Overview Functions — Models
The toolbox implements a simple (Timoshenko) beam wit igi disks. The model computes the eigenvectos (modes) at various speeds of
rotation incorporating various efcts tke gyroscopics, stress of bearings.
The resuls are presented using 24 and 3d graphics.
Please use ths package for educational purposes only, | donot support industries (with hs free code) and do not support ministries of ‘energy’
anywhere.
‘Students are welcome lo ask questions and Iwill do my best to help beginners resoarching rotordynamics.
Please donot send long assignments to me because this would mean | wil have les time to ide my mauntain bike,
This sofware package was wrtlan mostly during the summers of 1995, 1998 (and some bugs are thus 10 years old :-)
Do not despair! Some pars work corracly ane the graphics is reasonably nice | use the package myself during teaching (rotordynamic).
More seriously | get occasional requests to send his package to people woréwide therefore | have decided lo ut itback onto the Mathworks
It would be nie tobe acknowledged (even by an email) when you create nice graphicsiresult/publcation etc, wih this package.
Instructions
1) Unpack the package, maintain directory structure
2) od to otfe25x in Matlab
3) ype rtfin in Matlab) to ad all the underoath directory tothe path
4)run the demo (slow) by typing demo_rotfe
5) run the torsional vibration demo (somewhat incomplete, sory} -ts_rotanym
68) edit an example model, eg. simpleds.m, runt using
‘8, modeplet2simpleds (use buttons to compte and manipulate csplay)

In what units should the stress and unbalance by defined in, in RalFE. The units fer in dliferent documentations.

code example fles, the comments on spring elements describe the unt of spring sifness as kg,
