OBJECTIVE

To find and plot equipotential lines and to plot the electrical lines of force for some common charge
configuration.

INTRODUCTION
Wherever there is a chargedbody, there exist an electric field around this charge body. At any point in this
field, it can be described by electric field strength or simply electric field. The electric field strength can
be determined by measuring the electric force acting on one unit charge place at that point. The direction
of the electric field is the direction of the electric force experienced by the unit charge at that point. In this
experiment, equipotential lines are first plotted, then the electric lines of force are plotted perpendicular to
this equipotential lines.

THEORY
If a charge qo is moved through an electric field, work is done on it in most cases since an electric force is
applied while the charge is being displaced according to

W =F . d
If the charge is moved from point A to point B which are separated by a certain distance, the work done
W by the electric force divided by the amount of charge move is defined as the differences between these
two points
Mathematically,
v AB =vB−VA
