STANDARD LESSON PLAN FORMAT

I. Describe the Class


It is a Second Grade Class. The class is composed of 21 students, one has an
IEP. Two are English learners

II. Subject/Skill:

Reading

III. Objective(s)

Determine purposes of listening, understand and follow directions, listen


critically and responsively ask and answer questions Interpret and evaluate what they
are listening, listen responsively to stories, connect and compare own experiences to
story. Apply comprehension skills understand major ideas and supporting evidence in
spoken messages Participate in listening activities related to the readings and to learn
to take notes

IV. Procedures

I will be reading the book Chrysanthemum which talks about responsibilities


and care. I will translate the book to the English learners and to the IEP
students will work 1 on 1. After reading the story students are going to be able
to talk in their group of choice. I will go around and listen to what they are
responding about the story. Will let them take notes. For the assessment I will
pass a work sheets with questions that will help them in using their notes.

V. Materials
The Book Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes. A notebook and a pencil.
VI. Grouping Structures
The students will discuss the book in a group where they can talk about the
story.

VII. Modifications
To translate the book to the English Language Learners to help them
understand what the book is about.

VIII. Assessment
I will assess the students by giving them a work sheet that they will be
working on by themselves after they have discussed the story with their
classmates.
