Cambridge University Admissions Visit

Friday 18th June 2010
I am pleased to offer students an opportunity to visit Cambridge on Friday 18th June. Sidney
Sussex College have kindly agreed to host us, providing a talk from the admissions director,
college tour, question and answer sessions with current students, and lunch in college. This
should provide students with an excellent opportunity to get their questions answered from
people who assess Cambridge applications, as well as those experiencing life in Cambridge at
the moment! We would envisage there would be little need to go to both this and the formal
Cambridge open days as this should offer a more personalised experience.

As well as the main visit to Sidney Sussex we will take a tour of some of the other Cambridge
colleges and there is the possibility that we can arrange some sample lectures or subject tasters
dependent on student interest.

We will travel to and from Cambridge by coach. We will leave from the Creffield Road entrance
to the school at 8.00 a.m., returning there by 5.45 p.m. Those students attending will each be
emailed a full programme for the day nearer the time.

The cost to each student is £15, payable as a voluntary contribution. Whilst there is no
obligation to pay, the trip is unlikely to go ahead if all costs cannot be met by contributions. If
students wish to attend, please fill in the form attached to this letter and return it to school by
Wednesday 9th June. We can offer places to 40 students and in the event that the trip is
oversubscribed we will offer places on a first come first served basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for students to get ahead in the Cambridge admissions process
and we are very fortunate that Sidney Sussex are able to facilitate our visit. I hope students will
find the visit of value in making decisions about their university application.
