Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Engagement: This lesson will keep students engaged by letting them interact with their peers
using technology.

Representation: Students will have representation because they will present their powerpoint.

Action and Expression: Students will express in the power point how the 13th, 14th, and 15th
Amendments affected Georgia during reconstruction.

Lesson idea implementation:

For this lesson, I will give the students an overview on what the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments
were. This lesson should take two full class periods. I will do this using the powerpoint I created.
The students will then be divided into three groups. From there the students will be tasked with
researching the ways these amendments affect Georgia during reconstruction using their
textbooks and reliable internet sources. The students will then use their research and make a
power point in which they will present to the class.

I will differentiate the lesson by because the students will learn from the two groups about the
other two amendments. To extend this to higher learning I could also get them to research the
events that led to the passing of these bills. I will conclude this lesson by having them present
their presentations to the class and I will grade their presentations and power points for their
feedback.

Reflective Practice: This assignment can further student learning by giving them and
introduction to the Reconstruction era in Georgia. These amendments basically jumpstarted
that. This will also give students a chance to learn more about the constitution and how
amendments are passed.
