READING BUDDIES

The reading buddies is a program setup by Mrs Mandale


(Head of English and Literacy in YBB). It is where the year 9
students go to the primary school and read books with the
year 3-4 kids. The younger pupils listen ask questions to the
reader. They go down every Monday and Thursday.
Here are the opinions of some of the pupils involved.
Shauna.
We asked 5 questions and she answered
1. What is it like?
It’s alright. I like helping younger pupils
2. Why did you sign up
I wanted to do some volunteer and help kids.
3. How do you read the books?
The kids are levelled on the stage of work they do
4. Where do you do it?
Down the lower school, in the first class room
5. Who set it up?
Mrs Mandale, put it all together
6. How have they improved?
Their confidence has improved; they were shy at first

I’m really enjoying it.

He found it difficult at first. He is stage 14 now but
should go to a more difficult level
