Before class Photocopy enough worksheets for students A and students B.

Procedure

1 Give an example of the activity to the class. Ask ‘What’s the name of the sport that
is played by eleven player? They use a ball. They try to score point by kicking it
into a goal.’ Elicit ‘football’.

2 Put the students into student A and student B pairs. Check that they can ask the
question ‘What’s 12 down/across?’ Remind them that they must not say the words
on their crossword but only the definition. Students should take it in turns to
define the words. When students have finished, tell them to compare their
crosswords to check all the words are accurate.
