Q-1 Describe the role of a manager.
Ans-1 Manager is -someone who coordinates and oversees the work of other people so that
organizational goals can be accomplished. An effective manager is one whose organizational
unit, group, or team consistently achieves it. Managers coordinate work activities to achieve
organizational goals. Their ability to act is affected by both the internal culture of the
organization and the constraints of the external environment – including the global environment.
They also deal with complicated ethical and social responsibility issues as they plan, organize,
lead and control.
Q-2 What are different types of manager?
Ans-2 Different types of managers can be broadly catagorized levelwise as the following
categories.
• First-line Managers-Managers at the lowest level manage the work of non-managerial
employees directly or indirectly involved with the production or creation of the organization’s
products.
• Middle Managers-Managers between the first-line level and the top level of the organization
who manage the work of first-line managers
• Top Managers-Managers at or near the top level are responsible for making organization-wide
decisions and establishing plans and goals affecting the entire organization

Q-3 What is Management?


Ans-3 Management is coordinating work activities so that they are done efficiently and
effectively.
In the words of Henry Fayol – “To manage is to forecast and to plan, to organize, to command,
to co-ordinate and to control.”(1949)
According to Peter F. Drucker – “Management is a multi-purpose organ that manages a
business and managers and manages worker and work”.(1970)
In the words of Koontz and O’Donnel – “Management is defined as the creation and
maintenance of an internal environment in an enterprise where individuals working together in
groups can perform efficiently and effectively towards the attainment of group goals”. (1972).

Q-4 What are the different functions in Management Process?
Ans-4 Different functions in a management process are :
1. Planning- Defining goals, establishing strategies to achieve goals, developing plans to
integrate and coordinate activities.
2. Organizing- Arranging and structuring work to accomplish organizational goals.
3. Leading- Working with and through people to accomplish goals.
4. Controlling- Monitoring, comparing, and correcting work.

Q-5 What are the different steps in organization process?


Ans- 5 The steps in the organizing process include:
1. Review plans
2. List all tasks to be accomplished
3. Divide tasks into groups one person can accomplish - a job
4. Group related jobs together in a logical and efficient manner
5. Assign work to individuals
6. Delegate authority to establish relationships between jobs and groups of jobs

Q-5 Name the different types of Control.


Ans-5 Controls are most effective when they are applied at key places.
Feed forward controls focus on operations before they begin.
Concurrent controls apply to processes as they are happening.
Feedback controls after the process ceases.
Q.6 What are the Managerial roles according to Mintzberg?
Ans-6 According to Mintzberg (1973), managerial roles are as follows:
1. Informational roles
2. Decisional roles
3. Interpersonal roles
Q-7 What is SWOT Analysis? Ans-7 SWOT analysis is a simple framework for
generating strategic alternatives from a situation analysis. It is applicable to either
the corporate level or the business unit level and frequently appears in marketing
plans. SWOT (sometimes referred to as TOWS) stands for Strengths, Weaknesses,
Opportunities, and Threats. The SWOT framework was described in the late 1960’s
by Edmund P. Learned, C. Roland Christiansen, Kenneth Andrews, and William
D.Guth.
