The death toll again increased to 1,407 people, and was feared to continue to
increase, while during his second visit, President Joko Widodo acknowledged that
there were security problems that must also be overcome.
A spokesman for the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Sutopo Purwo
Nugroho at a press conference Wednesday (3/10) afternoon, revealed that some of
the dead had been buried en masse.
"While there were 2,549 seriously injured, there were 113 missing people, and 152
people were buried. The number of refugees was more than 73,000," Sutopo said.

The death toll was recorded at 1,177 found in Palu, 153 people were found in the
district of Donggala, 65 people were found in Sigi Regency and 12 people in Parigi
Moutong District.
"There were also requests from foreign embassies that the dead who were
foreigners should not be buried immediately, to be identified first. But until now no
victims have been found who are foreigners," Sutopo added.

In the morning, during his second visit to the location of the earthquake and tsunami
in Palu, President Joko Widodo acknowledged there were security problems that
must also be addressed.

"This field management (handling Donggala Palu disaster) is still looking for form,"
Jokowi said after reviewing the evacuation at Roa-Roa Hotel, Palu.
There are various problems, such as the availability of fuel and heavy equipment,
which have now begun to be overcome.
And that needs to be addressed as soon as possible too, said Jokowi, "The security
side: (sending aid and fuel) must ask to be escorted by a number of officials. This is
the case in every disaster event, it is different."
Previously, the Governor of Central Sulawesi, Longki Djanggola, asked the security
forces to truly control the cities affected by the disaster. He was worried, the limited
conditions made local people act against the law.
"All assistance by land through Donggola and Parigi Mutong is escorted by officials
to prevent undesirable things."
"The community insists on asking for goods, the conditions are like that, because
there are no food ingredients," he said.

scene when some residents forced to enter a supermarket.
Now, said Jokowi, all the heavy equipment has entered, "Logistics has also entered
even though it has not been maximized. BBM, today hopefully everything has
entered."
While electricity, the poles and cables, as well as the substations have begun to be
repaired.
