Ms. Kerley has been only teaching for two years but already has so much experience. I have
known her for two years now and she is an amazing teacher. She teaches sixth grade english
bu has also taught eighth grade english. She choose to be a teacher because she was
influenced by her twelfth grade ap english teacher suggested that she would be a great teacher.
Ms. Kerley got her bachelor's from Texas Tech and she was an english major. Before she truly
started teaching she student taught at a middle school in lubbock and was also a long term sub
which really prepared her to teach full time as a middle school english teacher. She had to have
her bachelor's degree and a content area exam to be able to have her certificate a classroom
teacher 4 - 8. Over the summer she did a professional development training and it was 30
hours of gt training. Her first job was at Wester Middle School as an eighth grade english
teacher and she said that she was very excited and a little apprehensive. Lastly her advice to
new first year teachers is to really have fun with it and to never take work home or you will get
way over your head!
