3. Platform
The permissible stress in function of the yield strength is given in DNVGL-ST-0378
Standard for offshore and platform lifting appliances, May 2016
In the said table, the permissible von Mises stress should be calculated according to
the Load Case 1 which refers to “Cranes working without wind”. For such load case
the safety factor is 1.5
[vm] = 355/1.5 = 237 Mpa
[] = 140 Mpa

4. Lifting appliance
 = 355/1.5 = 234 Mpa
