel, mast, post, boom and large outfitting. But, small outfitting, pipe, round bar, ventilation duct, etc. Shall not be shot-blasted except specially mentioned. 2) The grade of surface preparation shall be Sa.2.5 of SIS (Swedish Standard) for steel plate and Sa.2 SiS for sections. 2-2. Shop primer 1) The shot-blasted surface shal! be removed rust and mill scale by shot~ blasting and then inmediately coated with one (1) of shop primer. 2) Following shop primer shall be used in general. "CERABOND" CHUGOKU MARINE PAINT (MODIFIED INORGANIC ZINC PRIMER) But other shop primer to be equivalent to “CERABOND" may be used for the steel materials shot-blasted by subcontractors. 2-3. Edge preparation 1) The plate edges and corners and sections of steel structure shall not be generally smoothed by grinding, disc-sanding, etc. for the application of painting except specified.
