Chapter 1

“Mom! Dad!” I yelled, desperately shaking the two cold bodies in front of me. “Wake up,

please! Nova and I need you! C’mon, you still haven’t seen Nova’s power yet! You can’t just

leave us!” A cold, wet substance ran down my face.

“Willow?” A child’s voice called.

“Nova. Stay here, I’m leaving.”

“Are you coming back?”

I spun around and wrapped my arms around the tiny girl. “Stay and live, Nova. I’m

going to get my revenge, that hero needs to pay.”

“Oh god, my back is killing me!” I stretched as I got out of my old, creaky bed. Running

my fingers through my messy, brown hair, I brushed my teeth. Ain’t nobody got time for

brushing their hair.

“Mmm. . . You’re up early.” A groggy voice stated.

“Ugh, I keep forgetting you live here, Igatus.”

“It’s Ignatius, and I Own you!”

“Whatever.” I flopped down onto the couch, which I regretted because the couch was old

and stiff. “Why couldn’t I get a rich Owner?”

“At least I, uh, I have a nice name?”

“No, you don’t. Your name hurts my mouth.”

༛༛ ༛ ༛༺༻༛ ༛ ༛༛

“This match will determine whether I will Own you or you Own me. If you were to go

against your Owner’s orders, there will be consequences. This match will basically decide how

the rest of your life will be, are you sure you want to continue?” The ravenette recited.

“Yeah sure, whatever. This a video game or something?” I replied.

“Ignatius, it’s nice to meet you.”

“Willow, I can’t say the same.”

The fight began. Of course, Ignatius struck first. His power, Cremation. Basically, his

flames are so hot, they’re blue. The flames spread like butter. He had the advantage because,

well, my power was, Plant Manipulation. “At this rate, I’ll win.”

“According to my calculations, no.” Suddenly, vines erupted from the ground. “These

were specially made for me. A villain like myself can’t have one trick up their sleeve!”

“You have no sleeves.”

“Oh crap, you’re right.” The vines wrapped around me, lifting me into the air away from

the fire.

“You’re right, villains can’t have one trick.” He smirked at me. You know that anime boy

smirk? Yeah, it was pretty cute.

“I think I just lost, okay you win.”

༛༛ ༛ ༛༺༻༛ ༛ ༛༛

“Now that I think about it, Igna whatever, you cheated in our battle. Also, I purposely lost

because I needed somewhere to live.” I looked at him, upside down, leaning on the armrest of the

couch.

“Willow, we need to focus on Oz.”

“Who now?”

“Oz? The one who killed your parents?”

“Oh, him.”
“Oz started recruiting these wannabe heroes. One of them is Nova, she has a pretty nice

power. It’s a mix of your parents’, Fallen Angel.”

“Nova? As in, Nova Grace?”

“Yup, seems like she has an Owner as well.”

“Who?”

“He’s a male, his name is Rai, his power is Electrification, and he’s about a few months

older than Nova.”

I cursed under my breath. “I won’t be able to hurt her, I can’t let her see me.”

“Just put a mask covering the skin around your eyes, that always seems to work.”

“That only works in anime, Iggy.”

“Iggy?”

“What? It’s easier to say! Anyways, Rai what?”

“Rai. . . There’s not much information on him, I could only find his first name, power,

and a few other things. He did well in the entrance exam, too.”

“You can see how he made a contract with Nova, right?”

“Yeah, but I don’t think you’ll like it. . .” He turned the laptop towards me.

“You’re right, I don’t like it one. Bit.”

༛༛ ༛ ༛༺༻༛ ༛ ༛༛
I looked in the mirror, surprised. Ignatius had given me a complete makeover so I could

spy on that hero school. My previously tangled, brown hair is now a forest green with messy

braids taming my wild hair. It was still a mess, though.

He also put some makeup on me, to my despise. He somehow made me look like a

16-year-old girl. He made me put on a black hoodie, jeans, and black tennis shoes. “Now, you’ll

have to pass the entrance exam for class 1-A, that would be best,” Ignatius explained.

“I could have gotten in through recommendations if you told me this before!” I growled.

“Sorry!” I walked out the door dragging the ravenette with me. “H-hang on! People will

recognize me!”

“Well, it sucks to be you.”

Thump!

I looked back and realized that I had dropped the boy on the hard, wooden floor. I

shrugged it off and headed towards the school. As soon as I stepped out into the sunlight, a drop

of water fell on my nose. Another and another, until it was pouring. “It’s raining cats and dogs

out here. . .” I mumbled to myself.

I stomped through the small puddles of mud and eventually reached the door. “Halt!

Please state your name and purpose here!” One of the guards practically screamed, which for

some reason reminded me of Hitler.

With the most innocent looking face I could muster I recited, “May I please take the

entrance exam? I’m really strong and my life dream is to be a hero!”

“Only if Principal Night says it’s fine.” The same guard walks inside the school while the

other stares me down. I awkwardly stood there, changing my standing position every few

seconds and tugging on my sleeves. “She says it’s fine!” The enthusiastic guard ran back out.

“Thank you so much!” I bowed respectively. And there, our plan had started.

Chapter 2

A red-head stood in front of me, her golden eyes half closed, underneath them were dark

circles, and her hair in a small, messy bun. “Luciel’s the name.” She greeted me. “So, how this is

going to work. . . You’re going to. . .” Her half closed eyes were now shut as she snored away.

“Um, hello?” I poked her shoulder.

“Huh? Oh, sorry!” She laughed, rubbing the back of her neck. “Just try to snatch my hair

clip.”

“What?”

“You heard me! Weird, I know, but trust me!”

“Alright. . .” I shrugged it off and waited for the signal.

“You know, in a real b attle, you don’t wait for a signal. . .” She yawned. Still standing,

her body slumped and her eyes closed as if she were asleep.

This must be her power.

I slowly reached for her hair, but she disappeared in a blink of an eye. “What the h-” I

started.
“No cursing in my Christian Minecraft server!” Luciel’s voice mumbled from behind me.

“You need to be more observant, more alert. You don’t know my power, but I know yours!” She

was right, but I have killed many people without knowing their powers. “Now, let the real b attle

begin!”

She flopped onto the ground, snoring away. I just stared at her in disbelief. Bending down

to her level, I reached for her hair. Her nose twitched as she rolled onto her side, dodging my

hand. “Ah, now I know who you are, Lucifer!” Her eyes immediately darted open as she jumped

up and covered my mouth.

“Who do you think you are?”

“If you’re going to choose a name, choose something that isn’t close to your real or

codename, unless, of course, you’re me, but you’re not.”

“Fair enough, but who are you?”

“Aw, I’m hurt! I’m Poison Ivy, but when we’re in public, I go by Willow.”

“Willow? I thought you died. . .”

“Dead? Me? I wish!”

“Nova said. . . She told me you died!”

“Well, I’m surprised Nova even remembers me. I used a new plant I developed to alter

her memories. She thinks she was the only survivor of the incident.”

Luciel suddenly wrapped her arm around my torso, holding me as if she would lose me.

“You don’t know how much this means to me. . . I became a villain to get revenge for you.”
“We can kill Oz together then, you’ll have to meet my Owner though.”

“Alright, but first things first.” She handed me the hair clip, smiling. “Let’s get you into

the hero school!”

༛༛ ༛ ༛༺༻༛ ༛ ༛༛

“I was expecting a small camp outside, but this. . . Wow!” I gazed at the huge building.

“Wait until you see the outdoor training area.” Luciel smiled at my expression.

“What class are you in?”

“Not in yours, I’m a third year.”

“Aw, okay. See you after school then?”

“Sure!”

Luciel dropped me off at the door of her class, pointing me to the direction of Class 1-A,

she waved me goodbye. Turning around, I walked into a wall. The wall spoke, “Watch it.”

“Huh?” I rubbed my forehead as I looked up, seeing his face. He had blonde hair and

amber eyes. “Who are you?”

“Crispin, and you?”

“What kind of name is that?!”

“Not like I can choose it! Anyways, get out of my way.”

Just who does he think he is?

I shrugged my shoulders and headed inside the room. “Hey there, newbie! I’m Rose, your

new best friend!” A pink haired girl jumped in front of me. Her hair was short and choppy and

her wide eyes were bright green.

“Oh, hello. Call me Willow.” I looked around the room seeing many different people.

“Hey, our names both relate to nature!”

“Yeah, yeah.”

I removed myself from the conversation and took a seat next to a literal demon. . . Well, I

wasn’t sure if she was a demon, she had a long, red dragon tail, beautiful dragon wings, and the

devil’s horns. She was chatting away with a blonde.

Poof!

The girl now had fluffy, white angel wings and a pale yellow halo floating above her

head. “Holy crap, that’s so cool!” I gasped.

“O-oh, I’m s-sorry about that!” She apologized.

Poof!

She was back to being a demon. . . Er, dragon. “Sorry about what? Anyways, I’m

Willow. It’s nice to meet you!” I smiled at her.

“W-Willow..? That’s a nice n-name. I’m N-Nova.”

The blonde got up and hugged the ravenette from behind, placing his chin on top of her

head. “Hey, you’re making her uncomfortable.” He growled.

“Whoops, sorry.” I smirked, my forest green eyes turning a lime for a second.

The class got silent as a rainbow-haired old man entered the room. He mumbled curses,

saying something about kids. “Apparently, we have a new student today. Willow, please raise

your hand.” He commanded.

“Whatever, old man.” I sighed and attempted to raise my hand.

“What did you call me?”

His previously rainbow hair was now a pure white and his eyes a captivating red. I

couldn’t move at all. “I-I said bold man! You’re a bold man, yeah!” I lied.

“Well. . . That’s a whole other thing. Welcome to Class A.” His hair went back to a

rainbow and his eyes back to pale purple.

So. . . This is Oz.

Chapter 3

I never explained how powers and Owners work, huh. Powers are pretty self-explanatory,

some are useful while others aren’t. People are separated into three groups, Heroes, Villains, and

Commoners.

A person can Own another person, but both people have to agree or of course a fair deal.

This forms a contract. For example, Ignatius now Owns me because of a fair deal. Sometimes,

you can get an Owner automatically through special bonds. Nova and Rai. . . Nevermind.

༛༛ ༛ ༛༺༻༛ ༛ ༛༛

“Well, this is my idiot Owner.” I sighed, pointing to the blue-eyed male.

“Hey!” Ignatius glared at me.

“Hi!”

Luciel shook his hand and smiled sweetly. “So, you’ve been stalking the school, huh?”

Her golden eyes lit up.

“W-what?! How’d you-?” Ignatius was stopped with a kiss on the lips. His eyes widened

and his face flushed. I was shocked and for some reason, I felt a surge of negative emotions. “No

way. . . Willow, how’d you get them t o join us?!”

“What do you mean?” I tilted my head.

“Lucifer, the seduction villain. He’s been requested by every villainous group and heroes

don’t even know his identity or power yet! He never fails any of her missions!”

“I never fail any of my missions. . .” I mumbled to myself.

“I’m a she, unless and until I tell you otherwise.” Luciel walked towards the open laptop

and began typing away. “Nova Grace has an older brother who had adopted her, I guess. Her

name is now Nova Smith, her older brother being in my class, Crispin Smith.”

“Huh, that name sounds very. . . dumb.” I chuckled. Who the heck names their child

Crispin?!

“Don’t underestimate him, he’s the strongest kid in the class, besides me of course. His

“I met Rose, though I don’t see how she’s dangerous.” I pointed out.

“Rose Rya, her power is Telekinesis. Imagine what you could do with that power!”

“Uh, carry things?” I jested, walking towards the kitchen. “I’m making dinner tonight,

Ignatius.”

“Aha, so you can say my name!” Ignatius exclaimed.

“D-don’t think anything of it!” The tips of my ears burned up as I stomped away to the

kitchen.

I’m such an idiot, and who the heck says ‘Don’t think anything of it’ anymore?! I even

stuttered! Ugh, I hate this!

༛༛ ༛ ༛༺༻༛ ༛ ༛༛

I stared at the ceiling while I laid in the creaky bed. Luciel was staying over which meant

she was sleeping with me. Luciel sort of looked like a guy with her hair out of that bun. It was

scruffy, a beautiful scarlet. Once her head hit the pillow, she was snoring away.

I turned on my side and thought of the next day. Nova. . . I missed her so much. I didn’t

think she would be on those stupid hero’s side, but then again, she was always so kind and

helpful. I smiled to myself, thinking about my life before the incident, before Ignatius, before. . .

Oz.

If that stupid hero didn’t show up, Nova would be with me, I wouldn’t be stuck in this

dump, our parents would be alive! I remember their faces vaguely. My father had large, red

wings, sharp, vermillion horns, and a long dragon tail. His eyes were a scarlet and his hair was

like mine, the color of tree bark. Nova got most of her looks from him.
Mom, on the other hand, had beautiful angel wings and a yellow halo on her head. I

remember that whenever she got excited that her halo got brighter. Her eyes were the color of the

sky and her hair was long and silky. She had onyx colored hair that flowed in the wind.

I was different. . . I didn’t get a power like theirs or any features, besides my hair, of

course. I remember hearing my mom talking to someone on the phone. I heard her saying she

was afraid, that she didn’t want to raise a monster. I was told that I got all my looks, traits, and

power from my grandfather. He was known as the villain, Discord.

I shivered in disgust and closed my eyes. I have school tomorrow.

“Willow, wake up, you’re going to be late.” Ignatius gently shook me.

“You’re not my Dad.” I groaned, turning to the other side.

“Well, I’m your Owner, and if you don’t get up this instant I will-”

“Okay, okay! I’m up!” I got up and walked towards the bathroom. “It’s like I’m 16 all

over again.” I forced Ignatius to do my hair and makeup again and put on the clothes he picked

out.

“Get this, I made a special costume that helps you use your power! So now you can use

your power even in lifeless deserts!” His blue eyes sparkled as he smiled widely.

“Sometimes I ask myself why I lost to you.” I giggled as I looked in the mirror. It was a

regular hoodie, regular tights, and regular sneakers. “Uh. . . I don’t see what’s so special about

this.”

“Ah, the hoodie can eject water from the sleeves to help your plants grow. The tights

aren’t really special, they’re just really durable. Your sneakers allow you to jump really high. My

favorite part is this, though. . .” He handed me a small shoulder bag that had a bunch of buttons

and nerdy stuff. “You can make seeds out of this.”

“Woah, really?!” I gasped, looking at the bag, trying to figure out how it worked.

“Yup! Here, watch!” He pressed a few buttons and a seed came out of one of the holes a

second later. “This is a-”

“A rose seed. You know I know that, right?”

“R-right. . .”

Oh, yeah, I can tell what kind of plant a seed will be just by the scent. “Rejected.” Luciel

entered the room, snickering. He was ready to go. “I think today’s a guy day.” He smiled widely.

Wait, what did she mean by ‘rejected’?

I shrugged it off and thanked Ignatius. “Uh, just so you know. . . I turned 25. . .”

“Ah, that means we’re rich now!” He smiled.

“Yeah.”

“Holy heck, can you two get a room?! Willow, we’re going to be late!” Luciel grabbed

my hand and dragged me towards the school. “I’m sorry I kissed him yesterday. . .” He

apologized.

“I-it’s okay!” I reassured him.

“Hang on, what did he mean back there?”

“That I. . . Er, we were rich now?”

“Yeah.”
“Well, as you know my family used to be really r ich. . . Once my parents died, they said

to give me all of their money once I turned 25.”

Luciel smiled at me. “Well, happy birthday!” He waved goodbye and went off to his

classroom.

“N-Naomi, I don’t think I-I can carry all o-of this!” A familiar voice cried. I decided to

ignore it, it wasn’t my problem after all. “W-Willow! Please help!” Well, heck.

“Uh-” I started.

“Hey! I told you t o carry it, don’t make that peasant help you!” This voice sounded

annoying, it made me want to punch someone in the face.

“Excuse me, but I think you should be carrying your own crap!” I turned around and saw

Rose, she was struggling to pick up all of the fallen papers and books. Standing above her was a

blonde haired girl with black eyes.

“I’m Rose’s Owner, back off!”

“I bet you just played her like a pawn, you got her to agree so that she could do all of

your dirty work.” Rose stopped picking up the papers for a second, glancing at me for a second,

but then going back to pick up the papers.

“So? It’s not like it matters anymore.” Naomi giggled when suddenly I was pushed back

with a gust of wind. “I suggest you give up.”

Rule number one of fighting an unidentified opponent. Never give away your power at the

beginning of a battle.
“Tell me. Are you a second year?” I licked my lips, cracking my knuckles.

“Y-yes, why?” She put her foot behind her, ready to run away.

Rule number 2. Never answer any personal questions that could put you in potential

danger.

“Yet, you’ve broken 2 of the most important rules of the Power Safety Handbook.”

“You actually read that?!”

“Of course I did. I do intend on staying alive after all. . . I assume you do as well, right?”

My eyes flashed a lime. She nodded, her eyes full of fear. “I suggest you give up.”

She nodded some more and ran away as fast as she could. “T-thank you!” Rose dropped

all of Naomi’s stuff and stood up. I saw a few scratches and bruises on her knees, but I ignored

it. I clicked my tongue and went towards the classroom. “Wait!”

“I’m late to class.”

“Hey, I am, too! Let’s be late together!”

How can someone be this optimistic?!

Chapter 5

“WILLOW!” A stern voice yelled at me.

“NO, NOT MY CAKE! Oh, uh, yeah?” My head shot up from my desk as I looked

around the room.

“Stop sleeping in class.”

“‘Kay.”

Of course, I was going to keep sleeping in class. I laid my head back down and stared at

the board, pretending to pay attention when actually I was thinking about how to spend my

money. Maybe I can buy a new house and lots of new furniture, but only the furniture we need.

We can finally have good food and get a secret base. “Rai, can you read page 10 for us?” Oz

asked.

“No, I cannot. Whaddup, I’m Rai, and I never learned how to read.” The blonde

chuckled.

“What about you, Nova?”

“Oh, what’s this? Suddenly, I know how to read!”

“Yeah, okay.”

I looked over and saw the dragon girl relax, I also noticed something different about her.

She had red scales covering her cheeks. To be honest, it looked better and made her look more

dangerous. I guess that means she unlocked her dragon form.

Let me explain, Nova has a mix of both of her parents’ powers, it’s pretty common these

days. So, my father had unlocked both, his demon and dragon form. That only happens when you

have reached your full potential, but it’s actually very rare to get both forms. You see, my father

also inherited both of his parents’ powers, so it’s pretty confusing.

If she were to unlock her demon form, her fangs would show and she’d have longer nails.

Dragon form shows scales in different areas of the body, like the sides and cheeks. If she had

both, all of those features would appear. Dragon form allows her to transform into a dragon and

Demon form allows her to become an invincible creature of Hell. Anyways, while Rai was

reading the book, I examined each of the students I saw that were on the list.

Josephine Spark, her power, Phobia. She was at the top of the list to kill for all villains.

Phobia i s a power in which the user can show his or her opponent their worst fear, but the

drawbacks of it are exhaustion, and possibly, death if used too much. She had long, blonde hair
that looked like a waterfall flowing down her back. Her blue eyes had glasses shielding them and

her skin was very pale.

from using it too much, so she trained herself in martial arts. She could probably beat me in a

used to be pink before her power formed because the color green isn’t really normal for

Lastly, Nova Smith. I already explained the basics of her power, Fallen Angel. Her

Demon Dragon form lets her emit fire from her hands and fly, but that’s basically it. Her Angel

form would be effective for defense, she can heal and create borders. The borders can also be

used for offense, slowly shrinking the space your opponent’s in until they’re crushed or let them

slowly suffocate. Excuse my twisted mindset. Her magnificent scarlet eyes complimented her

vermillion scales and her onyx colored hair looked exactly like Mom’s.

“Willow, do you want to go to the café with us?” A pinkette asked me excitedly.

They’d be suspicious if I declined, but if I had a good excuse. . .

“I can’t today, maybe next week? My Owner wants to celebrate something special

today.” I replied.

“Oh, okay. I’ll invite you next week then?”

30 minutes. He was also on the list of people to look out for.

“C-Crispin, don’t be so m-mean.” The onyx haired girl appeared from behind me.

“Fine, but if you lay even a finger on Nova-” Crispin was shut up by Nova’s hand

covering his mouth.

“Ah, Crispin, may I take Nova for a bit?” A wild Rai kissed Nova’s cheek, causing her

face to flush.

“R-Rai!” Nova playfully punched him.

“Get a room.” I rolled my eyes, leaving the cluster of people.

Chapter 6

“Oh, Willow, you’re back early!” Ignatius sweatdropped, hiding something behind his

back.

“Mhm.” I hummed, picking up the distinct scent of roses. Curious, I tried to see what the

ravenette was hiding, catching a glimpse of the item. It has some green and white and it looked

pretty edible.

“Hang on, I’m getting a call.” He ran to his room, backwards. (I’ll admit, I was pretty

impressed with that.) I frowned a little and sat down at the table with the laptop. I looked at the

news article Ignatius was reading.

ANGEL OF DARKNESS STRIKES AGAIN!

The self-proclaimed angel of darkness steals from the bank vault! She gets away again,

assaulting 3 police officers, and escaping into the dark.

Ugh, again? She’s just hogging all of the attention now. “H-hey, Willow? Can you come

help me with something?” Ignatius’s voice sounded panicked, so of course, I refused.

“Suffer, peasant.” I sneered.

“Please?” Hesitantly, I got up, walking towards the dimly lit room.

“Don’t tell me you got stuck under the bed again. . .”

“Uh-”

“You’re hopeless.” I sighed and looked under the bed seeing his shiny, blue eyes in the

dark. “What the heck were you doing under there?!”

“Uh, I dropped something important and it rolled under the bed.”

“Sometimes I wonder why I’m not your Owner.” I grabbed his arm and pulled with all of

my might, pulling him out from underneath the bed.

“Ow! H-hey, Willow. . ?” The male called shyly.

“What is it?”

“Am I a bad Owner?”

His face looked so heartbroken making me feel like I had done something wrong. “What,

no! You’re great!” I smiled, hugging him awkwardly. He shakily hugged back, burying his face

in my shoulder.
“Y-you always complain about m-me being a bad Owner, and I g-guess I believed it.

That was s-stupid of me. . !”

I’m such an idiot. . . I’ve been lowering his self-esteem just by that. . .

“Look, Ignatius. I’m really sorry, the truth is. . . I-”

“Willow, I have something to tell you. . .”

“Alrighty then, go ahead.” He grunted as he got up, holding his hand out to me.

“Y’know, I kinda like the floor.” I jested, taking his warm hand. Sitting down next to the

ravenette he started,

“I have an older brother who has all the Riche fortune. . . His name is Alexander Riche

“Why now?”

“Well-”

Knock knock.

I flinched. “Luciel must be here. . . Right?!” Panicking, I ran to the door and creaked it

open. A tall, handsome male stood at the doorway. He had sapphire eyes, like Ignatius, pure

white hair, sharp fangs, pale skin, sunglasses, and an umbrella.

“I must have the wrong house, my mistake, madame.” He showed off his teeth, peering

inside the house. “Unless, of course, my dear brother is here?”

“Ew, Ignatius wouldn’t have a proper gentleman like you as a brother.” I tried to shut the

door, but he grabbed it quickly.

“Ah, Ignatius! That was his name! May I please enter? The sunlight is literally killing

me.”

Hesitantly, I opened the door as he grabbed my hand gently. “Boy, who do you think you

are-”

“Alexander Riche. I’m sure Ignatius has told you about me?”

“Uh. . . I think so, like a minute ago.”

He brought my hand up to his lips as he smirked slightly. “May I take some of your

blood? I do love Type O.” He parted his lips a little showing his fangs.

“Hold up-” His fangs grazed my hand and suddenly I was pulled away.

“What do you think you’re doing, Alexander?!” Ignatius growled, holding me

protectively.

“I wanted to taste this young lady’s blood,” Alexander stated a matter of factly.

“Well, she’s in a Contract with me.”

“Well, I need blood to live and, right now, I prefer Type O.”

“I’m sure Type A would do just fine.”

Ignatius rolled up his sleeve, showing his bare arm to the vampire. “This will do. . . For

now.” Alexander licked his lips and bit into his skin. A red liquid gushed out as Ignatius bit his

lip in pain and disgust.

“Oh, okay then. Keep it PG, boys.” I chuckled.

“S-SHUT UP, WILLOW!” Ignatius pulled his arm away as the blood dripped on the

floor.

“I assure you, that was not my intention.” Alexander wiped his chin, his previously white

sleeve now stained red. “It seems I might’ve drawn a bit too much of his blood.” He chuckled.

The white-haired male suddenly disappeared, reappearing behind Ignatius. The ravenette

collapsed into his arms, his breath quickening. “Holy crap, he’s dead.” I gaped.

“He’s not dead, unfortunately. He has just fainted.” He handed me his unconscious body.

“Well, he’s your Owner, isn’t he? Go do your job.”
