The learners started their musical journey with comparing the contrast between various elements of

music like Pitch, Rhythm, Tempo, Dynamics and Form. They learnt reading the notes played on various
parts of drums in different note values on the percussion clef. They identified and followed the 2/4, 3/4
and common time signatures in variable tempi. They developed their musical vocabulary where they
started using musical terms in the discussions and conversations about the rhythmic pieces. The
students practiced several hand coordination exercises along with foot movement on drums which
included basic rhythm patterns played together on drum as solo. Later, we had a discussion on world
music and shared views of their understanding of the same. The students experienced playing the
rhythm for National Anthem. They also performed the marching beat in various programs in school. In
addition, they also explored the music of Yanni specifically- Nostalgia and the Mission Impossible theme
which they performed in Anandam.
