Battery Carrier: Semi-gloss black with appropriate attaching parts. Hold down clamp
mounted correctly, groove fits in carrier, centering tab present. Mounting bolt and nut –
phosphate & oil. 65 through 5S328 have trunk mount battery with vented caps. 65 from
5S328 have standard front mounting as Mustang.

Battery: Autolite. Group 22 or 24 acceptable Div II.


Trunk Mount - must be Group 24 with standard or reverse posts. May have COBRA™
vent caps with rubber vent tubes routed to holes in trunk floor.

Battery Cables and Starter Cable: Routed in original position.


Front Mount - After 5S328 – standard red FoMoCo™ cables with correct Ford ™
stamped numbers and terminal cover.
Trunk Mount – Through 5S328 - positive cable is “00” welding cable routed under car.
Black trunk ground coiled.
Attached with rubber coated clips in the proper location and with correct hardware.
Starter and Ground Cable - Black FoMoCo™ with original mounting bracket. Terminal
end is tin dipped. Cables printed as original. No paper sleeves.

Starter Solenoid and Junction Block: Correct reddish brown (early) or black (later)
FoMoCo™ marked unit, mounted properly, with fine tread posts and thin nuts with
integrated star washers. Mounted on passenger side inner fender panel near the
battery and before shock tower.

Alternator: Mounted with proper hardware.


Alternator: Natural cast aluminum finish. May have no Autolite stamp. With radio
should have radio suppressor at alternator.
Fan, Pulley Nut and Lock Washer: Semi-gloss black or zinc dichromate fan and
pulley. Very late 65 may have blue pulley.
Alternator Spacer: Black anodized steel.

Heater Hose Elbow – painted fully or with overspray.
Semi-Gloss Black Components: Fan, fan pulley, crankshaft pulley, intake bolts,
harmonic balancer, alternator bracket and adjustment arm. Engine motor mount
brackets.

Engine Components to be Aluminum: Engine to frame mount brackets, bell housing,


accelerator linkage (zinc), distributor hold-down bracket, fan spacer, oil pressure sender

treated bolts at heads.
Gaskets: white in color.

Intake Manifold: Aluminum Cobra - S1MS (very early may have no part number).
Gaskets – ends natural cork , side white paper.
Valve Covers: Aluminum, open letter Cobra valve covers. All use cadmium standard
grade 5 bolts with small thick flat washers and lock washers. Fins and lettering are
polished/machined.
Oil Pan: Aluminum Cobra - S1MS. Oil pan bolts, - uses Phillips head screws and hex
head bolts with star washers..
Valve Cover and Oil Pan Gaskets: Black coated cork. Valve covers may be coated top
and bottom surface only.

Carburetor: Proper type for year and engine. #3259 715 CFM Holley.
Distributor and Cap: Proper design and natural finish Non vacuum advance,
FoMoCo™ marked, natural aluminum finish with phosphate & oil clips. Correct for year
and model with correct lead mounted properly.
Cap: Black plastic with #1.

Coil: FoMoCo or Autolite with yellow ceramic top. Mounted in correct location with
correct markings.
Mounting Bracket: semi-gloss black or phosphate and oil.

Wires: FoMoCo Black wires marked SX (steel core non-resistor) or Radio resistance
SX wire. Properly routed with correct attaching wire separators and in correct order.

Rigid Lines: Original configuration and finish with proper attaching parts. All use unique

Export Brace, Monte Carlo Bar and Front Shock Brackets:


Export Brace: One piece painted semi-gloss black with firewall reinforcement welded
and sealed at cowl. Bolts at firewall are equally spaced, flathead standard no-vendor
mark cadmium plated or standard Ford.
Front Shock Upper Bracket: With welded-on washer reinforcement. Painted semi-
gloss black.
Monte Carlo Bar: Painted semi-gloss black. Mounted with phosphate and oil Ford
bolts.

Firewall and Inner Fender Panels: Painted semi-gloss black.

Fender and Inner Fender Bolts: Original color and style. Correct phosphate and oil
finish. Painted bolts not allowed. Star washers, disc washers or combination acceptable.

Firewall Sound Deadener (Sealant): At proper locations on the firewall including all
areas where components come through the firewall, such as wiring and heater motor.
No sealant on Shelby added looms and wires or engine ground strap and mounting
screw.

except at firewall, no toe pad and vinyl strip from floor pan to scuff plate. Vinyl strip is

Kick Panels: Correct style and mounting hardware.

Underdash Area, Pedal Assembly, Firewall Cover and Shifter: Original style and
finish. Mounted in original location.
Pedals: Brake marked DISC BRAKE. Brake/Clutch pedal arms bottom 2/3rds are black,
accelerator pedal arm, phosphate/oil. No stainless trim on pads.
Accelerator Arm: Phosphate and oil.
Shifter: As factory Mustang
Hand Choke: Marked with white C, Mounted correctly under drivers side of dash.

Heater: Original style, proper hardware and finish mounted in original location. Heater
plenum, heater box, controls and ducting. Very early units with no red resistor on case
and/or three wire blower motors.
