NHS Meeting Minutes 2/12/19

● Dues must be paid by induction (3/14) or you don’t meet the graduation requirements to

graduate as an NHS member

● Hours Submissions

○ Need 15 hours with a minimum of 5 through NHS in order to graduate as an NHS

member

○ For personal hours, make sure to submit a description of the activity with a

signature from the event sponsor to Mr. George or to the board

● Relay For Life will have its first meeting on 2/19 to discuss fundraising opportunities

● Inductions are March 14th at 6 PM

○ Attendance is mandatory to both the ceremony and the meeting the day before

(Wednesday 3/13)

○ Show up at 4:30 for practice and food

○ Any questions should go to Mr. George

● Application for new NHS members is 2/25

● Flower Update

○ Yellow flowers will be Black-Eyed Susans (MD State flower)

○ No such thing as green flowers-- bushes instead-- more expensive-- need

fundraising

○ Talk to the board if you have any gardening knowledge

● Food will be needed for the induction ceremony

○ Signups for food will be available in Mr. George’s room starting 2/13
● Volunteer Opportunities

○ Robotics competition-- in the cafeteria 2/15-2/16; talk to Mr. Skinner for more

info

○ Bake Sale next Friday (2/22); hours available for both selling and baking

○ Friends of the Library Book Sale 3/23-25, 3/29, 4/1-- show up to the event and

sign up (Nick Ashenfelter’s mom has more info)

○ LPES opportunity at the Church of the Ascension on Tuesdays and Thursdays--

talk to Mr. George or Celia Engel (Mr. George can give the phone number)
