Chips method (A Classroom Action Research at the second year of SMP Negeri 6
Satap Malangke Luwu Utara).Thesis S-1,Guided By H.Abd.Muis Ba’dulu and
NurQalbi.

This research aims to find out the Improvment of the students’ Speaking Skill
tharough Talking Chips method (A classroom Action Research at the second year of
SMP Negeri 6 Satap Malangke Luwu Utara). The Problem statements of the research
are 1) How is the improvment of the students speaking Accuracy through Talking
Chips Method? 2) How is the improvment of the students speaking Fluency through
Talking Chips Method?

The research used A Classrom Action (CAR). The researcher had conducted
two cycles, where each cycle consisted of four meetings. It employed vocabulary
test as instrument. The number of the subject of the research 21 students. The
researcher took real data from the school to know the studentas’ speaking skill. This
research use Talking Chips Method.

The results of The students’ speaking skill test in cycle 1 and cycle 2 had
significantly different scores. There was a better increase of gains by the students at
the end of the second cycle. The research findings indicated that the use of Talking
Chips Method could improve the students’ speaking skill and after evaluation in
cycle I and II, the means score improved from 61.02 in the first cycle to 78.48 in the
second one which was categorized good enough. It can be stated that the students’
speaking skill accuracy in vocabulary and fluency at the second year of SMP Negeri
6 Satap Malangke Luwu Utara was in alow level before the test in the first cycle and
position of speaking skill accuracy in vocabulary and fluency in self confidence
moved into a high level after the test in the second cycle. The conclusion is the
students’ speaking skill improve by using Talking Chips.
