​ In “Nantucket”, William Carlos Williams uses

enjambment to represent the tone of enjoyment to create a


theme of a good time.

There are the uses of enjambment three times to


bring the content from the end of line 1 to 2, 3 to 4 and 4 to 5
to illustrate to the reader about the wonderfulness of the good
time. For the example in stanza 2 line 2 that are enjambed to
stanza 3 line 1 “Smell of cleanliness - Sunshine of late
afternoon” to create a tone of enjoyment and make the reader
sees the picture of the cleanliness places and afternoon sun to
support the theme of a good time. The word “Sunshine” in the
stanza 3 line, 1 Also make the reader that read the poem feel
relaxed and calm. The effectiveness of enjambment and also
make his poem becomes plentiful understandable and
