Andre the Giant
André the Giant (May 19, 1946 – January 27, 1993) was a professional wrestler
and actor, born André René Roussimoff in Grenoble, France. His great size was
a result of acromegaly, or excessive growth hormone, and led to him being
dubbed "The Eighth Wonder of the World."

He was one of the WWF's most beloved "babyfaces" throughout the 1970s and
early '80s, and for 14 years never lost by pinfall or submission in a WWF ring,
before being pinned by Hulk Hogan on March 29, 1987 at WrestleMania III.
Roussimoff had lost clean in matches outside of the parameters of the WWF; a
pinfall loss in Mexico to El Canek in 1984, and in Japan, a submission loss to
Antonio Inoki in 1986. He also went 60-minute time limit draws with the two
other major world champions of the day, Harley Race and Nick Bockwinkel.

Roussimoff had memorable clashes all over the world with a variety of tough,
rugged opponents. Among his chief rivals in the ring: The Sheik (who gained a
deathmatch win over the Frenchman in 1974 with the help of his fireball),
Abdullah the Butcher, Stan Hansen, Ernie Ladd, and a young Hulk Hogan, who
first met Roussimoff in 1978 during his rookie years in the deep South. Hogan
and André would go on to have one of the great WWF feuds of 1980, peaking in front of 36,295 fans at the
Showdown At Shea event, on August 9, 1980 in Flushing, New York's Shea Stadium.

Kurt Angle
Kurt Steven Angle (born in December 9, 1968 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American 1996
Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling and now a professional
wrestler performing for World Wrestling Entertainment on its RAW
brand. Among his trademarks is the audience--whether he is face or
heel--chanting "you suck!" in time with his entrance music.

Angle defeated The Rock at No Mercy in October 2000 to win the

WWF Championship. His title reign was impressive, defeating The
Undertaker at Survivor Series (with some help from older brother Eric
Angle) and eventually winning the 6-Man Hell in a Cell at
Armageddon. His victory at Armaggedon was regardly known as the
greatest title defense ever, defeating the greatest of the World
Wrestling Federation, The Rock, Triple H, Stone Cold Steve Austin,
The Undertaker, and Rikishi. He held the WWF Title for four months
before losing it to the man he defeated for the title, The Rock.

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin
Steve Williams (born December 18, 1964), better known by his stage name "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, is a
professional wrestler from Victoria, Texas. His birth name was Stephen James Anderson; he took on the surname
Williams when he was adopted by his stepfather (his biological father had left the family when he was a small
child).

As Steve Austin, he is best known for establishing the "anti-authority" face and
"Boss vs. Employee" storyline, which has been used in some variation by
numerous wrestlers like The Rock and John Cena. Traditionally, faces in wrestling
were known as clean cut, respectable role models, and rebellious characters who
bent the rules were labeled as heels. Austin effectively changed the whole
dynamic of the face/heel struture in wrestling forever.

Austin went on to win his first WWF Championship in March 1998, defeating
Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XIV in Boston. Mike Tyson served as special
guest referee for their contest and photographs of Austin & Tyson celebrating
together after the bout made newspapers worldwide. By now, Austin's authority-
challenging, beer-swilling everyman persona was firmly over with the fans, who
loudly lapped up every middle finger, swear word and catchphrase, including
"Hell Yeah!" and "Cause Stone Cold Said So!"

The next night on RAW, Vince McMahon offered to work with Stone Cold, but
only if Austin would agree to do things "his way." Austin refused, giving McMahon the Stone Cold Stunner and
thereby choosing to do things "the hard way." The feud built over the next few weeks until finally McMahon
challenged Austin to a match on RAW that ended in a disqualification due to interference from Dude Love. The
Austin vs. McMahon match resulted in the first
ratings victory by the WWF in the Monday Night
Wars against WCW in 84 weeks

Bob Backlund
Bob Backlund (born August 14, 1950) is an American professional
wrestler and minor politician.

Backlund was an amateur wrestler at North Dakota State

University, winning the Division II NCAA Championship at 190
pounds in 1971. Backlund joined the WWWF and became the
World Champion on February 20, 1978 defeating "Superstar" Billy
Graham in New York City's Madison Square Garden. According to
Wrestling Observer Newsletter editor Dave Meltzer, Backlund was
picked to be champion by Vincent J. McMahon, who was looking
for a younger version of Jack Brisco. Backlund was recommended
to McMahon by Eddie Graham and Sam Muchnick. Over a near
six-year period, Backlund held the title on three occasions, and
defeated some of the most notorious heels in the sport, ranging from
Pat Patterson to Don Muraco to Greg Valentine. On November 30,
1979, Backlund was defeated for the championship by Antonio
Inoki in Tokushima, Japan. The loss to Inoki has never been acknowledged by the WWF. Backlund's steel
cage match against Jimmy Snuka on June 28, 1982 in Madison Square Garden is considered a classic to
this day. Also of note were his title vs. title
bouts against AWA World Champion Nick
Bockwinkel and NWA World Champions
Harley Race and Ric Flair. Backlund's no-

Superstar Billy Graham
Eldridge Wayne Coleman, better known by his stage name 'Superstar' Billy Graham (born September
10, 1943), is an American professional wrestler. He selected his ring
name as a tribute to the famous evangelist Billy Graham, at one of
whose revival meetings Coleman converted to Christianity. He was
one of the first pro wrestlers to become popular based primarily on
his charisma, paving the way for wrestlers like Jesse Ventura, Scott
Steiner, and particularly Hulk Hogan to do the same years later with
ring personnae heavily influenced by the two distinct phases of
Graham's career.

A former football player and bodybuilder, Graham defeated Bruno

Sammartino for the WWF Championship on April 30, 1977, and lost
the title to Bob Backlund on February 20, 1978. He would return to
the World Wrestling Federation in 1982 with an entirely new look:
gone were the long bleached-blonde locks and colorful clothes; now
replaced with a bald head, all-black outfit, deep suntan, and a
newfound knowledge of the martial arts.

Again, Graham would unsuccessfully challenge Backlund, but in one memorable incident he would
destroy Backlund's championship belt ringside while Backlund wrestled.

Bobo Brazil
Houston Harris (July 10, 1924 in Little Rock, Arkansas — January 20, 1998), known professionally as Bobo
Brazil, was an African-American professional wrestler who was known for breaking down barriers of racial
segregation in professional wrestling. He was a favorite of not only
African-American wrestling fans, but of fans of any race, creed or color.
Bobo Brazil is regarded as the first successful African-American
professional wrestler, he is often referred to as "the Jackie Robinson of
professional wrestling."

In his wrestling career, Brazil had many classic matches with

competitors such as Killer Kowalski, Dick the Bruiser, Johnny
Valentine, and most famously, The Sheik, who feuded with Bobo over
the course of several decades. These and other famous rivals would all
fall victim to Brazil's finishing maneuver of choice, the Coco Butt.
Brazil also once wrestled Andre the Giant to a draw, and challenged
Bruno Sammartino for the WWWF Championship in a rare battle of two
top babyface competitors.

Bobo Brazil was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1994. He
passed away on January 20, 1998 at age 74.

Bret “The Hitman” Hart
Bret Sergeant Hart (born July 2, 1957 in Calgary, Alberta) is a Canadian former professional wrestler,
and part of the famous Hart wrestling family. In the course of his
career, he was known by several monikers: Bret "The Hitman"
Hart, "The Excellence of Execution" (originally dubbed as such by
the late Gorilla Monsoon) and perhaps the most resounding, "The best
there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be."

Hart's appearance was highlighted by his wrap-around mirrored

sunglasses and leather jacket. Hart originally began wearing mirrored
sunglasses to hide his eyes, which belayed his nervousness. He is still
regarded by many as one of the most technically sound professional
wrestlers ever to grace a ring. He was once labeled by Vince
McMahon as the 'greatest storyteller in the business' and was adept at
creating tense and entertaining matches.

William Richard Afflis (27 June 1929-10 November 1991) was an American professional wrestler best
known as Dick The Bruiser.

Born in Lafayette, Indiana, Afflis grew up in Indianapolis and

graduated from Shortridge High School. Afflis was a football
player in college at Purdue University, and played for the Green
Bay Packers in the early 50's as a lineman before he became a pro
wrestler.

Afflis would later become the boss of an Indiana wrestling

territory and promoted himself as its champion. His WWA
territory lasted from 1964 into the mid-late 80's

Afflis died in 1991 of a hemorrhaging of his throat, which was

Bruno Sammartino
Bruno Laopardo Franceso Sammartino (born October 6, 1936 in Abruzzo, Italy), is a former
professional wrestler. As a child he and his family hid in caves from German soldiers during the latter
stages of World War II; around 1951 he came to the United States, settling in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

"The Italian Strongman" has often been called the "Living

Legend" of professional wrestling and is considered one of the
greatest performers professional wrestling has ever known.
Sammartino started wrestling in 1959, and won his first world
championship on May 17, 1963, defeating "Nature Boy" Buddy
Rogers in just 48 seconds. He held the WWWF Title twice,
keeping it first for an incredible seven years, eight months, and
one day. Bruno's first reign still stands as the longest continuous
world title reign in wrestling history. His second title reign
lasted over three years. He was the reigning champion and
perhaps the most popular wrestler in the Northeastern United
States during the 1960s and 1970s. He headlined cards that
filled Madison Square Garden on a monthly basis, and over 200
times overall, the most of any individual. He battled the top
heels of his time, including Killer Kowalski, Gorilla Monsoon,
George "The Animal" Steele and Superstar Billy Graham. In
between his two title runs, on September
30, 1972, Sammartino battled then-
titleholder Pedro Morales to an over one-

“Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers
"Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers (Born Herman C. Rohde Jr. but later legally changed his name to Buddy
Rogers) was a professional wrestler and one of the biggest stars in
the beginning of the Television Era.

With the advent of television, Rogers' flashy look, great physique

and bombastic personality instantly caught the ire of audiences. The
first sign of Rogers' impact was his involvement in Sam Muchnick's
opposition promotion in St. Louis, Missouri, a major wrestling
market at the time. He was pitted against the well respected Lou
Thesz as a draw. In the end, Muchnick's promotion was powerful
enough with Buddy Rogers as its main star that the two promotions
merged. Rogers continued control of the Midwest as a booker and
wrestler, most notably in Chicago, frequently selling out the 11,000
seat arena. In the 1950's, Rogers also expanded into Vince
McMahon Sr.'s Capitol Wrestling Corporation.

Rogers was not well liked during his prime years because he had a
habit of taking advantage of opponents in the ring. With age he
mellowed and became a very respected veteran. Rogers was considered the first total package wrestler.
He had all the looks, physique, personality and ability promoters wanted. He is often attributed with
developing the psychology that several heels
went on to use with great success and inventing "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers F / H
the "Figure Four Grapevine" (later renamed the
Figure-Four Leglock). He had one of the Primary Finisher- Figure Four Grapevine

King Kong Bundy
Chris Pallies (born November 7, 1957 in Atlantic City, New Jersey) is an American professional
wrestler, better known as King Kong Bundy. Weighing upwards of
450 pounds in his heyday, King Kong Bundy was an imposing – if
somewhat cartoonish – grappler. With pale skin and a completely
hairless body, he was often compared to the Michelin Man, and the
contrast of his light complexion with his usual jet black singlet led
color commentator Bobby "The Brain" Heenan to dub him "Shamu".

Bundy is best known for his appearances in the World Wrestling

Federation in 1986, when he feuded with WWF World Heavyweight
Champion Hulk Hogan. At this time, he became known for his
tendency to ask the referee for a five count (as opposed to the usual
three count for pinfalls) whenever he dominated his opponent in a
squash match. He is also remembered for winning the shortest match
in Wrestlemania history, when he mauled S.D. "Special Delivery"
Jones in what was announced as only nine seconds at Wrestlemania I.
(The actual time clocks in at 23 seconds from bell to bell, which is
still a record.)

“Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase
Theodore Marvin DiBiase, better known as Ted DiBiase or The Million-Dollar Man (born on January 18, 1954
in Omaha, Nebraska) is a former professional wrestler, and a Christian
minister.

Arguably the best wrestler to never hold a major World Heavyweight title,
DiBiase still had one of the most illustrious careers in professional wrestling.

In the WWF, DiBiase became one of the most hated heels of all time. He was
known as the "Million Dollar Man," a wealthy millionaire gimmick which
included the wearing of a gold studded suit and a custom 'Million Dollar Belt'
around his waist when entering the ring. He claimed "everybody has a price"
and made it his goal to acquire the WWF Championship by buying it if he
must. He frequently traveled around in limousines and gave $100 tips to
waiters in restaurants. He also invited fans (including a young Rob Van Dam)
into the ring or to the stage (platform where they did interview segments) to
perform humiliating acts (such as kissing his feet) for money. One of the more
infamous of these humilating acts was when he invited a kid onto a stage and
told him if he bounced a ball fifteen times in succession, DiBiase would pay
him lots of cash. After the fourteenth bounce, DiBiase kicked the ball away and
the kid went home broke (In reality, the kid was preselected and was paid for doing the sketch). He acquired a
bodyguard, Virgil, who eventually grew tired of DiBiase's abuse and made an inspirational breach of services at the
1991 Royal Rumble.

Ric Flair
Richard Morgan Fliehr (born February 25, 1949 in Memphis, Tennessee), better known by his stage
name "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, is an American professional wrestler
currently with WWE on its RAW brand, and is currently its
Intercontinental Champion for his first ever reign. He has been one of
the leading personalities in professional wrestling since the mid 1970s
and is considered to be among the elite names in the history of the
industry.

Throughout the 1980s Flair became affiliated with The Four

Horsemen stable.. Flair's main rivals for the NWA title were Dusty
Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, Lex Luger, and Sting. Flair also feuded
with Magnum T.A., Nikita Koloff, Ricky Morton of the Rock 'N Roll
Express, and Kerry von Erich, among countless others. He was
constantly seen with various valets such as Woman, Miss Elizabeth,
Fifi, Sherri Martel and Baby Doll.

Since the late 70s, he has worn ornate, fur lined robes of many colors
with sequins, and since the mid 80s, his approach to the ring was often
heralded by the playing of the Richard Strauss composition Also sprach Zarathustra (the theme of the
film 2001: A Space Odyssey). The look and sound complements his cocky in-ring persona.

Mick Foley
Michael Francis "Mick" Foley (born June 7, 1965) is an American
professional wrestler and author. He has wrestled under a wide variety of
pseudonyms, most famously Cactus Jack, Mankind and Dude Love.

Foley, who became a professional wrestler in 1983, was noted for his hardcore
matches, which frequently left him injured. These injuries included eight
concussions, part of his ear being ripped off, and over 300 stitches. While he is
self-admittedly not one of the most physically-gifted wrestlers of all-time,
Foley gained notoriety for his thoughtful and intense promos, in-ring tenacity,
and willingness to put his body on the line for many dangerous spots. He was
also known for having three distinct gimmicks as a wrestler: Cactus Jack, a
maniacal and bloodthirsty Western outlaw, Mankind, a tortured soul who hid
behind a leather mask and inflicted pain on others to ease his memories of his
dark past, and Dude Love, a swinging "hip cat" and weenie. In addition to
these, he occasionally also wrestled as "Mick Foley."

He achieved his highest success, however, in the World Wrestling Federation

(WWF) as Mankind, arriving in 1996 and winning the WWF Championship
on an episode of RAW which aired on January 4th, 1999.

Gorilla Monsoon
Robert Otto Marella (June 4, 1937 – October 6, 1999), better known by his stage name of Gorilla Monsoon, was
an American professional wrestler, play-by-play announcer, and booker. He is a legend in the business, famous for
his run as one of the great super-heavyweights, and later as the voice of the
World Wrestling Federation as announcer, on-screen President, and
backstage manager during the 1980s and 1990s. In professional wrestling, the
staging area just behind the entrance curtain at an event, a position which
Marella established and where he could often be found during WWF shows late
in his career, is named the Gorilla Position in his honor.

In 1963, Vincent J. McMahon reformed the Capitol Wrestling Corporation into

the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) (currently known as World
Wrestling Entertainment), breaking his territory away from the National
Wrestling Alliance in an attempt to create a new national powerhouse. At the
time, the WWWF was the dominant wrestling promotion in the Northeast U.S.
Marella formed a friendship with McMahon, and became a 1/6th shareholder in
the WWWF, controlling bookings in several WWWF territories. He also
became one of the promotion's top heels, feuding with popular babyface
champion Bruno Sammartino in sellout arenas across the country. Despite his
huge size, which was now in excess of 400 pounds, Monsoon had great agility
and stamina, often wrestling Sammartino to one-hour time-limit draws. He also
feuded with the legendary André the Giant.

Greg “The Hammer” Valentine
Gregory Lee (born September 10, 1951 in Seattle, Washington) is an
American professional wrestler, better known as Greg "The Hammer"
Valentine. He is the son of wrestling legend Johnny Valentine.

Greg Valentine was known and respected for his stamina and consistently
stiff wrestling style. He and "Nature Boy" Ric Flair perpetuated the
tradition of wearing glamorous robes to the ring, much like previous
generations of wrestlers such as "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers and Gorgeous
George had. He has held multiple titles in both the NWA and the WWF, the
two largest promotions of the 1980s and 1990s, and appeared on both the

major wrestling promotions, including the NWA, the American Wrestling

Honky Tonk Man
Roy Wayne Farris (born January 25, 1953 in Arizona) is a professional wrestler, better known as The Honky
Tonk Man. Currently working on the independent circuit, he has previously worked for the National Wrestling
Alliance and the World Wrestling Federation. In an Internet poll, patrons of
WWE.com named him "the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time".

The Honky Tonk Man won the WWF Intercontinental Championship from
Ricky Steamboat in 1987 and held it for over a year. He is the self-professed
"greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time" due to his record fifteen
month title reign; this claim was supported by a poll of fans conducted by
the WWF.

Honky lost the Intercontinental Championship to Ultimate Warrior in a

squash match. After losing the Intercontinental belt, Honky formed a short-
lived tag team called Rhythm & Blues with Greg Valentine. The two
performed at WrestleMania VI.

Hulk Hogan
Terrence Gene Bollea, best known as Hulk Hogan and Hollywood Hogan (born August 11, 1953 in Augusta, Georgia), is
an American professional wrestler and actor. He is currently the star of the VH1 reality
show Hogan Knows Best and also makes occasional appearances for World Wrestling
Entertainment on the RAW brand.

During his 1980s heyday wrestling for the World Wrestling Federation as the
wholesome babyface character 'Hulk Hogan', Terry Bollea became one of the highest-
drawing, most popular wrestlers in the history of the business. After flagging popularity,
a steroid scandal, 'retirements' and lawsuits damaged his momentum in the 1990s, he
jumped ship to the WWF's then-rival, World Championship Wrestling.

He later turned heel and became a sneering bad guy in July 1996, re-energizing and
redefining his career as the greedy and manipulative villain Hollywood Hogan,
eventually returning to face status and the WWE. During his long career, he appeared
and starred in several movies and TV shows, and now busies himself with occasional
World Wrestling Entertainment appearances and the management of the music career of
his daughter, Brooke Hogan.

Hogan is now officially recognized as a fourteen-time World Heavyweight Champion,

since his two American Wrestling Association title reigns were recently validated. His
loyal fans are referred to as "Hulkamaniacs."

Iron Sheik
Hossein Khosrow Vaziri, born on March 15, 1943 in Tehran, Iran, is an
Iranian professional wrestler better known by his stage name The Iron Sheik.

Politics entered the sport of wrestling with the Iron Sheik. The onetime
bodyguard for the Shah of Iran was discovered at the 1972 Olympics by
AWA promoter Verne Gagne. (Although he was billed as having been a 1968
Olympic medalist, this is untrue.) Known as The Great Hossein, he won his
first title, the Canadian Tag Team Championship, with partner the Texas
Outlaw.

This victory caught the eye of the WWF where he debuted in 1979 and won
the first-ever Battle Royal in Madison Square Garden, earning him a title shot
at then-champion Bob Backlund, who pinned him later that night in a 30-
minute battle. Arguably the best remembered transitional champion in pro
wrestling history, the Iron Sheik returned to the WWF in 1983 and challenged
Backlund once again, defeating him on December 26, 1983 for the World
Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship.

One of the greatest legitimate wrestlers to ever hold a World title, Vaziri dropped the belt just four weeks later to
Hulk Hogan and went on to team with Nikolai Volkoff and win the Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania I.

JYD died June 2, 1998, in a single-car accident on Interstate 20 near

The legendary Wladek (Walter) "Killer" Kowalski wrestled over 6,000 bouts from 1947 to 1973 in a

intimidating Kowalski stood a good deal taller than most of his
opponents and was known for a mean, unrelenting attack on any and

He was on the first ever televised wrestling program in Canada,

and with his easy-to-remember moniker he benefited from the
first wave of televised wrestling popularity in the 1950s. He

“Big Cat” Ernie Ladd
"Big Cat" Ernie Ladd (born 1939) was an American college and professional football player and a professional
wrestler.

Ladd started wrestling in 1965. As a publicity stunt, some wrestlers in the San
Diego area challenged Ladd to a private wrestling workout. Before long, Ladd
was a part-time competitor in Los Angeles, during football's off-season. Ladd
became a huge draw in short order. Ladd became one of wrestling's most hated
heels during the 1970's, as well as one of the first African-American wrestlers
to portray a heel character. In addition to riling crowds with his arrogant and
colorful demeanor during interviews, Ladd also gained infamy through use of
his controversial taped thumb, which Ladd claimed was from an old football
injury. Often, when Ladd appeared to be in serious trouble during a match, he'd
walk out of the arena and accept a countout loss. This practice has since
become known as "pulling an Ernie Ladd" in some circles.

In 1968, Ladd debuted in the World Wide Wrestling Federation, where he

would become a mainstay until 1980. Ladd was managed by The Grand Wizard
of Wrestling for much of the 1970's, and provided WWWF Champions Bruno
Sammartino, Pedro Morales and Bob Backlund some of the toughest challenges
of their respective title reigns. Known for his immense size and power, it was a natural for Ladd to engage in feuds
with other giants. His feud with Andre the Giant (who Ladd would refer to as "Andre the Dummy" during
interviews) was one of the most talked-about of the
decade.

“Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff
Paul Martin started wrestling in 1976 as "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff. He
wrestled in Mid-Southern Wrestling where he feuded with Jerry Lawler.

He next went to Mid-South Wrestling where he feuded with Ernie Ladd.

He made a name for himself in the early 1980's in the National Wrestling
Alliance where he feuded with Masked Superstar and won the NWA National
Heavyweight Title three times.

In 1985, he wrestled in the WWF where he teamed with Roddy Piper and Bob
Orton, Jr. to feud with Hulk Hogan. He was part of the main event at
Wrestlemania I on March 31, 1985 where he teamed with Piper and lost to
Hogan and Mr. T.

Piper and Orton soon broke away from Orndorff, and he followed by teaming
with former adversary Hogan. They continued to team till mid-1986 when
continued rifts, in part with Adrian Adonis trying to stir dissention, caused to
team to split, by Orndorff turning heel again after a tag match with Hogan against King Kong Bundy and Big John
Studd by clotheslining Hogan and then giving him Orndorff's signature piledriver.

He soon teamed with Manager Bobby Heenan to go

after Hogan but still could not defeat him. Their
half-year long feud is one of the most notable feuds Paul Orndorff F/H

Antonio “Argentina” Rocca
Antonino Rocca (born Antonino Biasetton) was a professional wrestler from Argentina of Italian
descent. He was an enormously popular "good guy" with both Italian-American and Hispanic audiences.
He was known for his exceptional physique and conditioning and his love of opera.

Antonino "Argentina" Rocca is perhaps one of the most

influential performers the "sport" of professional wrestling has
ever known, and a legitimate trailblazer in the genre of the
"high flying" wrestler. In addition to his revolutionary wrestling
technique, Rocca was also one of the biggest box office draws
the business has ever known. At the height of his fame, Rocca
was one of the most recognizable sports figures in any sport, not
just pro wrestling. Antonino (who also went by the name
Antonio) Rocca was one of the key figures during the explosion
of popularity wrestling received following the advent of
television, and is a true "Golden Age" legend who influenced
generations of wrestlers to come...

In 1995, the World Wrestling Federation inducted Antonio

The Rock
Dwayne Douglas Johnson (born May 2, 1972 in Hayward, California), better known by his stage name
The Rock, is an American actor and former professional wrestler.

Along with his father and grandfather (Rocky Johnson

and High Chief Peter Maivia), several members of Johnson's family
are current and former professional wrestlers, including his uncles,
the Wild Samoans (Afa and Sika Anoai), and cousins such as the
late former WWF Champion Yokozuna and former WWF Tag
Team Champion Rikishi. When he declared his intention to join the
family business to his father, the elder Johnson resisted, but agreed
to train his son himself, warning him that he would not go easy on
him. With help from former WWE executive and veteran wrestler
Pat Patterson, Johnson secured a tryout with the WWF. Impressed
by his talent and charisma, he was signed to a WWF deal after a
short stint for "seasoning" in Jerry Lawler's USWA, where he
wrestled under the stage names of Flex Kavana and Pidlaoan
Rock.

Johnson's popularity as The Rock propelled him to the WWF Championship at the 1998 Survivor Series
at age 26. At the time, he was the youngest

Rick Rude
Richard Erwin Rood, better known by his stage name of "Ravishing" Rick Rude (December 7, 1958 – April 20,
1999) was a professional wrestler who performed for many promotions, most
notably World Championship Wrestling and the World Wrestling Federation,
in the 1980s and 1990s.

In the WWF, Rude was managed by Bobby Heenan and feuded with Paul
Orndorff before starting one of his most famous feuds with Jake "the Snake"
Roberts. Rude had a routine where he would kiss a girl (that Heenan picked
from the fans) all the way down to the mat. He tried to get Roberts' wife,
Cheryl, to comply, aggravating Roberts. On one memorable occasion, Rude
came to the ring with a picture of Cheryl stenciled on the front of his tights. A
furious Roberts charged the ring and stripped Rude, appearing to leave him
naked.

Rude was able to appear on both RAW is WAR and WCW Monday Nitro on
November 17, 1997. A bearded Rood appeared on RAW (which had been
taped six days earlier) and then on Nitro, which was live, clean shaven.

Rick Rood passed away on April 20, 1999 after suffering heart failure.

Sgt. Slaughter
Sgt. Slaughter (real name Robert Remus) was an American professional wrestler from Verne Gagne's
AWA (American Wrestling Association) in the late 1980s. This is when
his character was introduced into the Hasbro G. I. Joe product line. In
1990 he switched to the World Wrestling Federation. Slaughter's
gimmick was that of a patriotic American soldier, an image he turned
upside down in 1990, when his character temporarily turned against
America and became an Iraqi sympathizer. Slaughter's heel persona was
one of the most hated in wrestling history.

Slaughter captured the WWF Championship at the 1991 Royal Rumble,

defeating The Ultimate Warrior by nefarious means ("Macho Man"
Randy Savage interfered), but lost the belt in a bloody match against
Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VII. After finishing the Hogan feud,
Slaughter became a face again, saying "I want my country back."

Sgt. Slaughter was also part of the G.I. Joe cartoon, as a member of the
G.I. Joe team and first appeared in an episode entitled "Arise,
Serpentor, Arise!" and along with the traditional merchandising of
WWE superstars, Sgt. Slaughter is one of few real people (William "The Refrigerator" Perry is another)
to be immortalized as a G.I. Joe figure, and even appeared in G.I. Joe the Movie.
Sgt. Slaughter was inducted into the WWE Hall
of Fame on March 13, 2004, the night before
WrestleMania XX.

bushy beard, wore bib overalls and had a horseshoe hanging from his
neck to personify a farm boy image. He really was raised on a farm in
Arkansas.

Although mainly active in the eastern half of the United States, he

also wrestled in Australia on tour with other American wrestlers in
bouts promoted by U.S. promoter Sam Menacker.

One of the most popular wrestlers from the late 1950s through the
early 1970s, he died of diabetes at the age of 55.

George “The Animal” Steele
George Steele, better known as George "The Animal" Steele, real name James Myers (b. April 16,
1937) is an American professional wrestler from Detroit, Michigan whose career lasted from the early
1960s until 1989 when he was forced to retire due to Crohn's disease, though he would make occasional
wrestling appearances into the 1990s and 2000s.

Steele's wrestling gimmick was to act like a wild man in

the ring, tearing up the turnbuckle with his teeth and
sticking out his green tongue (an effect accomplished by
chewing green-colored chewing gum before each match).
The Animal had a stooped posture and a hairless head,
but a thick mat of fur on his back; wrestling broadcasters
often speculated that The Animal was indeed the "missing
link". At best The Animal could occasionally manage to
utter a word or two during interviews.

Steele was almost always a crazy heel, but eventually he was one of the more beloved wrestlers of the
early "Wrestlemania" era of the mid-1980s.

His most famous feud was in 1986 against Randy "Macho Man" Savage, after Steele developed a crush
on Savage's valet, Miss Elizabeth. The feud was meant to last only a couple of months (and end with
Steele being disappointed), but it proved so popular with fans that it continued well into 1987. In 1988,
Steele began carrying a hand puppet named
"Mine" to the ring. George "The Animal" Steele F / H

“Chief” Jay Strongbow
Joseph Luke Scarpa was a professional wrestler who was best known by his famous ring moniker, Chief Jay
Strongbow. Scarpa portrayed a Native American wrestler who wore a traditional headdress to the ring, and would
"go on the warpath" when the fans started cheering him on against an
opponent. He was one of the popular wrestlers of the 1960's and 1970's.

He feuded with the likes of "The Golden Greek" Spiros Arion, "Handsome"
Jimmy Valiant, and Superstar Billy Graham. His most famous feud was
against Greg Valentine, who broke Strongbow's leg in 1979. The two waged
war all over the WWF circuit, most famously in a violent "Indian Strap
Match" in Madison Square Garden, on July 30, 1979.

Strongbow also competed for The Sheik's Big Time Wrestling promotion in
Detroit. He had a memorable feud with "Bulldog" Don Kent, which
culminated in a bizarre "shark cage match" in 1977. Strongbow and Kent
fought inside of a small shark cage, with the first man to escape being
declared the winner. With an assist from fellow fan favorite Mark Lewin,
Strongbow was able to escape the shark cage victorious.

Strongbow retired in 1985, but would still step back into the ring from time
to time, most notably for a legends battle royal in East Rutherford, New Jersey
in 1987. In retirement, Strongbow became a WWF road agent and worked in the company's front office. He also
participated in a 1993 storyline in which he mentored Tatanka, in his feud with Irwin R. Schyster. Chief Jay
Strongbow was inducted into the WWE Hall of
Fame in 1994.

wrestler, best known as Hunter Hearst Helmsley or Triple H. He is a 10-time World Champion: 5-time
WWE Champion and 5-time World Heavyweight
Champion.

During Triple H's WWE career, he has held a number of

titles, including the WWE Championship, the
Intercontinental Championship, the European
Championship, and (with partner Stone Cold Steve
Austin) the WWF Tag Team Championship. He is only
the second of five wrestlers to have held all four of those
titles, the first being Shawn Michaels. This is sometimes
referred to as being a Grand Slam Champion. He also won
the 1997 King of the Ring tournament and the 2002 Royal Rumble match.

The Undertaker
Mark Calaway was born March 24, 1965 in Houston, Texas. He is
better known by his stage name of The Undertaker. He is a four-
time WWE Champion, Six-time WWE World Tag Team Champion,
One-time WWE Hardcore Champion and a One-time WCW World
Tag Team Champion. He also holds a unique record: he is currently
undefeated in matches at the yearly WrestleMania events, with a
record of 13-0. He is one of the few wrestlers to be consistently
promoted (or pushed) throughout his career, and is frequently seen as
a company loyalist and prominent 'ambassador' for WWE, not least
because he is one of the company's longest-serving superstars, having
wrestled with the WWE for almost 15 years.

Trivia
• The Undertaker is undefeated at WrestleMania.
• The Undertaker is the only wrestler to have pinned Kevin Nash (6 ft 10 in),
Kane (6 ft 11 in), The Big Show (7 ft 2 in) and Giant Gonzales (7 ft 6 in), four of the tallest men in wrestling history.
• His 1994 clone (the "fake Undertaker"), Brian Lee, was his best man at his wedding to Sara.
• Before becoming a wrestler, Calaway had intended to become a professional basketball player.
• He finished nearly all of his WrestleMania matches using the Tombstone. It did not happen only in three occasions, in
which at WrestleMania IX Giant Gonzales got himself disqualified, at WrestleMania XI where he finished King Kong
Bundy with a flying clothesline, and at
WrestleMania X-Seven where Undertaker
finished Triple H with The Last Ride Undertaker F/H
(although he had used the Tombstone on
Triple H earlier in the match). Primary Finisher- Tombstone Piledriver

Ultimate Warrior
Warrior (born Brian James Hellwig on June 16, 1959 in Queens,
New York), is a former American professional wrestler known to
many as The Ultimate Warrior. He legally changed his name to
Warrior in 1993.

As a World Wrestling Federation (WWF) superstar from the mid-

80s to the early 90s, the Ultimate Warrior was known for his high-
energy and high-risk wrestling style, and his Gorilla Press Slam, in
which he would lift his opponent over his head like a barbell, and
then drop him to the mat face-first. Because of Warrior's slim
wrestling ability, his matches were generally kept short and
frantic, featuring a handful of power moves. The Ultimate
Warrior's ring entrances featured him racing into the arena at full
speed, bursting into the ring, and violently shaking the ropes up
and down. Warrior's string of fast-paced sub-5:00 matches ended
up being a fundamental key to his popularity. He was also known
for his distinctive pattern of face painting.

Warrior enjoyed two stints as Intercontinental Champion, defeating the Honky Tonk Man and Rick Rude
before achieving main event status. He was heralded as the wrestler to carry the torch after the pending
retirement of Hulk Hogan in 1990. Ultimate
Warrior defeated Hogan on April 1, 1990, at
the SkyDome in Toronto, Ontario in the main Ultimate Warrior F/H
event (which was billed "The Ultimate Primary Finisher- Warrior Press
Challenge") of WrestleMania VI. He held the Modifiers TV PPV NO DQ
belt until the Royal Rumble in January 1991. Size- 0 0 PIN FINISH CHAOS

GNU Free Documentation License
Copyright (C) 2000,2001,2002 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
51 Franklin St, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA 02110-1301 USA
Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim copies
of this license document, but changing it is not allowed.

0. PREAMBLE
The purpose of this License is to make a manual, textbook, or other functional and useful
document "free" in the sense of freedom: to assure everyone the effective freedom to
copy and redistribute it, with or without modifying it, either commercially or
noncommercially. Secondarily, this License preserves for the author and publisher a way
to get credit for their work, while not being considered responsible for modifications
made by others.

This License is a kind of "copyleft", which means that derivative works of the document
must themselves be free in the same sense. It complements the GNU General Public
License, which is a copyleft license designed for free software.

We have designed this License in order to use it for manuals for free software, because
free software needs free documentation: a free program should come with manuals
providing the same freedoms that the software does. But this License is not limited to
software manuals; it can be used for any textual work, regardless of subject matter or
whether it is published as a printed book. We recommend this License principally for
works whose purpose is instruction or reference.

1. APPLICABILITY AND DEFINITIONS

This License applies to any manual or other work, in any medium, that contains a notice
placed by the copyright holder saying it can be distributed under the terms of this
License. Such a notice grants a world-wide, royalty-free license, unlimited in duration, to
use that work under the conditions stated herein. The "Document", below, refers to any
such manual or work. Any member of the public is a licensee, and is addressed as "you".
You accept the license if you copy, modify or distribute the work in a way requiring
permission under copyright law.

A "Modified Version" of the Document means any work containing the Document or a
portion of it, either copied verbatim, or with modifications and/or translated into another
language.

A "Secondary Section" is a named appendix or a front-matter section of the Document

that deals exclusively with the relationship of the publishers or authors of the Document
to the Document's overall subject (or to related matters) and contains nothing that could
fall directly within that overall subject. (Thus, if the Document is in part a textbook of
mathematics, a Secondary Section may not explain any mathematics.) The relationship
could be a matter of historical connection with the subject or with related matters, or of
legal, commercial, philosophical, ethical or political position regarding them.

The "Invariant Sections" are certain Secondary Sections whose titles are designated, as
being those of Invariant Sections, in the notice that says that the Document is released
under this License. If a section does not fit the above definition of Secondary then it is
not allowed to be designated as Invariant. The Document may contain zero Invariant
Sections. If the Document does not identify any Invariant Sections then there are none.

The "Cover Texts" are certain short passages of text that are listed, as Front-Cover Texts
or Back-Cover Texts, in the notice that says that the Document is released under this
License. A Front-Cover Text may be at most 5 words, and a Back-Cover Text may be at
most 25 words.

A "Transparent" copy of the Document means a machine-readable copy, represented in a

format whose specification is available to the general public, that is suitable for revising
the document straightforwardly with generic text editors or (for images composed of
pixels) generic paint programs or (for drawings) some widely available drawing editor,
and that is suitable for input to text formatters or for automatic translation to a variety of
formats suitable for input to text formatters. A copy made in an otherwise Transparent
file format whose markup, or absence of markup, has been arranged to thwart or
discourage subsequent modification by readers is not Transparent. An image format is
not Transparent if used for any substantial amount of text. A copy that is not
"Transparent" is called "Opaque".

Examples of suitable formats for Transparent copies include plain ASCII without
markup, Texinfo input format, LaTeX input format, SGML or XML using a publicly
available DTD, and standard-conforming simple HTML, PostScript or PDF designed for
human modification. Examples of transparent image formats include PNG, XCF and
JPG. Opaque formats include proprietary formats that can be read and edited only by
proprietary word processors, SGML or XML for which the DTD and/or processing tools
are not generally available, and the machine-generated HTML, PostScript or PDF
produced by some word processors for output purposes only.

The "Title Page" means, for a printed book, the title page itself, plus such following
pages as are needed to hold, legibly, the material this License requires to appear in the
title page. For works in formats which do not have any title page as such, "Title Page"
means the text near the most prominent appearance of the work's title, preceding the
beginning of the body of the text.

A section "Entitled XYZ" means a named subunit of the Document whose title either is
precisely XYZ or contains XYZ in parentheses following text that translates XYZ in
another language. (Here XYZ stands for a specific section name mentioned below, such
as "Acknowledgements", "Dedications", "Endorsements", or "History".) To "Preserve the
Title" of such a section when you modify the Document means that it remains a section
"Entitled XYZ" according to this definition.

The Document may include Warranty Disclaimers next to the notice which states that this
License applies to the Document. These Warranty Disclaimers are considered to be
included by reference in this License, but only as regards disclaiming warranties: any
other implication that these Warranty Disclaimers may have is void and has no effect on
the meaning of this License.

2. VERBATIM COPYING
You may copy and distribute the Document in any medium, either commercially or
noncommercially, provided that this License, the copyright notices, and the license notice
saying this License applies to the Document are reproduced in all copies, and that you
add no other conditions whatsoever to those of this License. You may not use technical
measures to obstruct or control the reading or further copying of the copies you make or
distribute. However, you may accept compensation in exchange for copies. If you
distribute a large enough number of copies you must also follow the conditions in section
3.

You may also lend copies, under the same conditions stated above, and you may publicly
display copies.

3. COPYING IN QUANTITY
If you publish printed copies (or copies in media that commonly have printed covers) of
the Document, numbering more than 100, and the Document's license notice requires
Cover Texts, you must enclose the copies in covers that carry, clearly and legibly, all
these Cover Texts: Front-Cover Texts on the front cover, and Back-Cover Texts on the
back cover. Both covers must also clearly and legibly identify you as the publisher of
these copies. The front cover must present the full title with all words of the title equally
prominent and visible. You may add other material on the covers in addition. Copying
with changes limited to the covers, as long as they preserve the title of the Document and
satisfy these conditions, can be treated as verbatim copying in other respects.

If the required texts for either cover are too voluminous to fit legibly, you should put the
first ones listed (as many as fit reasonably) on the actual cover, and continue the rest onto
adjacent pages.

If you publish or distribute Opaque copies of the Document numbering more than 100,
you must either include a machine-readable Transparent copy along with each Opaque
copy, or state in or with each Opaque copy a computer-network location from which the
general network-using public has access to download using public-standard network
protocols a complete Transparent copy of the Document, free of added material. If you
use the latter option, you must take reasonably prudent steps, when you begin distribution
of Opaque copies in quantity, to ensure that this Transparent copy will remain thus
accessible at the stated location until at least one year after the last time you distribute an
Opaque copy (directly or through your agents or retailers) of that edition to the public.

It is requested, but not required, that you contact the authors of the Document well before
redistributing any large number of copies, to give them a chance to provide you with an
updated version of the Document.

4. MODIFICATIONS
You may copy and distribute a Modified Version of the Document under the conditions
of sections 2 and 3 above, provided that you release the Modified Version under precisely
this License, with the Modified Version filling the role of the Document, thus licensing
distribution and modification of the Modified Version to whoever possesses a copy of it.
In addition, you must do these things in the Modified Version:

• A. Use in the Title Page (and on the covers, if any) a title distinct from that of the
Document, and from those of previous versions (which should, if there were any,
be listed in the History section of the Document). You may use the same title as a
previous version if the original publisher of that version gives permission.
• B. List on the Title Page, as authors, one or more persons or entities responsible
for authorship of the modifications in the Modified Version, together with at least
five of the principal authors of the Document (all of its principal authors, if it has
fewer than five), unless they release you from this requirement.
• C. State on the Title page the name of the publisher of the Modified Version, as
the publisher.
• D. Preserve all the copyright notices of the Document.
• E. Add an appropriate copyright notice for your modifications adjacent to the
other copyright notices.
• F. Include, immediately after the copyright notices, a license notice giving the
public permission to use the Modified Version under the terms of this License, in
the form shown in the Addendum below.
• G. Preserve in that license notice the full lists of Invariant Sections and required
Cover Texts given in the Document's license notice.
• H. Include an unaltered copy of this License.
• I. Preserve the section Entitled "History", Preserve its Title, and add to it an item
stating at least the title, year, new authors, and publisher of the Modified Version
as given on the Title Page. If there is no section Entitled "History" in the
Document, create one stating the title, year, authors, and publisher of the
Document as given on its Title Page, then add an item describing the Modified
Version as stated in the previous sentence.
• J. Preserve the network location, if any, given in the Document for public access
to a Transparent copy of the Document, and likewise the network locations given
in the Document for previous versions it was based on. These may be placed in
the "History" section. You may omit a network location for a work that was
published at least four years before the Document itself, or if the original
publisher of the version it refers to gives permission.
• K. For any section Entitled "Acknowledgements" or "Dedications", Preserve the
Title of the section, and preserve in the section all the substance and tone of each
of the contributor acknowledgements and/or dedications given therein.
• L. Preserve all the Invariant Sections of the Document, unaltered in their text and
in their titles. Section numbers or the equivalent are not considered part of the
section titles.
• M. Delete any section Entitled "Endorsements". Such a section may not be
included in the Modified Version.
• N. Do not retitle any existing section to be Entitled "Endorsements" or to conflict
in title with any Invariant Section.
• O. Preserve any Warranty Disclaimers.

If the Modified Version includes new front-matter sections or appendices that qualify as
Secondary Sections and contain no material copied from the Document, you may at your
option designate some or all of these sections as invariant. To do this, add their titles to
the list of Invariant Sections in the Modified Version's license notice. These titles must be
distinct from any other section titles.

You may add a section Entitled "Endorsements", provided it contains nothing but
endorsements of your Modified Version by various parties--for example, statements of
peer review or that the text has been approved by an organization as the authoritative
definition of a standard.

You may add a passage of up to five words as a Front-Cover Text, and a passage of up to
25 words as a Back-Cover Text, to the end of the list of Cover Texts in the Modified
Version. Only one passage of Front-Cover Text and one of Back-Cover Text may be
added by (or through arrangements made by) any one entity. If the Document already
includes a cover text for the same cover, previously added by you or by arrangement
made by the same entity you are acting on behalf of, you may not add another; but you
may replace the old one, on explicit permission from the previous publisher that added
the old one.

The author(s) and publisher(s) of the Document do not by this License give permission to
use their names for publicity for or to assert or imply endorsement of any Modified
Version.

5. COMBINING DOCUMENTS
You may combine the Document with other documents released under this License,
under the terms defined in section 4 above for modified versions, provided that you
include in the combination all of the Invariant Sections of all of the original documents,
unmodified, and list them all as Invariant Sections of your combined work in its license
notice, and that you preserve all their Warranty Disclaimers.
The combined work need only contain one copy of this License, and multiple identical
Invariant Sections may be replaced with a single copy. If there are multiple Invariant
Sections with the same name but different contents, make the title of each such section
unique by adding at the end of it, in parentheses, the name of the original author or
publisher of that section if known, or else a unique number. Make the same adjustment to
the section titles in the list of Invariant Sections in the license notice of the combined
work.

In the combination, you must combine any sections Entitled "History" in the various
original documents, forming one section Entitled "History"; likewise combine any
sections Entitled "Acknowledgements", and any sections Entitled "Dedications". You
must delete all sections Entitled "Endorsements."

6. COLLECTIONS OF DOCUMENTS
You may make a collection consisting of the Document and other documents released
under this License, and replace the individual copies of this License in the various
documents with a single copy that is included in the collection, provided that you follow
the rules of this License for verbatim copying of each of the documents in all other
respects.

You may extract a single document from such a collection, and distribute it individually
under this License, provided you insert a copy of this License into the extracted
document, and follow this License in all other respects regarding verbatim copying of
that document.

7. AGGREGATION WITH INDEPENDENT WORKS

A compilation of the Document or its derivatives with other separate and independent
documents or works, in or on a volume of a storage or distribution medium, is called an
"aggregate" if the copyright resulting from the compilation is not used to limit the legal
rights of the compilation's users beyond what the individual works permit. When the
Document is included in an aggregate, this License does not apply to the other works in
the aggregate which are not themselves derivative works of the Document.

If the Cover Text requirement of section 3 is applicable to these copies of the Document,
then if the Document is less than one half of the entire aggregate, the Document's Cover
Texts may be placed on covers that bracket the Document within the aggregate, or the
electronic equivalent of covers if the Document is in electronic form. Otherwise they
must appear on printed covers that bracket the whole aggregate.

8. TRANSLATION
Translation is considered a kind of modification, so you may distribute translations of the
Document under the terms of section 4. Replacing Invariant Sections with translations
requires special permission from their copyright holders, but you may include translations
of some or all Invariant Sections in addition to the original versions of these Invariant
Sections. You may include a translation of this License, and all the license notices in the
Document, and any Warranty Disclaimers, provided that you also include the original
English version of this License and the original versions of those notices and disclaimers.
In case of a disagreement between the translation and the original version of this License
or a notice or disclaimer, the original version will prevail.

If a section in the Document is Entitled "Acknowledgements", "Dedications", or

"History", the requirement (section 4) to Preserve its Title (section 1) will typically
require changing the actual title.

9. TERMINATION
You may not copy, modify, sublicense, or distribute the Document except as expressly
provided for under this License. Any other attempt to copy, modify, sublicense or
distribute the Document is void, and will automatically terminate your rights under this
License. However, parties who have received copies, or rights, from you under this
License will not have their licenses terminated so long as such parties remain in full
compliance.

10. FUTURE REVISIONS OF THIS LICENSE

The Free Software Foundation may publish new, revised versions of the GNU Free
Documentation License from time to time. Such new versions will be similar in spirit to

Each version of the License is given a distinguishing version number. If the Document
specifies that a particular numbered version of this License "or any later version" applies
to it, you have the option of following the terms and conditions either of that specified
version or of any later version that has been published (not as a draft) by the Free
Software Foundation. If the Document does not specify a version number of this License,
you may choose any version ever published (not as a draft) by the Free Software
Foundation.
