Needs Assessment:

Strategic Challenges:

● Richardson ISD needs to address the high need for an IT teacher on

campus at all time. Teachers that are certified to teach students
about technology as well as teachers. According to my IT teacher, the
district hires teachers that are not truly certified. They are just
teachers that wanted to get out of the classroom. How do we expect
our students to grow with technology if we don’t give them the best
support.
● If Carolyn Bukhair doesn’t address the serious demand for
technology devices we will soon lose teachers trying to implement
technology. As of right now we have one IPAD cart, one computer
lab, every general education teacher has five IPADS ( including
teacher IPAD), and special education teacher get two IPADS. I am a
special education teacher and my biggest groups has eight students
in it. How can I possible walk all my students through how to use an
IPAD with two IPADS?

● Carolyn Bukhair time management needs to improve if we ever want

to give our students a chance with technology and success. With the
state wanting us to teacher all the TEKS and the districts putting a
time frame on teachers, it gives them a very hard time to implement
technology into a lesson or even into the classroom. This can cause
multiple challenges all by itself. Including teachers mindsets towards
technology.

Strategic Advantages:

1. Carolyn Bukhair Elementary can continue to build an innovative

training/ professional development to help teachers overcome the
anxiety of implementing technology in the classroom. Without
technology training we would repeat history. We will continue using
old outdated resources that no longer benefit us or the students. We
also need all hands on deck, not just a handful. For teachers unwilling
we need to find a way that appeals to them.
2. Carolyn Bukhair has trainings that qualified certain teachers as
“Apple Teacher's.” Since we have Apple products this comes in
handy for the school and district. With the Apple Teachers ( I am one
of them) we strive to show the connect for other teachers who
unfamiliar with the new gear/technology.
3. Carolyn Bukhair does use the technology that it is given to the
maximum. We even are in demand for more since there isn’t enough.
We use the technology for reading programs, intervention and even
behavior management.
