CHAPTER II

METHODOLOGY

1. Research Design

The comparative design is divided into two parts. The first part is making the Okra

moisturizer. The product will be tested in a laboratory to measure its content of

moisturizing factors. The second part of the research design is the comparison of the

results of the laboratory test(Okra moisturizer’s moisturizing factors) to the content of

moisturizing factors of the Aloe vera moisturizer.

2. Materials

 750 grams of Okra(Abelmoschos esculentus)

 2 tsp of Citric acid

 500 ml cosmetic container

3. Procedure

Collection

The researchers bought Okra pods in local markets. They were able to buy 500

grams of Okra pods.

Procedure

The first step in making the product is by washing the prepared Okra pods. Next is

the boiling of the pods for 3-4 minutes and letting them rest for another 2 minutes. After

that, the researchers peeled the Okra’s skin and the pods were mashed. Then they added

the citric acid that served as the preservative of the product. The final product was

stored in a sterilized cosmetic jar.

4. Testing

The Okra moisturizer will be tested in a laboratory to determine its content of

moisturizing agents. The results will be compared to Aloe vera moisturizers by means of

a t-test to see if there are significant differences between the two products.
