Both the reading and the listening passages present information about The International style also

known as the Bauhaus style and it’s characteristics which promote simplicity.

According to the lecture, the idea of ’’form follows function’’ is sometime taken to the extreme. As a
result glass box is becoming overwhelming and boring. However as we saw in the reading section,
others think that this kind of buildings constructed in Bauhaus’s style have simplicity and elegance.

Secondly The International style exploded into an abuse of cheap imitations leading to a city with an
uninspiring architecture because there is too many of similar buildings, moreover modern masters
consider that less is a bore ,making the construction to become unfriendly. For all that, there are still
humans who consider that this style succeeded in reshaping the city. The international style becoming
one of the most significant movements in history .

In conclusion there are two main points of view ,one is that the International style should be used by
true professionals otherwise the buildings will look ugly and uninspiring and the second opinion is that
the International style has modernized our century.
