RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE COUNTY MAYOR OR COUNTY MAYOR'S DESIGNEE TO EVALUATE THE FEASIBILITY OF EXPANDING VIRGIN TRAINS USA’S (F/K/A BRIGHTLINE) PASSENGER RAIL SERVICE INTO PORTMIAMI; DIRECTING THE COUNTY MAYOR OR COUNTY MAYOR'S DESIGNEE TO COMMENCE DISCUSSIONS WITH VIRGIN TRAINS USA TO IMPLEMENT PASSENGER RAIL SERVICE INTO PORTMIAMI, IF FEASIBLE; AND FURTHER DIRECTING THE COUNTY MAYOR OR COUNTY MAYOR'S DESIGNEE TO PREPARE A WRITTEN REPORT AND PLACE THE WRITTEN REPORT ON AN AGENDA OF THE BOARD IN ACCORDANCE WITH ORDINANCE NO. 14-65 minutes and ftom Fort Lauderdale in 30 minutes; and WHEREAS, Virgin ‘Trains has announced its intention to expand its service to Orlando ~ making it possible for its rail passengers to travel between Orlando and Miami in three hours — and Virgin Trains has, in fact, received some of the approvals necessary to commence this expansion and service; and WHEREAS, there is already rail infrastructure that leads into PortMiami from Virgin ‘Trains’ downtown Miami station, generating the possibility of creating direct passenger rail service into PortMiami via Virgin Trains using already existing rail infrastructure; and
