Our Communities

Our neighbors support us, and we do our best to give back when our community needs us most.

Environmental, Health & Safety

Protecting the safety, health and well-being of our Subway Corporate employees, and the
independently-owned Franchisee staff, managers and Sandwich ArtistsTM, around the globe is
one of our top priorities. We work in a variety of ways to promote the values of personal health
and safety and ensure our culture reflects these values and objectives through our employee
codes of conduct and operating manuals.

Halal

For more than 50 years, Subway’s mission has been to let customers design their own
sandwiches, and to serve local tastes through a network of independently-owned restaurants.
That hasn’t changed. A limited number of Subway locations across the globe have offered a
Halal menu. We follow the local regulations on menu labeling for Halal products when they are
available.

Human Rights

Subway’s commitment to respecting the human rights of workers throughout our value chain is
articulated through the expectations we set across our Supplier Code of Conduct, Statement on
Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking, and other relevant policies including those on land
rights, deforestation, and sustainable agriculture.

Modern Slavery Eradication

Subway recognizes that the eradication and prevention of modern slavery and human trafficking
is a global challenge that businesses must address through their own operations, local and
global supply chains, and business partners.

Integrity in our operations, products, and supply chains is of the utmost importance. We are
fully committed to working collaboratively across industries to seek eradication of modern
slavery and human trafficking.

This statement addresses the Modern Slavery Act of the United Kingdom and the Transparency
in Supply Chains Act of the U.S. State of California for 2017 and 2018.
Responsible Antibiotic Use

Subway follows the World Health Organization (WHO) classification for antibiotics’ importance
to human medicine. We recognize that antibiotics are critical tools for keeping animals healthy
and that they should be used responsibly to preserve their effectiveness in veterinary and
human medicine. Our policy is that antibiotics can be used to treat, control, and prevent
disease, but not for growth promotion of farm animals.

To date, we have eliminated antibiotics usage in some menu offerings, notably raised–without-
antibiotics chicken in the US. Supply of turkey, pork and beef products from animals raised
without antibiotics in the US is limited. We expect our transition to take place over time - with
turkey targeted for 2019 and pork and beef targeted for 2025.

While bringing our protein supply chain to meet the WHO guidelines is the basis for our
priorities, and available supply chains in some countries are more advanced than others, we
also have additional work underway to meet customer desires in some markets to go beyond
responsible use only and to be served protein with a raised without antibiotic profile.

Responsible Research

Subway's research processes and those of our partners are confidential for competitive reasons.
However, Subway does not conduct or fund research – including research funded by Subway but
performed by third parties – that utilizes any cloned organisms. Furthermore, any meat, dairy,
poultry, fish or egg derived from a cloned animal, including subsequent generations, must not
be used in Subway menu offerings.
