Placing of material

- Placing of bituminous hot mix will be carried out with dump truck and
wheelbarrows. Spreading, and finishing will be done manually.
- The layer shall be tamped to form a hard mass of uniform compacted thickness of
50mm.
- Compaction will be carried out using vibratory hand roller (e.c 760kg)
- The areas inaccessible for vibratory hand roller will be compacted with a plate
compactor.
- The material should be not less than 110-120”C during the laying operation and
the compaction should be obtained before the material reaches 80”C.
- No traffic on the surface will be allowed for a cooling period of 12 hours.
- As works progress the layer will be constantly checked ensuring that the depth
and level is achieved and maintained.
